I've never actually done Karen. I've done Karabel though. You can probably guess what that is - Karen and Isabel merged. 10 rounds for time of 3 snatches and 15 wall balls.

^That's awful. Karen is bad enough on her own. Deceptively so too IMO. I'm pretty decent with wall balls and banged off the first set of 25 easy enough. Right around 75 is where I was like "damn it I'm only half done"

:s Doing it in 7s (and being slow as usual) stopped that in some ways - I was ok till I got to about 115.

Yikes, Karen is one of the few girls i can do, but would skip that day...lol I am so bad at anything with wallballs and thrusters it would take me days. We had a 75 wallball and 800M run buy in one night. And all the people running were in before i even finished the wallballs. fortunately i was proficient in the amrap part so i caught up, but talk about ego blow!

My worst wall ball WOD was called a 'Ham Sandwich'

    For time:

    50 wall balls
    25 deadlifts
    50 wall balls

EMOM 5 burpees until all reps are completed.

    ^ Destroyed me.

Karen is my nightmare WOD! I used to really like doing WB's and now I get anxious when I see them in a WOD. I liked it when I did it early on with a 10# ball and now doing it RX, I hate it. If your technique was good, thats a HUGE accomplishment.

At the competition on Sunday the wall balls were actually against a wall. Threw our athletes out completely :( we are used to doing them against a target on the rig. Amazing how much difference that solid wall in your face makes

I might move to the target instead of the wall, It might make me more consistent on the throw and catch. With the wall, I find myself having to shift my feet to get in position to catch it.
  • Hero WOD "Collin"

    6 rounds
Carry 50 pound sandbag 400 meters run
    12 Push press (115/75)
    12 Box jumps (24/20)
    12 Sumo Dead lift high-pull (95/65)

Navy Special Warfare Operator Chief Collin Trent Thomas, 33, of Morehead, Kentucky, assigned to a Navy SEAL team based out of Little Creek, Virginia, was fatally shot on August 18, 2010, during combat operations in Eastern Afghanistan. He is survived by his fiancé Sarah Saunders, his parents Clay and Jean Thomas, and his sister Meghan Edwards.

By round 4 I wanted to vomit...but managed to finish it scaled in 28:32

    Push Jerk 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2, 2

Maxed out at 80lbs mostly because i could not get heavier weights into a good front rack to push, became too heavier just holding in my arms

Yesterday we did clean and jerk for a 1RM. I still feel more comfortable with a push jerk than a split so I'm sticking with that for now.

Got up to 195 (a PR) and stopped there to save some for Grace, which we did next.

4:12 RX. Not even near my fastest time. Usually I can get a good rhythm going (clean, bounce, jerk, drop, repeat) and I just could not get the timing of it down today.

Turned up yesterday and the box was empty!
So I worked on my oly instead and got PBs:
    Clean and jerk - 37.5kg
    Deadlift - 75kg
Not as much as most on here yet, but Im pretty chuffed with myself! B)

Good self discipline. Many folks would have skipped.

Back again today and it was packed. Warm up was rowing, Junkyard dog and v planks on front and back.
WOD was 3 clean and jerk, 3 knee to chest, then 6, 9, 12 etc ... 7 min AMRAP.
Need to get some gloves for that pull up bar...
  • EMOM

    10 minutes
Each minute: 10 situps and as many DUs as possible (I am still doing toe taps on a 45# plate)
    No break
    10 minutes
Each minute: 5 pullups and as many squats as possible

    I did 465 reps (DUs + squats)

What is the "toe taps”? A scale for Double Unders?

Scale for jump rope I believe. jumping onto and off of a 45 lb plate. I've done comps where we did burpees that way. When you come up you jump onto the plate and off.

Ok, so basically requiring you to jump a little higher each time, which is how one coach was showing me how to do DUs. Thanks!

I might need to start another DU threads. I need to scrap what I'm doing and start from scratch. I can do one at a time, I can sometimes string 2 together but that's it.

i'm with you. before I started crossfit (in Dec), I couldn't even do singles. I can now do singles and am working on DU. I can get one and then I think I'm stunned that I did it and mess it all up.

I started from nothing and can just string together 8 singles now. Whole new skill (one of many!)

Today's WOD is already messing with me and I don't WOD for another 7 hours!

    Strength:
Complete 7 sets of the following:
    1 Thruster + 1 Push Press + 1 Push Jerk + 1 Split Jerk

    For Time:
    50 S2OH 155/105
*Every time you drop the bar, complete 7 Chest to Bar pull ups

I think my strategy will be sets of 10, OH work is my goat.

If I make it out alive I will let you know :s

Heavy, but I’d really not want to drop that bar. Since I don’t have good wrist and shoulder mobility, I wouldn’t be able to rest it on my front delts efficiently, I’d probably rest it on my back. I might even try to shake out my arms one at a time with the bar on my back.

I ended up not rx'ing as the coach was firm on a 12 minute time cap. I did 95 and it took me 12:58. I was getting the side eye from the coach all throughout that 58 seconds :p I started with 10 reps and ended with 10 because I was not going back to that rig! but during the middle it was 5's because I did not want to push myself to failure and then be stuck doing 2's or 3's when I got back to the bar. I don't know if it was a good strategy or not, but it's what happened!
