    I'm glad you shared =)

Topomax is used for a lot of things. I was on a really low dose to help with my eating urges (some of the medicines I am on make me HUNGRY). It helped some. About 3 yrs later when I started with the daily chronic migraines they upped the dose through the roof. I thought I should have wasted away to nothing since you aren't supposed to want to eat while on it. I ended up coming totally off it. It didn't make a difference in the migraines or to the eating after the high dose.

Now I find that when I am hungry at night, I drink a protein shake (30g protein, 6 carbs) and I am not usually hungry til morning.

However, since I have started exercising more, I am finding that I get hungry after working out and get the munchies horribly again at night and the protein shake isn't helping that. Although, come to think of it, I think the couple of days I really noticed it, I had eaten a lot of carbs. More than I usually do, so I will have to watch and see if that was the cause. I am a total carb-o-holic and I stay away from them as much as I can. Sometimes, it is soooo hard too.

Good luck with the topomax, though if you are planning on having more children, it can cause serious side effects to the unborn child.

Strangely enough, I have to drink 10-12 glasses of water a day to keep the water weight off. If I drink less, I don't get rid of it. Takes a couple of days to kick back in, when I have a couple of off days. =)

Thanks for the info!! Topomax is the medicine she wants to try. Also she mentioned a appetite suppressant but I am against that. I don't want to take something then when I go off it I gain the weight back. I am working on the binge eating disorder so maybe the medicine can help until I get that under control. I have a while to decide though.

As of today I am 7 pounds up on the scale. I am hoping it is all water weight and will be gone soon. I am so mad at myself for slipping. I am back on track now but I want to cry that I let myself do this.
Someday I will get this figured out.

I also have to travel this weekend!! My son's team is out of town. Hubby and son leaving today. I will go on Friday with the other son (my oldest has some things we did not want him to miss)

I am trying to figure out what foods the hotel has at breakfast. I hope some eggs and fruit. I am scared it will all be greasy crap. We cannot afford to buy breakfast when it is included in the room.

You may not hear from me much the next few days...

my nsv day was to finally accept compliments about my weightloss and running.
apparently my whole neighbourhood decided to notice my efforts this week and it took me some time to just stand there and be proud and say: yup, I did this, it was not always easy, but it was the best decision I ever made for myself!

That's great! You get up and go do. That is fantastic considering you have a rotating schedule and hubby to keep track of =)

Well ladies, I'm back! I had a wonderful time with the kids (and the adult sponsors) and can't wait until next year!! I am pushing 50, but I felt so young this week (except for the few times the ol body reminded me otherwise, lol)!

So much to share! I walked a bunch, 8 miles the first day, just getting used to the layout of the campgrounds (our cabin was the farthest from the activities hall) and checking in on kids (boys in a different cabin/area). I also ate a bunch! Upped my calories to maintenance for the week, but the internet / phone service was so bad, I didn't log much. I stayed up late (imagine 30 girls all in one location, giggling and talking all night) and got up early every day, so kind of tired and dragging right now. But I did get a bunch of compliments on my weight loss (several people from the district I hadn't seen in several months) and the biggest NSV, or maybe I should call it an "Ah ha" moment, was when I bought a t-shirt from the band that was there. I guess it didn't really sink in that I DO NOT wear an XL any more! I purchased an XL and tried it on and it was like a tent! Thankfully, I was able to exchange it! I finally understand that I am not as big as I was! Sooooo, I celebrated and went into town for supplies and on a whim, got a cute little hair cut! The other sponsor that was with our group told me I looked so much younger! Of course, my son (his last year as a camper) had a hard time finding me in the crowd. He also told me his dad was going to be upset, but hubby took it well (he loves long hair).

Now that I am back, I am really having a difficult time staying out of the snacks! We had them in our cabin and I ate 3 meals each day (I usually never eat breakfast) so it may take a day or two to get back into the swing of things. I didn't weigh myself all week and think I might even wait another week to hopefully even things out again. It was kind of liberating to not be tied to that scale.

Looks like I missed out on a bunch, but I'll get caught up with posting and what is going on with everyone soon. Missed you all! Now, I need to go ride my bike!

Glad you had a good time and are back =)

My NSV day was meeting with my Chronic Pain Group and talking about how to change my focus from "being successful doing things such as work, etc which I can no longer do" to how to "like myself as a person and be successful as a person". This is really tough for me to do.

