September Challenge - Me vs. The Binge

Hi Everyone! Can I get in on this? September was really bad with bingeing and eating junk and I feel like crap, physically and mentally. I haven't posted on the boards in a while and I seem to have more success when I do. I need support and help. Congrats to you all who are binge free, especially those who have more non-binge days than not. I haven't gotten more than a few consecutive days for a little while now. I'm sick of it but can't seem to stop this binge/diet cycle without a lot of support. I assume you still continue in October? Not that I'm waiting till then to start though, I'm going to have a binge-free day today. Thanks for being there and giving me inspiration and motivation.0

Wow! What an inspiration you are! YES you CAN do this!!!0 -
Well, September was a wash for me. I did a lot of backsliding, fell off the wagon pretty hard, and ate pretty crappy. But, I've recommitted (again), eaten healthy and worked out today, and set some rules for myself regarding the purchasing and impulse control aspect surrounding my binge eating. I'm optimistic that October will be good--I start a new job a week or so in, and that will provide me with more structure than I currently have now, working part-time.0

Gulp, not a good month, but I didn't end it on a binge at least! I am ready for the start of the new month and I will set a goal for this month which will be no more than 5 binges this month. Hopefully it will be less, but I need to start somewhere and then each month I am successful do one less until I am at zero.0 -
beatrixia - being able to ward off a binge after an emotional conversation w/ your mother is outstanding! i can so relate. my mom (only 53yrs old) had a stroke last Feb and she has been paralyzed on her left side ever since. i am her biggest emotional support and it is too much for me some days.
I'm sorry about your mom, Diane. Thanks for your encouraging words...

Thanks beatrixia. She broke her finger and needed some stitches. She doesn't seem bothered by it now. I have massive guilt over it because I was the one who closed the door on it and my husband is mad that I wasn't paying attention with the door. We are both coming to terms with it and it is getting easier since she is doing so well.
Being able to hold off a binge is a huge deal. In stressful times I always a little something to make me feel better. it always turns info a big something. Right now I am saying I can't have anything other than my planned meals because I have the control not to start but I don't have the control to stop.
I'm glad she is feeling better.
Guilt is a hard emotion to deal with sometimes. I think your self-awareness about sticking to your meal plan is a good coping strategy.0 -

I am back, I took a "break" and was trying to get it together and my binges went from mild to pretty intense and for a few days in a row and I felt alone and like such a failure. I realized I really NEED you all and tracking on MFP is helping more than hurting. Yesterday I had it and tried to make myself purge, which is rarely ever do. I knew that was my cry for help and needed to get back on an get back to tracking. Today was a really good day, so I will take it. I hope you all have a great weekend!
Glad you're back--see you in October.0 -

Hi greekygirl
This challenge has been really helpful to me. (It keeps me honest. Ha!)
And sometimes if I'm really struggling I'll let the ladies on my friends list from this group know; they are very supportive and know exactly what kind of support I need.
See you in October!0 -

Congrats on your new job...I find a regular routine is really helpful to me, too.
Great job on refocusing and getting moving again.0 -

Another successful month. Kept track of my food intake each and every day which makes Sept the 5th month in a row of doing this. As I mentioned in the beginning of the month, Sept has been a notoriously bad BED month for me (lots of b-day celebrations!) and having this challenge to check into really kept me on track and able to bounce back so much quicker instead of allowing the BED behavior to grab hold of me and take me under like it has in the past. Awareness is a major key in my success.
Congratulations to you all as well for continuing to be aware of, document, and analyze your own behaviors. See y'all on the October thread.0 -
