    Hey C25K-ers!
Wow, I'm impressed... Sounds like everyone's making good progress!!

Titanium - that's amazing that you do your runs during lunch break! I think I'd have a hard time getting back to work after a run...

Buckeyegirl - I'm sure you're going to love your Saucony's... I've had mine for over a year now (now that I mention it, I might have to look into getting new ones sometime soon haha), and LOVE THEM!

Jaccyber - good luck on getting back on track after your vacation - you can do it!!

Randy - that sprinkler statement made me laugh so hard :).... When are you doing W2D3?? I'm going to be doing it tonight!!

Well folks...back from the vacation and feeling good. Did W3 D3 this morning bright and early at about 4:40am and then jogged for another 1.5 miles. Wonderful morning. Mid 60's and calm.

Happy to be back in South Dakota... b/c Minnesota was sooo HOT and MUGGY.

Still haven't tried them!!! :grumble: didn't have time yesterday morning- my girls just flew home from their dad's (gone for 6 weeks) yesterday and their luggage didn't arrive with them....it arrived WITH A PHONE CALL at 2:45 AM today!! :grumble: Glad its here, but come on......sooooooo after a long day yesterday and an even longer- interrupted night- I slept in. I WILL go tomorrow......and yes, it has been horrible here with the heat and humidity, but its better now. Its supposed to be in the low 60's when I get up tomorrow! That is DEFINITELY more acceptable!!

Congrats Titanium!! I still get a lot of associated leg pain. Nothing too bad and usually feel better by the next day. I’m still working on my form.

Andrea – I was supposed to do my W2D3 on Saturday morning. I woke up late and didn’t get it in. I ended up kayaking for 2 hours that day and followed up with a 30 mile bike ride the next. So, it wasn’t running like it should have been but I got my cardio in. I’ve decided to push forward and just start W3D1 tomorrow morning.

Welcome back Jac! You make me want to add time to the end of my runs!! Yeah, I don’t do hot and muggy well. I don’t miss Florida one bit!

Glad you are getting some cooler weather Buckeyegirl – good luck on your run!!

    **W3D1**

Good Morning. Wow, do I love working out in the morning’s soo much more than the evening! Great way to start the day. Now if I coudl just love to get up haha. So I skipped W2D3 because I was worn out from other activities. Today’s run was tough for me. That first 3 minute stretch was difficult. The second 3 minute stretch was a bit easier. No more missing days!! Tried a few short running bursts afterwards to work on my form. I think I may be improving lol So, this week goal will be finishing strong and getting more sleep!! Oh, and it seems like they turn on the MFing sprinklers on at 5 also. Does grass need that much water? Really?!?! lol

I'm trying to teach myself how to become a mid foot runner and so far I'm not finding it to be an easy task. Whole different groups of muscles.

Have looked at chi running at all? http://www.chirunning.com/
I read the book and, when I can do it mostly right, it is a much more relaxed gait, but I go faster. Or at least I think I go faster :)
Its supposed to reduce injury too.

Yup, been reading the site and watching videos. Haven’t read the book though. I understand the approach but I'm finding it hard to make my body keep at it. I'll figure it out eventually. Thanks!!

I did W3 D3 today. I was meant to do W3D2 but I am a complete goose and pressed the wrong button on my app. I didn't realise until I got to the end and went to tick it off as complete. All in all a good run. I think my form is good and my pace is quite good. That 12km at the end of August isn't as scary as it once was.

Looking forward to my next run tomorrow ... W3 D4 ... I know I am probably ready to move on to week 4 but like to work on breathing and rythym a bit more and that Chi running... sounds like something I should learn.

Great job Titanuim on the run :)

**W3D2** In the books! err on the site... um... you know what I mean right?

    First things first:
Jac you are doing awesome and going above and beyond week to week. Your program has a D4? Mine all stop on D3.
Titanuim - Congrats on your strong run and glad your goal doesn’t seem as daunting as it once was.

