    Today's workout:
Squat: 115x5x5 (Wth happened? I put 15lbs on my squat in a week?? Must be the chucks...)
OHP: Had to deload to 60 today. 60x3x5
Dead: Took it easy with 135x5 (felt really good after!!!)
Some extra core work and a 20 minute walk on the treadmill.

So...I hit (surpassed) my squat goal (115x3x5) for Feb. already :drinker:

ETA: Tomorrow is progress pics day...not to excited about it. Been trying to eat at a surplus while lifting for a couple weeks now. Weight is down .2lb but everything feel bloated (TOM).

Lauren- OHP thing: Make sure you're looking forward. Ideally you're only looking up long enough to get the bar past your head, and then you bring your head right back down. Hopefully everyone's tips keep your neck tip top!

I read in another thread about the problem of wearing running shoes whilst lifting. Today my weigh was such that I started to notice how it made me tilt in my squat, so I went for it and did my sets without my shoes and noticed a big difference. Thanks for the tip!

I noticed i was doing this the other day too. maybe i should switch out my shoes. unfortunately, i cannot go sans shoes. kinda a requirement at my gym.

Just take an extra pair in your gym bag, both me and another guy at my gym do that. I usually wear my converse then stick my vibrams in my bag so I can run afterwards. (And yes, hard flat sole IS slightly better than barefeet, but barefeet are fine too)

I lift in my zumba shoes.....yes, there are zumba shoes. They are a flatter shoe as well and they are girly, pink and gray.

Hey girls, those of you who have been around a while, I'm gonna put together a FAQ for this group and sticky. Private message me some of the questions you've seen and as many answers as you like. I'm thinking things like

    1) How many calories/how much protein should I eat? What should my macros be?
    2) I can't squat low enough
    3) I lose my balance when I squat

etc. Its not that I mind clarifying for people who are confused but since there's no way to search just inside a group people have to keep re-asking the same questions over and over. At some point we're all gonna burn out on answering.

In other news, JESUS H CHRIST ON A FREAKING CRACKER I have been so HUNGRY today. I just wolfed down a kashi bar and a banana because I thought I was going to DIE. :/ Maybe its time for a diet break? But, like, ffs, I eat so much already....

So...I hit (surpassed) my squat goal (115x3x5) for Feb. already :drinker:

Ha, awesome! Now you need a real goal.

Ok, finally made it into the gym after the sleeping in incident. Someone was on the squat rack after my warmup, so I started with bench, and was so busy trying to calculate weights right that I ended up skipping warmup reps; not good. I majorly struggled with my bench even though I only added 2.5lbs (72.5 total). Almost dropped the bar on myself on my last rep, but got it to the first peg at least. Then I went to do squats, and I noticed my hands were shaking. Did squats at 55 for the last time this week and plan on adding on Sunday. But I almost lost it on the last squat. Seriously? This should be a piece of cake.

I did deload for the rows and remembered warm up sets. I was pushing to hard too fast, and my form was suffering. So I did 5x5 at 60lbs. It actually went ok.

When I finished I had the lovely drive home in traffic (love going through the galleria area - NOT). My hands were still shaking, and I was thinking it's almost like I had a really low blood sugar. And that's when I realized the last thing I ate was a cookie at 1:30. I really am an idiot, and apparently I enjoy sabotaging my workouts. :grumble:

    Awww poor audii. Sooooooothe

Vette you are ferocious this week. Let me go grab the fire extinguisher!

Today was workout 21 for me which means I've done 7 weeks worth of workouts. Holy crap. Time flies when you're too tired from lifting to think about much else. =D

    Squat 110 5x5 Nailed it
    Bench 85 5x5 Nailed it
Row 85 5x5 Hard, and my last rep of my last set was a little sloppy. = / I'll do better next time!

ETA: Total NSV of catching a reflection of my naked booty and seeing that almost all the cellulite was gone. I'm lucky enough to not have much/any when I'm skinny (don't worry I get terrible stretch marks:tongue: ) but at 201 I definitely had a bit going on in the tush area. If I had the energy I'd go do another 5x5 of squats just thinking about how much better my butt looks.

    Hello ladies!

I had a great work out today.
    Squats 140 5x5
    Bench 5x5
    Row 75 5x5

I was a bit wobbly and shaky on the last 2 reps of the squats, but I got them up. I'm going to stay at 140 for at least 1 or 2 more workouts. Do any of you do that?? Stick with the same weight because you don't feel like you can or should move up on the next session.

I feel like I've been far too whiny on here lately. So today will be a good day. Was only up half a pound this week (I was expecting worse since I lifted yesterday, and I normally have an extra day off to lose the water retention). Starting with cardio (slight boo, but I have a good book to read), and then I have a wedding to shoot tonight. And it doesn't end insanely late, so I should be good to go for lifting tomorrow. One of the nice things about losing 20lbs already is that I'm not nearly as sore the day after weddings. My feet used to kill me. Now, it's not so bad.

So I noticed 10 lbs feels like nothing today, when did that happen??? Also I killed it today!!! Total Bamf!!!

    Squat 1x5 95. 3x5 105 1x5 115
    OHP 5x5 55
Deadlift 1x5 140 and then just to see... 1x 160!!!

And I used chalk today, totally made a difference.

I'm coming to get you ladies!!! I'm gonna hit it and and quit it!

No to go purchase boots to look hot for tonight.

