Hey everyone... Thanks for adding me as a friend Randyamc

I am on Week 2, Day 5 tomorrow (which will be my last day for week 2). I will be starting Week 3 on Monday.

On Monday and Thursday I jog (clockwise) around a half mile block near the house. On Saturday I jog across town (plenty of hills to traverse). Then the next Monday and Thursday in the second week I jog (counterclockwise) around the half mile block near the house. Doing this keeps things interesting for me.

As far as keeping track I am currently using my Timex Data USB watch. I recently learned I can set up an entire interval set and store it on the watch. I just listen for the beeps. I do not have a cell phone for downloading apps (which is just fine).

    Looking forward to Week 3.

    Great job everyone.

    Hey Jac, you bet!

I’m behind you a little bit. Great work. I usually take the same path and see if I can increase my distance/speed. So far though, I’m just making sure I don’t walk during the run periods lol

Hey if it and broke… right? I think I’m going to start using something that will track my distance for me. It will be interesting to see how far I’m getting each time. If I do, I’ll post those results back here.
    Keep Charging!

    Hi Randymac
i finished week 2 last night! i missed monday so I ran tuesday and wednesday and I had nooo energy. I think the rest day is really important for my legs.
What do you use for electronic gadgets? I have nike+ on my ipod, and I like it. there are also a few phone apps that work pretty well. The reason I like nike+ is because I can download the data then look at it on a pretty graph. :) I'm a sucker for cool gadgets.

Hi! Yes, I think resting your muscles is a good thing. I also think getting more sleep may be important haha. My W2D2 is this evening.

I just use my I phone and run the C25k app (Get Running) along with run keeper oh and my music. Haha, i do like cool graphs!!

This run sucked. My legs hurt soo bad. I have no clue what's wrong. I'll be posting, looking for answers. Hopefully I can figure it out as this is a bit much. But I pushed though and finished. That is all...

Re-started the program a couple of weeks ago. I had tried it towards the beginning of the year, but wasn't able to complete it due to knee pain. I got fitted for some new running shoes, which have all but eliminated the knee pain, but I got lazy where running was concerned. I'm planning to do a 5K in October, so I decided to buckle down and "git 'er done". I'm taking it a little more slowly this time, though, to avoid injury and setbacks. For the first two weeks, I did 5min walk @ 3mph, 45 sec run @ 5mph, 2:15 @ 3mph, and alternated until the 25:00 mark, then cooled down @ 3mph for 5 minutes. That was on Tues, Thurs, and Sat for two weeks. This Tues, I increased the running segments and decreased the walking segments by 15 seconds each. Just that extra 15 seconds feels like I'm gonna die, but I know I have to push myself past what's comfortable if I want to improve.

Thanks, buckeyegirl0103... it's great to be able to say. LOL

Jcstanton, that's awesome. I need to sign up for a 5k. I'll start looking when I get close to finishing up. Yeah, pushing ourselves... that's always the tough part. Keep at it!!!

I refuse to sign up for a 5k until I am done! In case something happens, I have some kind of a set back or something. (I think part of that is still my ex whispering in my ear- you will never succeed at anything!!) My girls want to start Girls on the Run- a self-esteem/anti-bullying/running program for girls. They do a 5K at the end of the program and I want to run that with them. But that is not for a while, so I have plenty of time to train and get to that point.

We have a Girls on the Run program here in the Greenville, SC area, as well. They ran the Greenville Hospital System Swamp Rabbit Trail 5K with me back in May. They had a blast. Actually, it can be beneficial to pick a 5K you'd be interested in running/walking a few months from now. It sort of keeps you motivated, knowing that date is coming up on the calendar. But you don't have to register until a couple of weeks before. That way you're not spending any money until you have more confidence that you'll be able to do it. I've already done three 5K's in the last year. As yet, I haven't been able to completely run any of them, but my time keeps improving. I'm hoping to be able to run the Susan G. Komen 5K in Charlotte, NC in October as part of Carolina Panthers' running back DeAngelo Williams' Warriors. He puts together a team for that race every year in honor of his mom, who is a breast cancer survivor.

I've looked- but nothing has caught my eye as of yet....I am going to wait for the GOTR one- already told the girls I would do it with them. And I really want to do the Color Run with my friends next year. That looks like a TOTAL blast. It was in June this year, so there was NO way I would have been ready for it! I was on week 2!! I'll keep my eyes opened, but for right now, i am just enjoying succeeding a little bit more each week!!

I so want to do the color run, it looks like so much fun. I'll be starting Week 2 over next week and I got sick this week and was unable to finish day 3. That and I'm adding strength training on my off days so I decided I wouldn't push to hard. Keep up the great work everyone!!!

I started last week... up for W1D3 today!! Was kind of sore Saturday and Sunday, because I combined a pretty intense aerobic class with W1D2... Oops!
Still a little sore today, but it's not going to stop me from finishing the first week of this program!
Curious to see where it's going to take me...
Good luck to everyone else doing C25K!!

Hi Andrea, great work!! Love your Why's btw. I'm a little worried how I'll do as I'm starting strength training on my days off. I'm sure my legs will handle the extra work load but it may take a little getting used to. Keep it rockin, looking forward to hearing about your progress!!!