I don't know what's going on. Maybe not enough sleep but I had absolutely no energy this morning. Mapmyfitness says I did 2.75 miles in 35:48 which isn't so bad as it includes my warm up and cool down. But wow did I struggle. Going to see if I feel stronger on D3 if I get a bit more sleep lol. Sooo... I declare today zombie day... uuuhhhhhh..... ;)

Completed W3 D4 (repeat of D3) this morning. Went 2 miles during the session. I shortened my cool down a bit b/c afterwards I started my 'test' jog to see how far I could go without walking... my legs took me 2 miles... Woo Hoo... personal best and I ran it in 19 minutes. Great stuff.

I am using the standard program with the 3 days. I should label it like 'D3 Repeat' maybe instead of 'D4'. I am just repeating day 3 a couple times in each week.

Great job on the run Randy. Keep it up.

I have just come in from finishing W6R2. I went in to it feeling tired but I decided to do it anyway. I ran pretty slow but I managed to finish it. I am dreading the next one 22 min eeek.

I have noticed a few things in Weeks 1 and 2 I struggled with my breathing and my leg muscles. Then from week 3 to week 5 my muscles settled down but I still struggled with my breathing. This week my legs are really burning again but I am breathing much better. Don't know what it means just thought I would mention it.

    Welldone Randy, Jaccyber and Riskay.

Did W3D3 again today as I had a look a Week 4 and didn't feel mentailly prepared for it (my smallest child has come down with glandular fever this week and is unwell and I had to start a formal performance management plan for a numpty that I manage at work). A particularly average run. No highs No lows. Just plodding but it did provide some mental headspace.

On a complete tangent - I am beginning to think that my calves are never going to feel normal again. Everytime they start to feel non achey I do more exercise and kick off the ache once more.

Jac – 2 miles, that’s awesome!! Ahh that’s not a bad idea at all. Will do thanks!
Riskay123 – Omg W6, can’t wait till I get there! Yeah, there are a couple big leaps in the program lol Yeah, I’m struggling with leg muscles and form right now.
Tatanium – Thanks!! I’ll be doing my tomorrow morning. I hand to look up numpty, love it! Runs always seem to be a good way for me to start my day. Sorry to hear about your little one.  Yeah, my calves are doing the same thing, it’s so much fun!

Keep up the great work everyone. I’ll report in tomorrow how my run goes.

    G’day,

Well I have just come in from W6 R3 (sort of). It all started out well with a beautiful sunny winter afternoon. Did my warm up and of I went for my 22 min run. Then 3 min in Laura told me to start walking. I checked my app and somehow I had selected the wrong week to run. Anyway 10 seconds later I kicked off the correct week off I went again. Somehow though I managed to have the two weeks running at the same time. The screen on my phone was telling me to run but she kept telling me every now and then to start walking. I think I stopped 3 times for a total of 30 seconds to try and fix it before I gave up and just ran. I did an extra 1 min running at the end to try to make up for the time that I had stopped. Very frustrated but in the end I got there. I am considering week 6 now completed. I know I did stop for a very short period of time but not because I didn’t think I could go on but because of my stupid phone so I think I should still be able to move on to week 7 what do you all think. Can I move on?

    Mornin' folks.

I did W4 D1 this morning. I traveled a distance of 2.75 miles with 5 min warmup and cooldown in todays session. Walked and additional 3.5 minutes to reach 3 miles. The 3 miles took me 35 minutes to complete. I felt really good this morning on the run. Wow.

Look forward to Thursday for my next run.

    Awesome Jaacyber.

I did W4 D1 today as well and it was a good run. Slowed my pace on the runs and it was all perfectedly managable. Not sure of my exact distance due to a slight mishap on the treadmill were I reset it half way through when I had to rescue my ipod which I had sent flying due to overly vigorous arm movements.

You guys are doing great! I missed my run on Saturday due to family obligations. Went for a 3 hour bike ride on Sunday though. Probably should have gotten up an ran first. So, I'm very frustrated with this running stuff. I'm thinking about staying on week 3 until I get my form down. When I my legs get tired my form goes to crap and I start heal striking again. I think it's mostly because those other muscles are not used to being worked. Other runners I have spoken with stated the transition took them a couple of months. So, I unsure if I will push forward or repeat. Either way... not quitting!

