I read an article that said most of us choose from just 25 foods on a daily basis..which seems funny as many people who go on a diet' expect to "cut out" lots of foods …yet we are eating the same things over and over anyway.
What is your list of the MAIN 25 foods you eat? List every food separately, or group veggies/fruits.
I group ALL veggies under Veggies- there are 15-30 'foods' rirght there
FRUIT- same here I eat only berries: blueberries-raspberries-strawbnerries, wild blackberries & other local berries, mulberries..oh, and cherries from my tree in summer
My top 25 foods….
1. Coffee
2. Heavy cream
3. Butter
4. Coconut oil-for cooking
5. MCT oil
6.Plain cocoa
7.Almond milk-unsweet (or coconut, hemp, flaxseed milk)
8. eggs
9. Canned coconut milk
10. Cheese-Mexican soft cheese, cream cheese, string cheese, shredded cheese
11. hemp seed -both hulled and as protein powder
12. pumpkin seeds-mostly a snack, high in magnesium
13. chia seeds
14. Veggies- Broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower, celery, chard, cukes, garlic, kale, lettuces, onion, pumpkin, spinach, tomato, zucchini*
15. Fruit- berries & avacado, cherries
16. bone broth-made from chicken bones
17. coconut flour- and shredded coconut
18. almond flour-coconut flour
19. NUTS- almonds, macadamia, Brazil, walnuts- also raw ground nut butters
20. Mayonaise
21. Vinegar-blasamic or apple cider, rice vinegar
22. Stevia-eriythrol
23. Spices- salt, pepper, guar gum, popcorn cheese sprinkles
24. Bulgarian full fat yogurt
25. pork rinds
26. popcorn- on occasion…so OK I DO have more than 25 foods!
27. Fiber One carmel nut protein bar… had too many boxes at the start…and the news is my blood sugar is now great <90 most of the time after being >109 all the time.
BUT after eating one, with 16 carbs, 7 sugar I see a 154 BG reading… I think this is still normal, not pre diabetic.

That's why the "but variety!" argument always cracks me up (especially when the subject at hand is Paleo). Most people don't have a lot of variety in their diets to begin with (especially when you consider that most bread and pasta based dishes are only "different" because the bread or pasta is shaped differently). If they really want to see variety, they should spend a week with a tropical hunter/gatherer tribe. Most of their variety knocks the socks off even the best Westerner.
Even so, my current diet is still fairly limited, which I'm okay with. My first thought about the "25 foods" was that that was a lot. Here's my list:
 1. Ground bison
 2. Cut bison (steaks, etc)
 3. Cut beef
 4. Ground beef
 5. Cut pork (pork chops, etc)
 6. Sausage
 7. Bacon
 8. Cut chicken
 9. Cream
 10. Espresso
 11. Butter
 12. Cheese
 13. Eggs
 14. Tea
 15. Spices
 16. Bone broth
16 items, being generous... And that goes down to 12 if I consolidate the cut vs ground stuff (I separated them to intentionally try to reach 25, knowing going in that I wouldn't, and because ground vs cut is different enough to me to warrant a different entry). Even with 12 different items, though, I'm looking at a few thousand different combinations if I wanted.
Yeah...my kitchen would be pretty empty if it were just me...0

Interesting. I agree we usually eat the same foods. But when you cook for yourself there's a lot of ways you can put these together! I use Pinterest and make a seasonal "menu" four times a year to switch it up a bit. Then I take my phone and shop from that board. I'm jesstroberts there if anyone wants to follow me or share boards! I did a ketogenic Whole30 using only 10 foods: http://forum.whole9life.com/topic/26685-w30-project-x/
The idea was if you were on an island and could only have 10 foods (plus spices) what would they be?
 Beef
Chicken & eggs (I feel it's within the spirit of the game to include these as one item)
 Salmon
 Coconut
 Olive
 Avocado
 Cauliflower
 Broccoli
 Cucumber
 Coffee0

            Let's see- Ground Beef
- Chuck Roll (Beef)
- Other cuts of beef
- lamb
- chicken wings
- cheese / other dairy (although trying to remove)
- coffee

That's pretty much it. And, really, most days it's just ground beef, a steak, and coffee. I would say 9 days out of 10 are just those three things. My idea of variety is when I get some lamb, chicken wings, or maybe add some dairy.0

Yesterday at the HFS I bought a fresh bar of plain 100% dark cocoa unsweet..the cashier guy handed it to me to carry…I looked at him and said you've NEVER eaten this right? you DON'T want to eat this…it's not candy.
also NONE of you noticed I eat no meat….when I had to go to the ER for a bad flu incident in May the male nurse also bragged he eats LCHF and started talking about it…then he said " Hey, HOW can you do LC and not eat MEAT???" he was shocked.. "Easy I said…tons of fat, and lots of veggies"…. and it is true. I switched for health reasons, but it's been seamless. Somehow it never seemed odd to me..if we have 40K stored fat calories, then letting those burn up by just not eating carbs, works.
Put butter on anything and it is easily consumable!0

It could also be argued that eggs are meat, depending on how strict your definition is.0
