    I have a question for those of you that use heart rate monitors. I used the Polar FT4 today while I did Leslie Sansone's 5 Miles Fat Burning Walk and it says I burned 549 calories! That seems a bit high. But I know her site says you can burn about 100 calories per mile. I just can't believe it. Has anyone else used a heart rate monitor with her workouts? How many calories did you burn?


    I don't own a heart rate monitor but I have always heard Polar are the best. When you are doing less strenuous workouts, does the number seem appropriate? It may very well be right on target. That's a great burn. :D

    I completed the American Heart Assoc. 3 mile walk this afternoon. Met my goal!

    I will set a second goal of another 10 miles and go from there. I will be taking care of two grandsons over the holidays and this where I may not be able to get as many miles in. Fingers crossed. I am gonna need it. LOL

    Just checking in..... the weather has been so nice and we don't have very much snow here in Saskatchewan so I have walked outside whenever I can. We are also renovating our basement so my TV & DVD player and Leslie DVD's are under plastic....

    December goal - 100 miles
    - so far 56.8 miles...

    Good Morning Walkers. I did the 5 Mega Miles and pushed myself to do 1 more mile. 6 Miles this morning. Woot. I am baking my Christmas cookies today and feared I might be tempted so I told myself if I walked 1 more mile I deserved 2 cookies. YUM! I made my second goal while I was at it. Another Woot!

  • This morning's workout brings me up to 46.5/50. I am thinking I'll up my goal for January. I'm enjoying seeing everyone's progress - keep walking!

    LOL. yep the warning came in while I was already partying :p I often don't have many outside invites, but this year I made up for it :) . I have not been tempted by any of the Christmas cookies that have been around (yet), but the candy is a whole 'nother thing :o . And I didn't make it any easier because I also made candy to gift others with. This year's offering was a new recipe that I took the chance on and it turned out very yummy. Are you wondering how I know B) . I am so happy that all is packaged up and given away now :)

    It has been a busy week and 1/2 since I "walked". But I have done a lot of shopping-walking. More walking than shopping b/c I had a hard time this year figuring out things. And trips to the post office. Oh, that didn't count as I have to drive to get there :laugh: Anyway, I am back again o:) .

    Monday: (12.22) 3 Mega Miles (using wrist weights and the firm band.)

    3 DVD miles.

    0 outdoor minutes.

    0 mini walks from Walk Blaster DVD.

    0 minutes "other" kinds of exercise.

    My goal for December, a very busy month: I will walk a minimum of 2 DVD 'miles' or 30+ minutes of exercise at least 5 days a week.

    So far: 7 Leslie/ or other walking DVD miles

    So far: 85 outdoor minutes (in the neighborhood or in a park)

    So far: 4 mini walks from Walk Blasters DVD

    So far: 30 minutes "other" kinds of exercise

    I've renewed my commitment to my exercise goal again.

    You all kept rocking those walks!! I am proud of everyone :flowerforyou:

    This where things are going to get get hard for me to make another goal. I have upped the goal twice this month and from here on out any miles walked will be a bonus. I have gotten up the past two days at 4 am to get my miles in and I am exhausted. I am having a wonderful time with my grandsons but with preparing for Christmas and taking care of them and the house...I am beat.

    Haha Alex. It's been chocolate this and cookie that since Thanksgiving. Christmas day I intend to eat whatever I want and pay the piper later.