I thought my weight was going to go down ( I sneaked a peak a couple of days ago) but alas, I stayed the same =(

I believe it is Campers, not Councelors "Camper's Choice Day (Campers choose any weekly challenge not listed for this week) "

Today was my NSV Day! I did some major deep cleaning around the house for over four hours! Since my health has deteriorated in 2007, I haven't had the energy to clean house like I should. I have a lot more to do, but today was a major accomplishment for me. My legs are sore and I must have sweated out a couple pounds of water, but that's okay. Let's see what I do tomorrow!

I also posted this on the main thread, as I'm not really sure if I should do it here, there, or both places..

I've been away from home again, so that always messes up my eating and exercise routines. My first night away, I ate so much junk food, I felt terrible. I tried to do better the next couple days, but now that I'm home, I can get back on track. Sometimes I am my own worst enemy!

    spacecurly Glad you are resting!

Some of you know I had a rough weekend and Monday. I have been doing better. I added some calories (since I always feel hungry lately), added protein and am lowing carbs some (I was eating way too many carbs)

I am working on the farm today so I am doing Community Day as my campers choice :)

I hope everyone is staying cool. I see that there is record heat all over lately. Here it will be around 100 and I will be on a farm. YIKES!

Karendee4 Hopefully the added calories and protein take that hunger away! I was hungry all day yesterday. I eat walnuts when I get hungry. I take the half cup applesauce containers and use them as a easy measure.

Nothing seemed to curb my hunger the last couple weeks.

So far adding more protein and watching my carbs is helping. I hope it continues. I cannot have another binge. It wipes away weeks of hard work.

It is hot today again so I will do exercise inside. Maybe a video on youtube or some machines at clubhouse.

At least tomorrow it will be cooler here, still warm but not so hot!

Hey everyone! I've been kinda busy and a bit off this week, but even though I haven't been active on the board, I've been keeping up.

Sunday, I did Appreciating Nature Day and sat in my yard and enjoyed the shade and watched some of the many animals we have around. We have a young doe that walks around our house as well as a couple of turkeys, a fox, some new baby bunnies and a million squirrels. They all showed up except the fox (he saves his visits for evening).

Monday was NSV Day. While I was away at camp, I made a quick trip into town for supplies and got my hair cut (totally on a whim, nothing planned at all) and when I went to work Monday, I got tons of compliments and several asked if I had lost more weight (which I have NOT). They said the hair cut made me look thinner and between that and the weight loss, I looked younger.

Tuesday was Art Appreciation Day. I spent about an hour online looking over some computer generated art.

Wednesday was Body Toning Day - Arms and I did some bent over dumbbell rows (and yes, my arms are sore!).

Thursday I did Gardening Day, but not very enthusiastically! I actually pulled a few weeds from the flower beds. I guess I'll count it, lol!

Today is my regular weight lifting routine and so I thought I'd pick Camper's Choice and do a leg workout. Have some squats and lunges planned for the workout.

And for Saturday, that just leaves Movie Critic Day. Gonna have to dust off an oldie!

Hope everyone is doing well. I'll dust off my funk soon and be back to normal! Make it an awesome weekend!!

Karen, I know how you feel. That has been my week this week. I just can't seem to curb the appetite. I have been trying to do things to keep busy so I don't eat, but nothing is working. I am wondering if I am not getting enough sleep (idea from spacecurly's post) or if I need to be taking some type of multivitamin. All I think about is stuffing my face. I have these weird cravings (right now, stovetop stuffing comes to mind) and nothing makes it go away! Going to have to figure this one out!

I bet the vitamin would help - I know if I don't take mine, I seem hungrier =(

I never thought of vitamins helping. The higher protein does help me. I have Crohn's disease so and some vitamins make me sick. I have to take them very rarely. I only do chewable too. :) I cannot swallow those huge ones. lol (I have Gerd too, lucky me)

I hope everyone is doing well!

Sorry I haven't been on much - I miss "chatting". It will be a couple of weeks before I can do more than just "check-in". I managed to lose 3 lbs this week =) so I was excited about that, since the last couple of weeks I have stayed the same. Maybe I should workout on Saturday more often lol. I just had to share.

By the way for other authors that are good - (I am going back though my collection again) Thea Harrison's Elder Races is good.

Hope everyone has a good week!

I had a pretty rough week extra shifts had taken its toll on me and even though I got some workouts done, I had way to much food!

