HKristine, Wanderan and anyone else moving house, you have my sympathies. I just finished moving and it was no fun! Now I'm trying to get back on track with my marathon training which has been neglected. Got in 10 miles yesterday, woo hoo!

Dave, I hope you are having fun and the weather is holding up for you.

    Catching up
Switched back to "non-fitbit" distance count. It is a personal choice, but I want to "feel" every mile I do. Last month I would just look at my fitbit at the end of the day and say "oh wow - I did 6.4 miles - Neat, I will take it". When I switched back I actually "docked" myself many miles.

I set a goal of 124 and it is going to be a slog to get there, but I am up for it.

August 7th -.3 miles walking (Sounds pitiful, but it is real life)
August 8th - 6.09 miles walking at 4.0 mph ( an NSV) + 2.05 on bike (had to pump the tires) + 1.31 additional evening walk
August 9th - incline treadmill day 3.3 miles total

    Total for month 31.4

Beautiful sunny summer day with a little breeze in western Michigan. We are getting ready for a "round" birthday of DH tomorrow, with 40 friends in our yard. So the good weather is really a necessity! Got a few additional plants into the ground today and have been dragging the hoses around the grassy areas. All should look green and flowery for the party.

Rode the exercise bike and walked the meadow for my official exercise, gaining 6.38 miles.

August total so far = 34.27.

Almost didn't make it outside to walk. It's been pouring all day and I really didn't want to go to the gym (hate the treadmill and not fond of crowds). Finally made it outside for a 3.3 mile walk. And I got a clean downstairs in the waiting period.

Frustrated today. Rode my hill course on my bike, but the wind was head winds 16-20 mph on my uphills. it was hitting me so hard, I could have walked up faster than I was riding. Got into that situation where I thought I was going to stall going up and falling over again. Handled it totally smart. Started shifting gears as fast as I dared, to keep my cadence up. Saved my butt and stayed up! Thats what caused my problems in my half century ride last month. I would be in the wrong gear on a climb, stall out and had problems unclipping from my pedals, hence down I would go. I am finally able to use my gears on hill climbs and am grateful for clip in pedals, which help a lot during climbs. I will feel much more safer and more confident on the Mt Saint Helens climbs.

    08/08 - 7.50 miles biking

    Total: 73.5 miles

I added 15.5 on the bike today, TONS of time on my feet painting, and am about to start loading the moving truck (taking a quick break now)... only counting the 15.5 even though I feel like I've done 155

Nice job. I typically will run 90 - 100 rpm once I get warmed up but I still slow down to 75 - 85 rpm on the steep uphills. You are doing really well and I think you will do well on Mt. St. Helens.

Fingers crossed, I think I found a place...ok so I fell in love with it..so already decorating it in my mind and mapping out my run/walk/hike/bike trails. If only there was a way to log those miles from my head..lol. So now the hurry up and wait game begins til the subjects clear and what not.
Did manage a 14.91 mile bike ride today, supplemented 6.19 walking miles

My sympathies to everyone moving or should I say "relocating" to a new home- that is one type of moving that I still loathe!
To all who are traveling/vacationing- Have great fun and I agree with someone else who asked for pictures. My husband and I haven't had a true vacation together in over 10 years and I have to live vicariously though others who go on road trips/vacations:smile:

Our dog was severely abused as a puppy and he absolutely adores us as his rescuers, but he would be too traumatized to be away from us over night and would seriously bite (more like "maul" anyone who came to feed him or let him out of the house)- we've tried everything short of Cesar the dog whisperer for years- but He's 12 now and very set in his ways. We are saving up for lots of trips after he is no longer with us, though - not that I'm trying to rush the inevitable - I would be ok if he lived to be 100- I LOVE my dog
