I'm 29weeks tomorrow and have put on 11lbs. Hoping over the last 10weeks can keep weight gain to a minimum. Trying very hard not to heat any cakes/biscuits/chocolate/crisps etc and instead having snacks of pumpkin seeds, fruit with soya yoghurt, carrot sticks with humus and avocado and oatcakes. Breakfast is always eggs -boiled/scrambled/omelette and trying to fit in some exercise x

Wow thats awesome! I hope to keep my gain to a minimum, especially since I didn't lose all the pregnancy weight from my 15month old (this.baby was a welcomed surprise) I'm just 5weeks, haven't gained real weigh yet. I lost 2lbs in the beginning, but I put those back on fast and nothing since.

    Pre pregnancy weight: 66kg

    Cumulative total
    Week 1-11: +0.8kg
    Week 12: +1.8kg
    Week 13: +1.6kg
    Week 14: +2.2kg
    Week 15: +2.9kg
    Week 16: +3.3kg
    Week 17: +3.5kg
    Week 18: +4.6kg
    Week 19: +3.9kg
    Week 20: +5.7kg
Week 21: +6.6kg - ok so the last couple weeks i've jumped quite a bit. Hopeful this is just a bit of a growth spurt.
    Week 22: +6.3kg
    Week 25: +10.2kg (3.9kg (8.6lb) gain in 3 weeks)

Went on holiday to Raro and the portions there were HUGE. I do not recommend eating out for every meal in another country with supposed dodgy food while trying to stay healthy...but on the other hand it was a holiday and now I am back to my normal eating habits so I will put it behind me.

    HIBA,

I think you're doing great and on track for normal pregnancy gains! I recommend reading the article at the link below for a little perspective.

    www.cnn.com/2013/11/20/living/pregnant-dieting-pregorexia-moms/

Basically, this mom gained 32lbs during her first pregnancy - which she deemed excessive. So in her subsequent pregnancy she restricted and exercised, gaining only 18lbs. She had intrauterine growth restriction and her daughter was born with seizures.

Thank you for this! It's a very enlightening story.
I have gained 55 lbs in my first pregnancy, it was crazy and needed a long time and a lot of effort to come off.
This time around, I am trying to do it the right way. I hope I can keep it up :)

    25 Weeks: 132.8 (+1.8)
    26 Weeks: 131 (-1.8)

I guess last week the scale was just kidding? Weight fluctuations sure are interesting during pregnancy :) I feel okay with the track I am on as long as it isn't always 2 pounds a week as that can add up pretty fast and I still have a little while to go!

Today is the glucose test finally :drinker: . I know diabetes runs in my family but I am not too worried. My health has always checked out fine which I contribute to finally living an active healthy lifestyle. I am determined not to have any complications I can easily prevent by just taking care of myself in life.

In the home stretch. My first was already here at this point. I am not necessarily ready to have two, but I am so done with work!!! I am backing up someone who is out of the office this week and am secretly hoping I go before she comes back just so I don't have to do her work load. She gave me shotty notes and I'm stressing over her stuff and I am completely finished with all my work for my back ups. I am looking forward to taking leave and not coming back until September!!! All in due time! My MW will let me go over 2 weeks so still have plenty of time.

l0velife1 - You are doing great. I had weeks like that too. I had GD my first pregnancy and it was manageable by diet and exercise so I think you can totally do that. If you need insulin or medication, it is temporary and try not to stress about it.

Haha, I do the same thing and weigh myself naked in the morning after peeing! Unfortunately my scale isn't any nicer than the doctor's scale... I am 20 weeks along and have gained 15 lbs! I've been eating the right amount of calories and working out a few times a week, so I don't feel bad about it, but really REALLY want to stay in the 25-35 lb range. Only half way, and baby only weighs about 10 oz now so I hope weight gain slows down!! Not sure what to do differently.

