Interesting. My doctor just told me he wants an ultrasound to check on baby's size at 38 weeks because she is big already. I didn't know what it meant or will mean if she is a big baby. I've gained 32lbs at 34ish weeks, which I am fine with. No health problems or complications, so I don't get it.

Here is how mine have related to weight gain. :)

    1- gained 90lbs, baby 7lbs 4.5oz
    2- gained 60lbs, baby 7lbs 14oz
    3- gained 40+lbs, baby 9lbs 14oz (they thought she'd be around 7lbs, and I am only 5'5" and small/medium framed)
    4- 43lb gain, baby 8lbs, 3oz

I am 28 weeks and have gained 15 lbs. Last week alone I gained 3 lbs! But then when I weighed in this morning I was back down 1 lb. I am finding lately that I am still hungry after finishing my allotted calories for the day. So, I'm eating a bit more than I thought I would. I also get frustrated with my workouts and have some negative thinking lately- "what is the point in this hard work if I'm going to gain 3 lbs in one week anyway?!" type thinking. Oh well, one trimester to go . . .

As for big babies, I gained 40 lbs in each of my previous 2 pregnancies. DD weighed 7 lb 6oz and DS weighed exactly 8lbs. I'm sure there is SOME connection between gain and baby size, but I highly doubt that it is a true correlation for every woman. Especially women who have had healthy pregnancies and still gained more than dr's recommend. Sure, if someone ignores their GD and fills the baby with sugar before he born, then his size will probably be affected by that. But to those of you above who have been healthy and active I hope that you can give yourself credit for nourishing your baby and not let your dr freak you out.

It's nice/interesting to hear about some of you who gained a lot of late and still had smallish babies. The thing that's especially irritating to me is from feeling my stomach she thinks she will be around 8lbs, I don't think that very big! Oh well, I'm thinking of just declining the ultrasound. I already decided if they try to say I'm too big and need to induce I'm not showing up for an induction ;)

Im 29 weeks today and im up about 25-26 pounds.... Im working out, and watching my calories and for the most part doing good I think, but that scale just keeps going up! Its rather frusterating, you work so hard to get the pounds off and they pile back on like nothing!
I am quickly approching that 200 number again and its making me feel like a huge failure.... Im having issues enjoying this pregnancy because of the fast weight gain I was hoping to avoid!

Up 2.5 pounds since last week and not happy about it! I do think bump's grown a lot this week, but I really don't want to put on that much every week. Trying to console myself that at this point in my first pregnancy I was up 12 pounds. Hoping this week will have a very small gain.

I am up 1 pound at 15 (almost 16 weeks) however I went into this pregnancy with 20 extra pounds so I am trying to eat lots of healthy, whole, natural foods and it is working. Last pregnancy I ate way too many carbs and gains 40lbs so I am trying not to repeat that!!! I expect that the scale will jump someday soon but for right now I am happy with my weight gain.

I feel you. Just came back from my 26 week glucose screening (nervously awaiting results) and I'm up 28lbs. I know this is getting to me because I'm almost back to where I started when I joined MFP. I brought in a record of what I've been eating for my midwife to look over and she said to cut down on carbs and up my protein. I know she's right, but I can't help but feel that I'm going to screw everything up by gaining too much weight.
She said she wants me to maintain for the next 14 weeks. I still have not been able to exactly figure out how to do that. My body went from losing weight and being incredibly active, to feeling nauseated for 3 months and eating was the only thing that made me feel better. I have gotten back on the exercise wagon, but it's getting harder everyday. I mean, I know everyday tasks can become challenging in my state, but is it normal to break a sweat putting socks on. F&%$!!!
I know I don't have my caloric intake dialed in correctly yet for maintenance, plus pregnancy is confusing this number too. I am just having a down day. Sorry to whine.

So...4.4 lbs up in 1.5 weeks is not my idea of cool...my doc told me to only gain 4 in the next month! I'm hoping it's just too much sodium, which I'm really going to watch...can't keep up these big jumps in weight!

Just drink a TON of water for the next few days....it will really help with the swelling. Certain things (like Mexican or Chinese food) can affect me for 3 days....the only thing that helps is water or just completely avoiding those things. I can eat a burrito and gain 3 lbs lol....even though the calories/fat aren't too bad for what I order, I looked it up online and the sodium was through the roof....

up 18 lbs at 33 weeks.....

this is encouraging! i am at week 23 and am seeing my first +2lb gain. I was getting scared! but its a good reminder that it doesn't mean I have to gain +2lb every week from here on out! that would not be good for me! great work so far, you are doing really well. I think we are right on the same weight gain schedule. we can do this!