Sidenote: Last time I did the OHP, I had a really sore neck the next day. I had 3 bulging discs about a year and a half ago, caused numbness in arm, lots of pain. I have been feeling good as of lately, and I don't want SL to cause a flare up. Any suggestions on form during OHP?? I thought mine was OK but maybe I need to make some adjustments!

Laurenlou, sorry about this. I have a similar problem - we can be injured lifting buddies together. We just have to work around it - I don't want to stop lifting this time just because my body protests (I stopped lifting a few years ago, that turned out badly). I don't know much about form on ohp either, I'm just going very carefully with increasing weight.

These boots were made for lifting... Go Darwin. The best part is any doms will be overshadowed by your hangover. :drinker:

Audii it's okay to vent sometimes, but it's also awesome you have such a take charge I'm-going-to-be-happy-darn-it attitude. The best thing about photographers is they shoot everything. It just makes me giggle. "Yeah I shoot weddings and babies mostly."

There's a dead lifting meet here today, so I might swing by and watch some people lift heavy things. I think it'll be interesting. It already started and goes for a few hours so I hope it's like any other sporting event where it's okay to pop in and out. Oddly Emily post does not have a power lifting section.

Official Comparison Day - Week 16 of lifting really heavy things. I am eating 2100+/day this week and I am down about a pound from last month. Waist measurement is up .5in.
    FrontCompareSL16Weeks_zps50b82f05.jpg

Then I just wanted to throw this in here...I was playing around with not flexing and noticed two things: I  my shoulders!!!! and I think I am starting to see what appears to be the beginning of a "v-line" or whatever you call a female version of the adonis line. Happy Dance!!!
    pose_zpsbe99d11c.jpg
    No lifting today, rest day...boo!

I need to pick up my game, Darwin is coming up quick!

Auddii - Off topic, but who makes that beer in your avatar?

Fittree - You're a photographer? Somehow I didn't catch that before. And go to the meet! We are having our state championship PL meet in a couple weekends here. I am planning on going to watch people lift some stuff! Maybe we can submit the PL info for Emily Post - b/c you are right, the newest addition doesn't mention things of that nature, lol.

ETA: I couldn't find my normal bikini, so I dug out this old gem. I purchased it my freshman year of college...circa 2004, lol. NSV!

No Audii is! She used sneaky photog talk though. She must work for the CIA in her off time.

I want obliques so badddddddd. Like I don't care if I get a 6pack, but a nice vcut aka oblique awesomeness would be sweet. Also you don't usually need as low of bf to have it show. All dependent on the individual ofc.

ETA: You look totally bada$$ and great!

Vette, I was going to say your shoulders are amazing (and then I kept reading and realized you already know that )! You're looking amazing.

And the beers are several smaller releases by Sam Adams. I think it's the brewmasters collection, but I'm not sure since there website is so not helpful with photos. The imperial pumpkin was really good, but it's seasonal. All of the others are still in stores.

And yup, I'm a photographer, although mostly as a hobby. I am a second shooter for a wedding photographer, and it allows me to make some extra money on the weekends. Not my full time job though.

Auddii - I have never seen those particular ones. We are big fans of Sam Adams and purchase the seasonal variety packs (just picked up the Spring Thaw yesterday) but haven't seen the brewmaster's collection anywhere.

    Have fun shooting the wedding!

As far as I know they are only sold in large bottles, and in my particular liquor store, that's a different section than where the six packs are.

I dont know WTF if going on with my left knee.... it was fine, I walked into the gym yesterday and went to take my jacket off & had a shooting pain across my kneecap... I could hardly put any weight on it...I put a kneebrace on it...made walking nearly impossible

suffice to say yesterday's workout didnt get done.... I did get thru today's swim lass but my pain still hurts...a LOT

going to the Dr Monday for something else, gonna get a referral for Xray while Im at it....

looking at the kneecap, it looks out of place.... I can literally wiggle it.... cant even imagine how this happened...

    Im bummed

I love all of these progress photos!! You guys look amazing!

I'm feeling slug like. Well hungry slug like. I actually feel like I could get up and work out but then I try to get something out of the refrigerator and my back twinges. Sigh. I seem to be ok doing the elliptical but when I read all of your wonderful lifting weights doing the machine doesn't seem that thrilling.

After getting blood work done yesterday I went searching for lifting shoes. No success. I have short, wide and curvy feet. The converse type have a straight last so I don't think they will work for me. I think they look very cool so the vain part of me was hoping they would work!! I have another question. Is it just the flatness of the shoes or is it the the lack of padding that is important for lifting? If I wear my birkenstock insoles will that defeat the purpose of having these flat shoes? I need the arch support.

Fisher and HIIT, sorry to hear about your body troubles. I know how it feels to sit on the sidelines while everyone else is having fun. HIIT, its a good thing you are gonna get that checked out by a Dr. I don't think you should be able to wiggle your knee cap and it kinda makes me puke to think about *heebie jeebies*

Fisher, I think its the non-compression of the shoes that helps with the lifting.

My understanding is it shouldn't be squishy, and it should be flat- meaning your foot should be parallel to the floor when you wear them. Most running shoes and xtrainers have a higher heel than toe. I would imagine your arch supports should be fine.

HIIT- That totally sucks about your knee. I hope you get speedy care, and have a speedy recovery.

I made it to the last hour of the dead lift competition, and got to see a guy pull 900! It was pretty awesome I must say. Also I don't feel nearly as badly about the ridiculous faces I make when lifting heavy things. (Mainly when I OHP.)