Hey Randy! Happy to hear you're not giving up! Redoing week 3 might actually be good, I found it to be a nice, but challenging week... You can do it!!
How is your strength training going btw? I'm going to the gym tonight to do some strength training... Actually excited about it, because I haven't been going as much as usual (had a friend from overseas over at my house for five days).

Titanuim, good job on your W4D1! I'm up for that one coming Wednesday... Did you find it challenging to do the five minute runs?

And Jaccyber, cool that you're on week 4 as well :)... It's encouraging to hear that you had a good run at the start of W4! Now I can't wait for my next run!

Hi Andrea, yes that is the plan. I’m going to start again on week 3 on Monday. In the meantime I’m going to practice my running form on the days I should be running. I’ve head of a couple of different methods so I’ll try them out. One is bare foot on a soft surface. Another is taping a pea or pebble to the heel of your shoe and lastly running in a minimalist shoe.

Strength training is going ok. Mostly body weight exercises. I’m thinking of starting a program (Tacfit)to hopefully speed up my results. Enjoy your workout!! Yeah, this week will be hit and miss for me as I’m taking off until Monday starting tomorrow night. I’ll watch what I eat and work out when I can though. Hope everyone is having a great week!!

Hope you have a great week too Randy.

Week 4 Day2 is done and dusted. I had a great run. Nothing hurt and I didn't have to convince myself to keep running. It probably helped that I had two fast runnerson the treadmills on either side of me and I didn't want to shame myself. It also helped that my ipod was choosing me running tracks with a high BPM which made it easier to keep up the momentum.

I am wondering if I should buy the new asics that I have my eye on now so they are broken in for the 12km run/walk I have at the end of August or just persist with my current trainers. They are perfectly fine I just really fancy those hot pink nimbuses.

Looking forward to my run tomorrow W4 D2.

Great job Titanuim, sounds like you had a great run. So just curious... how many miles do you have on your current running shoes. Trying to figure out how often I should buy new shoes. So far I have about 60 miles on my shoes.

Great job Randy on the strength training. I think that has helped me a lot with the running. Hope week 3 treats you well.

    Good day to you all.

Jaccyber - my current shoes have a shamefully low mileage. I got them mid May and they are fairly non descript GEL 2160 . Comfortable but not amazing. My work colleague that runs with me just bought a pair of kayano's and swears that they make her run faster. But they are particularly unattractive so I don't really want a pairof those.

Was a beautiful morning for running. Got up at 4:30 am and did W4 D2. With 5 min warmup and cool down I was just a few yards shy of 2.75 miles for the session. Walked the rest for 3 miles... then jogged 1 more mile. Felt good this morning.

    Happy running everyone.

Hello everyone. It is great to read that everyone going so well. I had a few extra days off due to illness but went out again this afternoon to do W7R1. For me I have found this running caper is a mental challenge more than a physical challenge now.

Today at work we had a casual clothing day and I wore a pair of jeans that I haven’t been able to fit into for about 12 months and they felt really comfortable. Also my partner the other day who wouldn’t even normally noticed if I shaved my head (I have long hair) commented on how toned my thighs looked.

This was such good motivation for my run today. When my mind was telling me that I couldn’t do it I just kept reminding myself of how good I felt in my jeans and what my partner said. I am surprised at how motivating that was.

Have a great weekend all and enjoy your running.

    Have a great weekend, everyone!!

First... it was only in the 70's this morning so perfect weather for jogging. I jogged 1 mile this morning at 5:30am to church. Then got a ride to Arby's. At about 9:30 am I started C25K W4 D3 and went about 2.25 miles during the session (stop lights) and walked the rest to stretch it to about 3 miles. Then I jogged for 2 additional miles afterwards. The last half mile the sun was beating down otherwise it was fine for jogging. Have a super day people.

Week 5 Day 1 coming up on Monday. I think I am ready for Day 3 already, but will stick with the program and not rush anything.

    Happy running group.
