Thanks for posting this. I only made it through the first 7-8 contributors thus far, but it gave me food for thought. Sometimes I miss the forest for the trees. I have a little more fat to lose. Cardio burns fat. Let's do cardio! :noway:
I don't do much cardio, but I think my timing of the cardio has not been thought out (in relation to my lifting). Also, I think somewhere in my head I am using cardio as an excuse to eat more.
Action items. Clean up some sloppiness in my diet to lose the fat. Be as primed as possible for lifting sessions rather than using my fuel for cardio,0 -
Wow I should get to log reading this as LISS...
I think the last paragraph say it all:
There’s no single best type of cardio for everyone. Low, moderate and high intensity exercise can ALL help you burn fat. When intensity is low, it simply takes much more time and volume to get the same results. If the type, frequency, duration and mode aren’t carefully chosen, you could compromise strength and muscle gains.0 -
Nice to get all these experts to chime in! Oh, and that deadlift video scared the hell outta me! :noway:0

ick cardio...
I have a love hate relationship with it cardio but read (skimmed some read some) and it was nice to see that cardio is not king but it can contribute to fat loss if you choose to do it in a manner that you enjoy but it is not the necessity that we woman have been told it is.0 -

Good read.
For what it's worth, my most successful clients tend to do wayyy less conditioning work than what I see logged around these forums.0 -

So the answer seems to be yes, do cardio. HIIT burns more calories which in turn burns more fat. However HIIT when overdone can be catabolic and affect lifting.
LISS takes longer to do and burns less caloires.
HISS seems to be the best of both worlds. Yet, if you overdo it it can negatively affect lifting.0 -

I just tried to read the article and I got a 404 error (((
I really needed some input into cardio and fat loss...
PS - I change it up, alternating between LISS and HIIT 6 days a week. But my BF% seems stuck despite continuing weight loss.0 -
Error 404. :grumble:
Tagging anyway in case this article crops up in another link somewhere.0 -