    Thanks Randy!
I just got back from my run... it was great! The weather is perfect today, and I ended up running for 3 minutes the last 'running section' (basically didn't do the last 'walking section' and ran another 30 seconds in my 'cool down section'), pretty neat!

I'm actually planning on combining my C25K with strength training as well (I go to the gym on days I don't do C25K and am planning on substituting most of my cardio with strength)... Let me know how that works for you!

Wow, way to kick it up a notch Andrea!!! I woke up late this morning so will be forced to do my run when it's quite a bit warmer this evening. Better than not doing it at all.

Yes, my outline will be strength Mon, Wed, Fri. C2k5 Tues, Thurs, Sat mixed in with some bike riding or whatever I can get into during the weekend! Keep up the strong effort!!

Good evening everyone... looking forward to my W3 D2 session on Thursday. Will be in a different town b/c of vacation so will need to find the running trail or a good sidewalk. Bringing the running shoes and all.

Great job Andrea on your first week.

Sounds like a super weekly lineup Randy. Keep up the great work.

    Good evening.

Evening everyone, ehh or morning lol.

So tonight I restarted my C25k W2D1 after my mild set back of not feeling well last week. I wasn't as strong as I wanted to be but felt good. I'm trying to teach myself how to become a mid foot runner and so far I'm not finding it to be an easy task. Whole different groups of muscles. There was a guy out there that was running that way and I wanted to pull a 180 and follow him but… that might have been a little creepy lol.

After my run was finished I tried a few short sprints with good from. Felt good but awkward! lol So, I shall push forward and keep trying to progress in my running and running style. Tomorrow is my first strength training day. I'm looking forward to see how my legs handle the extra work load. Hope everyone has a happy 4th if you are celebrating it. Keep it rockin'!!!

This little vacation must be giving me a bit of energy. Who wants some extra energy:happy:
Just completed W3 D2 which I drag out to a distance of 3 miles then I jogged 1.5 miles afterwards.
Was a beautiful morning for jogging.
Now I am ready to sit for another 6 hours in the car driving to our next stop.

Here's to a wonderful day full of energy.

Wow, Jaccyber... I could use some of your energy :)!
It's actually one of my non-running days, but I was planning to go to the gym.
It's SUPER humid outside though, so I'm still debating whether or not to go.
Kind of made myself the deal that if it starts raining, I'll go and if not... I won't!

Although, maybe you've just inspired me to just do it... Maybe it'll energize me :)

    Enjoy your vacation!!

Wow, I'll take some too!! Enjoy your vacation!

I see a lot of people stretching out the distance! After I finish my program for the day I usually play around with trying to land midfoot lol. Woke up this morning feeling sick. :( Feel fine now. It just means I have to run in much warmer weather! Ick!! Then first day of Strength training tomorrow.

Hello, can I join your thread. Tonight I just did my W5 R2 which was not as bad as I thought it would be. I am dreading the next one through. I bought my first ever pare of proper running shoes last week and it feels much better to run in them then my old cheap shoes.
It is winter here and a little cold for my liking since I do most of my running at night in the dark. I am continually amazed at how addicted I have become to this running caper. I have had my odd off days but most of the time I look forward to going out and pounding the pavement. It has taken me about 7 weeks to get to this point. Life has a way of getting in the way sometimes but I will keep going. I don’t care if it takes me 20 weeks to finish, I will not give up.

I did W2 D3 in my lunch hour today. It hurt so bad but I saw it through. The running bits aren't so bad - it is the walking that is killing me at the moment. All the fit people are the gym were smirking at me after I stagggered off the dreadmill looking like I was about to die.

My calves where agony afterwards but I covered them in Deep Heat (and stankout the open plan office), elevated for half an hour and took some ibuphoren and I was capable of walking like a normal person again.

    Roll on W3!

No run for me today.....woke up feeling yucky and it was already almost 80 at 5am....my indoor track is not air conditioned, so I opted not to go. I did take back my Asics and was "re-fitted" by the manager. He had me try back on the Saucony's and watched me run in them.....he said I was landing mid-foot and was pleased how they looked on my feet! They felt AWESOME and the leg pain was GONE while I tried them. I also bought the foam roller ball and the stick to help with the IT Band. He confirmed that's what I was feeling and said its a necessity for most women that run to help get the extra stretch. The stick really felt good on my hamstring. Hopefully it will do the trick. The temps are supposed to cool down by Sunday, back to the 60's for the morning hours...so I am hoping to get back at it Monday.

    **W2D2**
Soo, last night I did my run and my legs still hate me. Chi running is kicking my a**. Different group of muscles and they don’t love it. Humm, I’ll keep at it though. Oh and note to self. They turn the sprinklers at 9pm in the park!  lol

Hi Riskay123 - But of course, the more the merrier. I just finished W2D2 last night and I don't look forward to it yet. Can't wait till I do

Titanuim - I hurt too! But I think it's a little bit of everything for me. I'm thinking dreadmill wasn't a type lol Love it!!

Buckeyegirl - Wow it gets hot there fast!! ICK! Humm, I wonder if my issue could be shoes. I'll have to find a place around here that does that. Eventually.

JAC - I don't think it will hurt you one bit. You seem to be ahead of the game so far!! Enjoy your trip.

W3D1 complete. It was a good session, especially compared to last week's horror session. I was even capable of walking around normally post run instead of hobbling around. I really feel like progress is being made.
