Started at 163 pounds imm about 5'7 32 wks and I'm 206 pounds grumble: my midwife only told me to get to 189 pounds the BMI had something to do with that now that was my due date weight:noway:
first pregnancy I put on 44 pounds so I think I may be on track, ill properly go over a few pounds but I feel that's the average for me when pregnant, pity I have no controll over it even with calorie counting 2500 under cal a day and then exercise 4x a wk 30 - 45 min a day at most. It's so silly to put a number to pregnancy weight gain it makes people like me sad and frustrated that I've done something wrong cos I've already gained the recommended weight..
I agree, too. There are so many factors. I'd rather gain more while being active and eating full fat, whole foods than eating less healthy, but low cal or "sugar free", etc. Strangely enough, I've come to peace with this pregnancy. I haven't even weighed myself in several weeks b/c I don't care! lol I'm going to assume I'll gain 45lbs b/c i did with my past two pregnancies, which were completely different pregnancies! I was stressed out and always beating myself up last time and its just not worth it! As long as I lose it within a year, its all good! Now is the time to grow! And thats another thing. While I agree one shouldn't just eat whatever they want and and gain a super ton b/c they are eating unhealthy foods, I don't understand the whole dieting while pregnant thing and coming in below cals all the time. Especially with exercise! I don't look at anyone else's diaries anymore b/c I don't get how eating 1600-1800 calories is healthy when your pregnant, exercising, and your target calories are over 2000! But its really not my business, so like I said, I don't bother looking anymore! lol (And these are people with healthy bmi's).0 -
Well, today's doc appt weigh in says I am now up 18lbs. So, staying in the doc's range of 20lbs is out now too.
I have exactly 1 month left as of today and I am sure I will probably see another 6lbs or so before the end.0 -

I've been following this for a while now to see how my gains are going compared to others. I think I might join in to help keep myself accountable. If heaps of other people can see my progress I'll be less likely to succumb to eating crap and not moving. I've been trying to eat healthily, still tracking my food, trying to exercise most days. My pre preg weight was 82kg I'm 170cm tall. My midwife gave me a gain limit of 7-11.5kg.
I'm currently nearly 15weeks and have put on 1kg.
This is definitely my reason for starting! Though there are still some days I don't care and end up shoveling way too much food into this endless pit of a stomach I have going on now. Good luck!0 -

My first gain. Although I've been sitting around the same weight for almost 2 weeks now, so I was expecting it soon... especially since this week I seem to have developed a taste for chocolate ice cream! :blushing: I don't eat much, but I know ice cream affects me quicker than other sweet items. The odd thing is that I am not normally a chocolate person! Must be the baby's preference! :laugh:
Other than the occasional ice cream, still trying to eat fairly healthy... which is hard considering most of my life, I've struggled with my weight and eating habits. Babies are good for that, eh?0 -
Starting weight was about 113lbs. 5'4 height. Small frame, and very active. I wanted to try and not go overboard on the weight gain. At my 24 week checkup I weighed in about 123.5. My doctor was happy with my weight gain and exercise routine. Hoping I don't blow up during my third trimester, since my activity level will probably begin tapering off.0

Don't you love how our goals and limits change? My goal was no more than 15lb gain (I was obese prepregnancy and every scale and chart told me this should be the goal.) When I hit 12lbs I decided to stick with the 'no more than 20lbs' advice that my doctor gave me. Now that I am at 18 and starting to gain faster and get a little water retention I am thinking even a goal of 'under 25' may be unrealistic. My husband says I need to just decide on no more than 35 so I stop disappointing myself. *sigh* At least I know I have the power to take it back off again!0 -

