One more on intermittent fasting, but really a lot of interesting stuff here and sort of lacks real info about IF, but has great stuff about diet and fat loss:

Thanks, Beeps!2 -

I like her healthy recipes.
Not sure if this is the place to put this, but I thought someone might like it.3 -

good stuff on the video, I guess she is not a supporter of the cheat day;)0

Here is a good article about why HRM's cannot measure calorie-burn for strength training, and unless you are circuit training, you are not burning a lot of calories in strength training:
http://www.sparkpeople.com/community/ask_the_experts.asp?q=75
but those muscles are important, anyway!0 -
Hey, thanks for the link to fitnessblackbook.com. I randomly clicked it and found a great explanation of HIIT, plus an HIIT elliptical workout which I am headed off to try today!
I am new to mfp's message boards and would love some more friends. Please add me!3 -

this is a fantastic article! thank you for posting. definitely a must read for girls "just trying to lose that last five pounds." it's not always the number the the scale. this girl is a weight that some might think sounds "heavy" but she looks awesome!0 -
Oh, I realized I have not added this one:

My Body Gallery is where you can look at women who post their pics with their height and weight.
Sometimes it's a good reminder that a certain weight looks very different on different women. It might also help you to see whether your goal weight is realistic.2 -
Rachel Cosgrove wrote this workout for abs:

I am thinking of trying it, is 6 weeks, though, so maybe I will do it closer to summer...0 -

Wow, this is an eye opener !!! It is so hard to believe how much better she looks with 25 more pounds on her. (Of course, they are muscle...but still !!!) Very impressive.
I really do not look as heavy as I weigh but I do have extra padding of fat, mainly my torso. Middrif, waist, oh, and, my back....I hate my back. I have found that I can sort of firm up these areas but can not lose the padding without losing more weight. By-the-way, I am a little over 5' 4" and weigh 150. I center my workouts around my core, hoping to firm more. Does anyone have any advice for me?0 -
Bump for later0

I just saw this great link about why it's so hard to replace fat with muscle, i.e. losing fat while gaining muscle:
http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/fat-loss/adding-muscle-while-losing-fat-qa.html
I also thought this was interesting-we all know that it's easier to get back in shape once you have been in shape, but I didn't realize it was "before after" scam for supplements:
A second situation where this phenomenon occurs readily (fat lose with muscle gain) is folks returning from a layoff. Folks who are previously lean and muscular but who get out of shape (whether deliberately or not) often find that they get back into shape much faster than they did initially: they seem to magically replace fat with muscle. In fact, with the advent of before/after transformation pictures for supplements, this has become a growth industry: people who are already in great shape will deliberately get out of great shape so that they can quickly reattain their previous shape in a short period. Apparently there is huge money in selling such before/after pictures to help move supplements.0 -

Thanks for the links!
I've been bodyrocking for a month now and I love it. I would definitively recommend it!0 -
Here is a good one:
http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/fat-loss/why-big-caloric-deficits-and-lots-of-activity-can-hurt-fat-loss.html
It's called "why big caloric deficits and lots of activity can hurt fat loss" but we may never know why, we just know that it does:happy:1 -

THANKS!!!! This is making me rethink my exercise plan completely.
Is it still efficient to do some elliptical if we pick the program that alternates low and high resistance?0 -
wazert, I think you are talking about HIIT, which is still recommended for fat burning.1

I will definitely do that next time I go to the gym. I have learned so much from reading the nerdfitness website today!! Thanks for the link!0

something to think about:
"The Reverse Taper Diet " :
The Theory of Fat Availability:
•There is a set amount of fat that can be released from a fat cell.
•The more fat you have, the more fat can be used as a fuel when dieting.
•The less fat you have, the less fat can be used as a fuel when dieting.
•Towards the end of a transformation, when body fat is extremely low you
may not have enough fat to handle a large caloric deficit anymore.
At the extreme low end, when your body fat cannot ‘keep up’ with the energy deficit
you've imposed on your body, the energy MUST come from SOMEWHERE. This is
when you are at risk of losing lean body mass during dieting (commonly referred to
as ‘starvation mode’). This happens at extremely low levels of body fat, under 6% in
men and 12% in women [Friedl K.E. J Appl Phsiol, 1994].
The leaner you get the less your body has to draw from and then you have to up your calories. There is no such thing as starvation mode for women over 12% body fat or men over 6% body fat.1 -

HOLY CRAP! This is amazing. I'm going to make my boyfriend read it. He's a runner and love it but he's also said more than once that he'd like to gain a little more muscle!0 -
Thank you for this great list!0

I just checked out this website and it really has opened my eyes to 'Real Women'. I see what you mean about how different shaped women can look so totally different. Thanks x1 -
This article provided so much insight to weight lifting and the diet that should accompany it. Thank you so much for sharing this. Since I'm lifting a lot of weights, I know realize that I am eating way too little!0
