Total 9.12 miles for today
27 miles done and 73 miles to go....
OK today I decided to give one legged biking a try. I clipped into one pedal and didn't use the other leg. I about killed myself. Even with gears I thought my leg would fall off after less than a mile,. I don't know how you do it, but I applaud your effort!

Now on to business, got a great ride in today. I also signed up for the 1/2 century cancer bike ride in Central Oregon next month. As a cancer survivor this one is extremely important to me. Some of you might remember last year that after 3 crashes in the first 7 miles (MTB) that I made it to 36 miles and went DNF with injuries. Now I know I have a new road bike but am apprehensive about riding in this event. My son will be with me again, but........I am scared that I will DNF again. I live in the valley, this ride will be on the high desert elevation 3800 feet. Elevation gain of over 2400 feet, not sure how to train for it. I will go, and suck it up and ride, I just hope I can get comfortable and enjoy the ride.

I feel MUCH better today. Unfortunately, work meant I didn't have as much moving time available. Added 2 miles today for a June total of 17.75 miles.
@hkristine1 Thank you so much for your concern. Most of my headaches can be traced directly to a very tight muscle in the back of my neck. I did have a chiropractor appointment yesterday and he confirmed that my neck was involved in this one too. With his help and some ibuprofen for the pain and inflammation, it has loosened up for now. If it had not started to improve today or it started getting worse, I would have needed to look for more medical help today. Thankfully, I am much better for now.0 -

Now, I know nothing about cycling, despite my one cycling class yesterday, but isn't it better to DNF than not try at all? Or maybe you'll actually complete it this time?? You always blow the miles away here, so I have no doubt you have a good shot at going all the way this time.

Forget about last year and enjoy this ride! As far as training, you should be building up to longer rides each week going forward, with little riding the last 4 days or so before the ride. I would throw in some hill repeats a few times to help make the climbing less painful (notice I didn't say easier!) Honestly though, the only thing that makes hills easier is riding more hills. HAVE FUN!!!0 -
