Did You Lift Heavy Things Today?

Eric- that hotel gym sounds sweet, have safe travels. Was it international chest day twice since you crossed the international date line?
Biceps: preacher curls, curling bar (21 gun salute), dumbells
Back: pull ups (machine assisted), Row, dumbell lift
Cardio: 30 min jog0 -
This morning was deadlifts, step-up lunges, lat pulldowns, shoulder presses and reverse crunch (which I truly hate) .... Just two more workouts left and I've completed New Rules of Lifting Break-In! This is from the guy who swore for ever that all you needed was body weight and cardio!
To make it even better, my wife, who loves Beach Body workouts, came to the gym with me. She's been researching forever and decided that heavy lifting was the solution to her tummy and thigh issues (none of us would think there's an issue, but she does). So, she's on the Nia Shanks Beautiful Badass program now. 5:30 AM, she was doing squats in the squat rack!
It's a great day to pick up heavy things, gotta say!
Yeah, the gym was sweet .... never seen anything that nice in a hotel before. Yep, pretty sure it was International Chest Day twice. Gotta say, when I flew up that was the longest day ever .... like 44 hours long!0 -
Skipped my workout as I finished my work and was able to push my flight up two days. I should get home by Tuesday, late afternoon. I figure a walk then, a walk on Wednesday morning, and I'll get back in the gym for a leg day (I've been brainstorming a squat circuit).0

Heavy things lifted last night:
- Bench Press (187.5#)
- Dumbbell Curl (40#)
- Squats (300#)
Unless I hit a reset, I should be back to squatting 3 plates for reps (base camp for 405) by the end of next week.
Eric - Great news about being close to completing your program, and your wife's decision to lift heavy!
amisnercpa - A squat circuit sounds very nasty. Have fun!0 -

Yep, almost done with Break-In .... after that it is New Rules of Lifting Fat Loss I (6 weeks), Fat Loss II (6 weeks), then probably Strength I .... anyone else done NRoL? So far I really am enjoying it, but I'm a newbie so what do I know.0 -
Off day for me today. I don't lift super heavy but do CrossFit.0

Lol. I must confess that part of my dumbbells include a pair of green 3 pounders. They belong to my daughter.0 -

This week is a rest/recovery week for me after New Rules Break-In. Still going to gym every morning with my wife, spotting her lifts and getting some stretching and light calisthenics in. Next week I start Fat Loss I, should be interesting.0

Back and Biceps last Sunday- Curls, Pull Ups, Row etc... + cardio

Back to lifting today, after 2 weeks of slacking off. Today was upper body. Felt good.0

Worked abs, triceps, lats, shoulders and chest today. Last two are my weakest areas. Lot of work there. Easy progress, right?0

Outstanding! The first step is always the hardest. Keep moving forward!0 -
Legs day. Tough one at that. I'm really trying to master the front squat, but just don't feel comfortable with it. Wrist and shoulder flexibility might not be what I need it to be. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.0

I'm sure you already know the drills on stretching so I wont even mention it.
Make sure you're not rounding your back in the slightest. Could be unintentionally doing it and when you do it makes it so much more of a stretch to get your hands in proper position bc your elbows wont get as high as they need to be. Keep your elbows high!
Past that I would make sure the bar position is right on. You should be able to deload to just the bar and do hands free ones if your bar position is right. Maybe you've got the bar sitting funky causing an extra stretch to get to it. Should be a good way to check that off the list if you can.
Wish I had more suggestions but in all honesty I hate front squats and will make any excuse not to do them. Good luck.0 -
Very probably my first day lifting since 9/8. Backed off on weight levels a bit, but started again. Abs, triceps, bicep curls, lat pulls, flys, back extensions, and trunk rotations. All Cybex machines.0

I will start lifting Friday night with my instructor motivating me. Looking forward to seeing the changes.0

Lifted yesterday. Started a beginner's full body workout a week ago. Starting super light to get correct form down and avoid injury. Thanks for the motivation!0

Did you start lifting on Friday? What type of program are you on?0 -
Kettlebell work on Tuesday. Then a heavy upper body routine on Friday. That works for me.0
