Is there any kind of July challenge in the works?

Might try this. I often eat all my calories between 11am and 8pm which I find really works for me for hunger and not eating too much. My July challenge is to do this on more days than not.0

I'll pin that thread for you.0

I'm in ! If anyone want tips I can write some in the challenge thread. And maybe other vets can chime in too with their tips as well
I've posted it before, but I'll repeat it again that Jason Fung's video on fasting as a method to lower glucose levels and therefore reduce insulin resistance ...is what sold me on going lowcarb. And for what it's worth being N =1, it HAS worked for me to a certain degree.
Fasting is not just a weight loss tool, it can also be a part of slowly healing how body functions, if doing it for autophagy.

But most of all 5:2 is still my plateau buster!0 -

Thank you for all the info @glossbones. I need some more research, I am a bit concerned about what it would do to my blood sugars in the morning, but this article looks promising. When I spend more than 6h fasting my blood sugars start going up. I'm not sure why, if anything they should go down... but no. I always wake up with higher BG than what I had before going to bed. Must be dreaming of carbs!

That is called the dawn phenomenon and it only happens overnight. It is based on hormonal changes taking place in your body as it prepares for waking. It is a common phenomenon in diabetics. However, fasting during the day does not have the same effect. My blood sugars drop. I can go to bed with a BG under 100 and wake up with it being in the 120s. I try not to let it worry me anymore.0 -
I am going to join this joyous July challenge. 18:6 bulletproof style. May be more like a 20:4 as things progress we shall see. I go on my beach vacation in 31 days with my family. Time to whip myself into a better shape. Stats in the a.m. Let's do this!!!!!!0

I'm excited to do this challenge!!!
Will weigh myself tonight as I forgot to this morning before I check in.
Good luck everybody!0 -
Should we add a caveat for new low carbers? I don't think I could have even contemplated fasting until minimum 6-8 weeks into this WOE or I would have died. I think newbies need to know it's not a failure to not be up to it yet! It was a LONG time before I could confidently skip a meal but these days it's totally easy.0

I started this morning.
STARTING STATS:
129 pounds
27.7% Body Fat
31.1% Muscle
Today turned into a 20:4 Bulletproof fast. I just had my BPC coffee with 1 tbsp Kerrygold butter & 1 tbsp MCT oil at 10am and a large coffee with 2 tbsp HWC at 11am. I hope the HWC didnt end my fast?

Have you all come over and checked in on the challenge post? Its up above on the main low carbers page here.0

Yup, just a reminder that we are starting over at:
http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10199514/jentacular-juramentum-july-if-challenge-check-in
(For whatever reason, once a post is "Pinned" to the front page, it no longer appears in the list of "All" Discussions!)
I consider HWC to be "kosher" for a BPC on a fast. It does have carbs, but in a reasonable amount to put in coffee, I consider them "trace carbs."
If you are the type to add 4 tbs or more of HWC to your coffee, try increasing the kerrygold/butter to make up for the lack of creaminess that less cream provides.0