I am doing bi-weekly appointments so I will know tomorrow, 30 weeks, where I'm at.
What are your ladies cal/carb in take? I know we are all different but I'm curious if I am eating enough??? I tend to eat higher protein as that was my pre-pregnant way of eating. My doctor doesn't seemed concerned about my weight but at my last appointment, since I haven't gained since mar 28th, which would put me at 22 weeks since i last gained (I think LOL), she did tell me to splurge a little more...
I have been at 164 LBS since March 28th is what I am trying to say. I gained most of my LBS in the beginning due to eating more carbs because of nausea.
I am not trying to diet but find balance.
I do workout... if you want to call it that I do a treadmill speed/incline 60 minute workout. I wear a HR monitor and burn 300-400 cals, 4x/week.0 -
I just had an appointment on Monday so I have a current weight, finally. I stopped using my scale at home when it told me I was 3.5 lbs. below what my doctor's office had me. So here are some stats:
1st pregnancy
Height: 5'6
Pre-pregnancy goal weight: 120
At home scale: reading 120 - 121 in February (unknowingly pregnant) but I don't know how much I trust that compared to those in the doctors' offices.
March 26 - 8 weeks, 2 days: appointment with primary doctor to confirm pregnancy, weight = 123.0
May 19 - 16 weeks: 2 trimester routine appointment, weight = 124.7
I asked my midwife if my weight gain was too low and she said it was fine as along as I'm eating regularly. I've been "afraid" to workout too hard as I already find it difficult to eat the extra calories on top of my maintenance. As of right now, with my energy returning to "normal" levels, I'm at least lifting 2-3 times a week with light walks here and there.0 -

Scales at home will always be different then those at the doctors office, especially since you are weighing yourself in different circumstances most likely (time of day, clothing on/off). I wouldn't worry so much about your weight gain, it seems to be going good! It will pick up, trust me. I started gaining majorly fast around 22 weeks and now at 28 weeks I am settling back down a bit. As of this point your baby is still really tiny and not needing a whole lot of extra calories on top of maintenance. Just eat when you are hungry and you should be fine0 -

I also quit smoking, dieting, caffeine and diet supplements (thermogenics) so this is mostly rebound weight from making those adjustments.

I just joined MFP after freaking out at my weight gain so far. I'm Aussie, but I'll put everything in lbs where I can as it seems that's what most of you go by in your countries. Started MFP at 22w after seeing how much I was gaining.
Also, with my OB's blessing, I'm trying to stick to around 7000kJ (1673cal) a day.

Another gain this week. I'm not entirely happy about it, but it was bound to happen sooner or later. I knew it would once I hit around 18 weeks. Haven't eaten the best over the last 2 weeks, either. Too much ice cream! I'm trying to get my calories a little higher with healthier foods.
Right now, my average day is anywhere from 1500-1800 calories. My OB is fine with it as long as I'm eating when I'm hungry, and eating healthy... since I'm considered obese by the BMI charts (I'm just barely over the line), minimal weight gain is the goal for me. I'm almost at the half way point. I'm hoping to only gain 10-15 lbs from where I am right now by the time I give birth. We'll see... definitely need to start exercising more!0 -

37wks+1 and I have gained 21lbs.
The weight has been seriously piling on this past 3 weeks! Everyone says "oh it must be water weight because there is no way you can gain 3lbs a week consistently, it isn't possible." Well, I have been gaining 2-3lbs a week for 3 weeks in a row now!
I had a small handful of bad food days but for the most part, I eat fruits, veggies, whole grains and other good foods and I don't really eat a lot.
I stopped logging a long time ago but I am tempted now to start again, maybe I am eating more than I think? (I still think it is completely impossible to eat an excess of 10,500 calories a week.) Or maybe it is just fluid retention? (Now, only one pair of shoes fits me - stupid water retention!)
I keep up at this rate, I will hit 30lbs before he gets here.0 -

I really doubt you are eating that many excess calories! I say just enjoy the end of the pregnancy and start counting if you want after you deliver. I hit a few weeks around 23 weeks pregnant that I kept gaining 2.5-3 pounds for a few weeks but since then it stopped. I was fearing that if it kept on doing that I would gain a million pounds by the end! Our bodies do what they must during pregnancy, hehe. Just eat healthy and do the best you can but try not to add any extra stress into your life especially now .0 -

Managed to rein in the weight gain but I'm now in the recommended total gain range for full term based on my starting BMI (11-15kg) and still have the 3rd tri to go.... If I try keep it to near 15kg I'll be ok with that but figure I'd rather be over and happy than start stressing about weight gain and potentially do harm to baby by not eating enough. I might just be one of those people that gains a lot. Will wait and see. My midwife isn't concerned as I don't have GD, BP is good and bump is measuring right on track.0 -
