Hello! My youngest son is turning 3 this month, so I can't blame it on the baby weight anymore! One pound a week sounds do-able and would put me close to my goal weight by the end of the year...here goes nothing!0

Couldn't have said it better, "HERE I GO AGAIN". Really wanting to get to goal weight and 52lbs sounds wonderful!!! It's a new year and I'll do great until March/April and fall off the wagon and not get back on. I'm hoping that by being active on this site that I can find that extra motivation when I get burned out and tired of tracking. I've done WW, Atkins and taken almost every pill out there. I know about good foundation foods and exercise. What's going to be different this time? First, my goal is to be more active physically and mentally. I'm challenging myself to blog, post and read others blogs and posts, daily. Looking forward to getting to know you all and taking this journey 1 pound at a time:flowerforyou: !!0

Lets goo! I'm a single mother of an 8 year old beautiful boy and a 13 year old fabulous girl ! Joined this past summer, and would like to lose 60+ and ready to get back on track since the holidays are about to be over !0
-
Wuhuu, I'm in.
My name is Edgar.and I want to be able to lose some 40ish pounds for 2013.0 -
I'm only looking to lose about 20 lbs but I love all of the awesome motivation in this group My biggest problem, also, will be keeping off those 20 lbs! Having a goal for the entire year is ideal.0

Just wondering if everyone is following the recommendations by MFP or are you following some other "plan" & if so which one? I'm not sure if this is the place to get help/suggestions for a 1200 calories/day ideas or not, I've looked for groups but haven't come across one yet. If any of you can recommend one, please let me know.0
-
I follow MFP. I used to do Weight Watchers. The only difference between the two are points vs calories. They are both good programs. I had to stop going to WW cuz I couldn't afford it anymore (go figure they wanted me to pay $$$) lol...
Good luck in whatever you decide.

Hi!
My name is Val and I have been on MFP for about 4 1/2 months, down 35.5 lbs, been at a standstill the last few weeks with the holidays, but gearing up for the new year and a fresh routine! I am in!0 -

Hello all.
I have been on my weight loss journey forever. I will get close to goal then get preggers. My youngest is now 5 so I can't blame baby weight anymore. And my oldest is 18 so this has been almost a 20 year roller coaster ride of weight loss and gain. I was within 10 lbs of goal at the end of 2011. Then I herniated a disc in jan of 2012. Needless to say the past year has not been my best. I have gained back almost 20 lbs from my lowest. And I am feeling totally discouraged. I know I can do this. The idea of starting over is daunting, but having supportive friends will help.
Thanks Lelah0 -
Would love to join! I'm Lisa and have been married for almost 24 years, have one daughter that is married. I so need this challenge to get me back to my goal!0

I'm Kathy from Georgia. 52 pounds would get me close to my ultimate goal of 60-70 pounds. Count me in! The motivation and support will be great. Please feel free to add me. Let's do this!!!0

I'd love to join! I am 17.1 pounds in to my overally goal of 112 pounds to lose. I started a weight loss challenge on 10/9/12. My goal had been as follows:
1/8/13 25 # total
3/26/13 40# total (I am having jaw surgery on 3/27/12 and will be on soft food diet and no exercise for several weeks)
5/19/13 50# total (I am making assumption of weight loss based on soft diet as above)
10/9/13 (one year total time on new health plan) 100# lost
1/1/14 goal would be to reach GOAL 112 pounds down this averages 1.75# per week.
Honestly the less agressive 52 pounds gone in 2013 also sounds fantastic! I will shoot for this and be estatic if I end up reaching above outlined goals too!0 -
My name is Nicole I am a 25 and I have a sixteen month old daughter. I gained my weight gradually up to 180 pounds because I got hit by a car and kind of yo yo dieted after that between my physical therapy working I would lose weight when it worked and when it wore off I would gain it back. After I had my daughter my weight went up to 190. I lost down to 183 now and so I just need to lose the 52 pounds and I will be at my ideal weight. This group would help me a lot with that. I deal with chronic pain and treated depression even though it does creep back up once in a while. I hope to get to know you all better by doing this challenge with you this year.0

My name is Leslie. I'm a 44 year old mom of two girls aged 19 & 21, wife of a great guy for almost 24 years, and I work full time as a real estate secretary. Needless to say I'm not very active at work. Weight has been an issue for me since after my 2nd daughter was born. It's amazing how it creeps up on you. I've tried WW and it did work, just don't want to pay to lose weight. I like MFP and all the support on here. I had a hysterectomy in July 2011 and decided to really get serious about my health at that point. LOL, I did, for a while. Went from 220 down to 195, then back up to 220 again. I went gluten free this past summer and have found 2 things. First off, my joints don't hurt so exercise is actually enjoyable. Second, no more cravings for muffins, bread, cookies, cupcakes, etc. It has made the world of difference. This group is just what I need. Thank you for starting it and if you've read this far, thanks for listening. 52 lbs will bring me to goal of 140. Lost 27.5 so far and weigh less than I have in about 10 years.0

Hi Everyone, My name is Mary. While I was working I blamed my weight gain on the sedentary job. Well, now that I'm retired there's nothing I can blame the weight on. I have to do something to get it off!! I'm starting 2013 at 159 lbs - way to heavy for a 4'11" frame. I've been up and down with weight my whole life - let's keep each other motivated! This challenge is accepted0