It started earier in the week hen my husband asked me after I came home from late shift, if I wanted to have a little something.
My little something turned out to be an over 2000 cal meal... every day after that I tried to turn the boat around and ended up with icecream as a way of comfort and/ or stress reliever!
Not good, I am happy for the new week!

Even though I had a lot of food on sunday I made up for it on a more than 2 hour hike in the blasting sun!

So for sunday I call it a family day!!

Hope you all have a good week, now it is time to take actions on the decisions I made on the weekend (food and life wise!!!)

    Nice job on the hike!!

I have been doing much better. Adding some calories keeps me from feeling deprived and later binging

Hi everyone! It has been a busy last few weeks and I am feeling a bit guilty for not responding more. Hopefully, things will begin to calm down a bit, lol.

Sounds like everyone has been busy and going through struggles like I have. I am so stuck on my weight loss and things have been going up and down on the scale for me. I am trying hard not to lose the victory! I bought a blouse the other day for a conference i am going to this weekend. Fit fine when I bought it, but when I tried it on for my hubby, it was a bit snug. Grr, that is frustrating!

Prephred, good job on the weight loss! Keep it up!

Karen, I have added calories as well. I just seemed so darn hungry all the time and then I just couldn't say no to anything offered. I seem to be doing better with the increased calories. I decided that if I don't lose anything on increased calories, at least I'll have a much needed break!

Spacecurly, sounds like an awesome hike. I love being in the sun, it makes me feel so healthy and alive.

Well, hope everyone has a good day!

Hey guys, several of you mentioned more calories so I will tell you my tale. It's been really weird. I actually got my metabolic rate checked by a machine (think breathalyzer for 10 min). When I did this, it showed my resting metabolic rate was 2800 calories. The dietician had me eat 2500 calories at the start of my weight loss and told me about MFP. It was really hard to eat that much because I had been eating 1200 - 1500 calories for years and I lost the same 50lbs about 10 times. This time I gained the first couple of weeks but then started dropping. It has been steady going down. I now eat 2100 calories but I haven't been eating back my exercise unless I am starving. (And I have been able to exercise more lately thanks to you all motivating me.)

I checked both times I had the breathalyzer test done and both times, MFP was within 50 calories of what the dietician calculated. She told me make sure I ate to within a couple hundred calories of the calculated calories or my body would go back into starvation mode. I was worried that the few weeks I hadn't lost that I was going back into starvation mode but it was my regular fluctuation I think, because the trend overall has been down and this week I lost so much, usually it is a pound or 1.5 lbs.

I also have found I have to get my water in - and the last few days have been really tough so I am hoping I can keep on it so I dont have water weight on Sunday.

Sweet hike, spacecurly =) Good luck with the extra shifts too.

Hello! Been a tough week for me. I have almost given up several times.

I am doing Appreciating Nature day today. We are also doing some geocaching. You look for hidden items by other people. It will be our first time trying it. You use a GPS or your phone.

Like I said, it is weird. I feel guilty sometimes eating so much (and it's hard to eat healthy eating that much) but it is working. I am going to lose this weight and keep on going this time. It's frustrating too in a way cus the last 3 times I put on so much weight it came from medication changes and it has always been so tough for me to lose anyway. It was like adding insult to injury.

The mindwork we have to do to loosing weight sometimes feels ridiculous, doesn´t it?

A couple of days ago I had to check mfp recording and the scale twice during the day (which I never do, I weight in once a week!), to convince myself, that I am not the same fat person from last year, that I am not over 200 pounds anymore and also that I am more active than last year!
It was kind of driving me crazy, because it felt like a panic attack coming out of the blue!

Part of my brain knew I was going ballistic over nothing, but I needed the reassurence anyway!

I also had some medication contribute to my weight gain. I swear that type of weight is very hard to lose! Thanks for sharing your experience!!

    spacecurly
I have a hard time seeing how much I have lost. I was just thinking I might need to put my fat pics up right in front of my face. I need to look at them more and remember how far I have come and not how far I have to go.

    ....

A tough day for me. I am not doing well lately. I have a binge eating disorder and my doctor is not helping. I was hoping for some therapy and tools to deal with my issues etc.
I won't give up but I have to admit it really crossed my mind.

I did some cabin cleaning today. Yesterday we went hiking and geocashing. (appreciating nature day Sunday) (where you find hidden objects with a GPS) On Saturday my 13 year old and I went hiking in a state park. It was so pretty. He loved it so we will do it again.

Tomorrow I volunteer on the farm so I am counting as pay it back day. I usually pack the food pantry food. So that works for me. ;)