I am beginning to learn that everyone's body is different in the amount of weight it puts on. My friend is a small girl and even without eating much she put on 90 pounds during her pregnancy. Pretty much all but 10 or so of it came off fairly quickly after birth. Now for others, 90 would be detrimental for their bodies. I wouldn't worry about the weight so much as staying active and eating healthy. If you know you are doing that then you should be good! Some people with lose in certain trimesters and some will gain. It's kind of crazy how our bodies can all be so different :)

Saw my OB yesterday. She asked if I was sick because I was still losing weight... I told her I really wasn't, but I was eating healthy and not eating the junk that I used to. She's not concerned about it. She said the baby is totally fine and getting what it needs, and as long as I'm eating healthy everything is great. She said that she's not one of those who is majorly concerned with weight gain/loss unless it starts to affect health. And right now, I'm healthy as a horse! (and so is baby)

Ah there is that pesky 2 pounds again! Finally about to hit the 3rd and final trimester next week and I am getting the not so fun symptoms of pregnancy like back pain and swollen feet. I am sad not wearing my favorite high heels to work

Glucose test turned back great except my iron which was pretty low. I understand it is pretty common so I am not worried, just taking those lovely iron pills. Maybe that is why I have been having a lot of trouble concentrating the past few weeks though :grumble:

    Starting weight: 156 lbs

Week 13: 160.2 lbs (+4.2 lbs) right on track
Doctor told me whatever I am doing keep doing it cause I am right on track was told not to gain more than 20 pounds for the whole pregnancy which seems so hard but I am going to do my darndest to stay in the 20 -25 pound total range.
Was told at the 20 week mark I should not have gained more than 8 pounds Total!

First trimester ate at maintenance calories + exercise calories back, walked everyday 20 -30 minutes plus cardio minimum 3 times week 30 -60 minutes

Moving into second trimester I will only be upping my calories by average 200 more calories a day (Sometimes eat over, sometimes under depends how my hunger is not trying to force anything) plus keep exercising now that I have more energy and eating back most of my exercise calories.
I know I can do this!

Feeling very motivated and was sooo excited to see ultrasoud today since looks like a "baby" now instead of a lil nugget!

@Sunflower: Did your doctor say why he wants your weight gain limited to 20lbs? My doctor limited me to 20lbs too but I weigh an awful lot more than you do! At 156, you aren't obese and not really overweight either. I would be positively thrilled to only weigh that much!

@ tiggerhammon : I am 31 years old and only 5' 3" a "shortie" and at my starting weight 156 lbs so that is in the overweight category for my BMI (28) so that is why the doctor said 20 pounds is the acceptable range for my height and weight.

I've been following this for a while now to see how my gains are going compared to others. I think I might join in to help keep myself accountable. If heaps of other people can see my progress I'll be less likely to succumb to eating crap and not moving. I've been trying to eat healthily, still tracking my food, trying to exercise most days. My pre preg weight was 82kg I'm 170cm tall. My midwife gave me a gain limit of 7-11.5kg.

I'm currently nearly 15weeks and have put on 1kg.

I really need to better study how to convert these numbers. It always fumbles my mind when people post kgs.
...So,you started at approx 180lbs and approx 5.5ft tall and have gained approx 2.2lbs.
... You are doing really good!

Started at 163 pounds imm about 5'7 32 wks and I'm 206 pounds grumble: my midwife only told me to get to 189 pounds the BMI had something to do with that now that was my due date weight:noway:

first pregnancy I put on 44 pounds so I think I may be on track, ill properly go over a few pounds but I feel that's the average for me when pregnant, pity I have no controll over it even with calorie counting 2500 under cal a day and then exercise 4x a wk 30 - 45 min a day at most. It's so silly to put a number to pregnancy weight gain it makes people like me sad and frustrated that I've done something wrong cos I've already gained the recommended weight..

I agree! My doctor told me not to gain more than 20. I am only up 14 now, but 12 of that was in one month. My doctor starting telling me I was gaining weight too fast and I wanted to tell him off, lol.