Hi, I'm Michelle. I'm a food addict, struggling to stay in recovery. I've been married to my high school sweetheart for over 19 years. We have been blessed with 2 boys. Unfortunately, we are all overweight. My boys are not obese, yet...but if my husband and I continue down this path of self destruction, they will be.
I am 36 years old and have been a special education teacher most of my adult life. I LOVE what I do, but sometimes the stress of the job makes me crazy and then I don't log my food...but I do log in and comment on other people's postings...idk why, but I'm hoping to complete my diary every day this year.
Anyway, I look forward to getting to know you all!
Blessings!0 -
Hi Everyone!
I'm Char. I am a WLS patient and had a ton of complications (Embolism, Infections, Strictures, Fistulas, More Strictures... you get the idea). Now that I've begun to feel better I can't think of a better way than losing weight with a great group. I'm excited and motivated. I am already down 73 pounds (297) and I have an overall goal of reaching a weight of 150. This 52 will be a great start for me.0 -
52 pounds seems very do-able!!
I'm 35 yrs old. I'm the mother of a ten year old son. Work full time. Will be trying to incorporate my Zumba exhilarate DVDs. My goal is higher than 52 lbs but it's an awesome 2013 goal. :bigsmile:0 -
This will get me right to my goal of under 170! I'm 5'9, currently 220. Hi, I'm Sarah, turning 30 in March, mother of a 3 year old son. Nice to meet all of you, can't wait to lose some weight with you guys! Here's to us in the New Year! :drinker:0
-
I'd like to join this challenge, thanks!
I'm aiming to lose more than 52 pounds, but I don't expect it to be all this year. I've been overweight since before I was 1 year old, I don't remember ever not being overweight, but now it's time to take it off for good. I'm a working Mom in a sedentary job which makes things challenging, so I'm adding a couple of high energy hobbies that I'll enjoy and I'm hoping will be more likely to stick to.
I really like food. I'm looking for a couple of buddies also so we can watch each others news feeds and encourage each other. Message me or friend me if you're interested.0 -
I also have the goal to lose one pound per week. I'm new to MFP, but not new to weight loss. I have a looooong way to go to get back to my pre-marriage weight, but 52 lbs in 2013 will be great start! I'm not afraid of exercise, but do it inconsistently. I get lazy with tracking my calories, and I'm hoping MFP will be the tool that helps me stay focused!
Best wishes, everyone!0 -
Hey all! I'm Kelsie, and this group is exactly what I need for the new year. I started a new job in August, and I shifted all my attention to work instead of weight loss. Now I'm ready to get back on track. I'll be turning 30 in a few weeks, and I'm looking forward to being fabulous as I set the stage for a new decade of life.0

I am 35, 5'3", 237.6 pounds and have been dieting basically my whole life. This is the year it ends.
I finally got serious and got a bodymedia armband so I have real data to work with and will be following Bob's Skinny rules for what I eat. I put together a little home gym with a treadmill, spin bike, stair stepper, dumbbells, workout videos from Bob and Jillian, and a couple great iPhone trainer apps.
Lets do this thing! One pound a week would end the year at 185 for me.0 -
Hi everyone,
What kind of contact do you want to have for this group? Being supportive means interaction.... Do you want to keep this thread and try to make sure everyone stays in contact weekly, twice a week, daily, or ? I belong to another really really active thread, and we all try to stay in touch, read each other's postings, comment, support, laugh. Lately they have created weightloss songs to make everyone laugh at the challenges of Christmas food, exercise goals, etc. Using either O Christmas Tree, or Jingle Bells, or ? forgot the third song...here are the various verses the members have made! Enjoy
O Fitness Pal, My Fitness Pal,
How steadfast are thy diaries.
O Fitness Pal, My Fitness Pal,
We need our daily entries!
Your member boards are full of fans,
Full of facts, and diet plans
O Fitness Pal, My Fitness Pal,
You've given us a road map.
Jingle Bells, fitness pals, losing all the way
o what fun it is to log and see what others say
Jingle Bells, kettle bells, muscles really pay
For all the exercise we do each and every day – hey
Jingle Bells, Fitness Pals,
Losing all the way---,
Oh, what fun it is to write
Our food log every day---,
Jingle Bells, Fitness Pals,
Losing every day---,
Drink your water, Janie, dear,
Have a happy, leaner day--Hooray!
Sing to the tune of Jingle bells (beginning verse and chorus)...
Oh, I stubbed my toe
Kettle bells were in my way
When the rope I jumped
For keeping fit to stay.
Get my trainer in the ring
Sock him with a right
Left upper cut to the chin
And he’s out for the night.
Oh jingle bells, this shirt smells
How much do I weigh???
Oh what fun to lift those weights to keep those pounds at Baaa-aay!
Jingle bells, this shirt smells
I weigh how much you say???
Oh, nuts! Oh, fudge! Hey that sounds good…no, no that’s—how—you—got—this—way!!
Dashing to the pot,
Then stepping on the scale,
Hoping to be down,
To kiss goodbye the whale!
When numbers do decrease
We shout and sing O my!
What fun it is to finally see
A normal BMI!
Oh!
Jiggle Buns, Jiggle Buns
Jiggle all the way
Shake the fannies, wave the arms
Each and every day, hey!
Jiggle Buns, Jiggle Buns
Jiggle all the way
Oh what fun it is to see
Our fat just melt away!

sing slowly to the tune of We Three Kings...
We Three Pounds of Holiday Pudge
Gath'ring 'round from all of the fudge
Holding on to thighs and ab-do-mens
Now we can barely budge.
Oh--
Pounds of peanuts, pounds of fat
Pounds of cookies, this and that
We'll be brooding and protruding!
Guide us from thy sweets at last.
We three pounds of holiday pudge,
Mama's dressing, yeast rolls and fudge,
Spread the table, hardly able to resist each special treat.
Oh,---- Here's the eggnog, spiked with rum,
Christmas cookies, by the ton,
Cakes and pies and special candies,
That's why we weigh a ton!
