I had all sorts of crazy fluctuation first trimester, but today I'm 14 weeks and have gained 4lbson the nose--started at 147.0 back when I got my positive test January 31st and was 151.0 this morning.

Considering how much bigger my boobs and belly are I feel awesome about my gain, and since I've actually worked out really consistently from week 8 on (before I was way too sick!) I think my legs and arms look even more toned than before. My last two pregnancies I sat on my butt and binged on brownies all 40 weeks long so this is such a wonderfully different experience lol

I think I need to take a break from daily weigh ins - despite eating really well and exercising I'm up 17lbs at 23 weeks. I was crying this morning and my doctor said I need to relax and give myself a break because I'm on track. I'm going to try and only weigh in at my appointments.

I'm jealous of all of you ladies who have barely gained any weight!

I've been gaining 1.5-2 lbs a week. :((((( 24 weeks and 3 days and am up 23 lbs. This is getting depressing.

I have been the same gained an average of 1.3lbs per week until week 22. In all honesty I ate more then i should have and my physical activity was reduced. tried to be more serious now. I reached 24weeks and no weight gain in 2 weeks I am happy. My Dr was not happy with the important weight gain. Hopefully she will be relieved at my next appointment

Since it's upsetting you yes you should take a break. If it makes you feel better I gained the most in my pregnancy in 2nd tri. At 24 weeks I'd gained 20 according to my doctor and ended up my last weigh in gaining 31 lbs total. (My scale says 35 lbs but whatever). I was super super hungry 2nd tri and gave into most of my cravings. My last 2 pregnancies I gained 7 & 8 lbs in 3rd tri. I was able to be more active (I wanted to walk that baby out!). (My 1st two pregnancies I gained 15&21 lbs in 3rd tri). Don't beat yourself up. Rest of your life to lose the baby weight. <3

@spunkychelsea Thank you! That does make me feel better. My doctor said she didn't think I would go over 35 and it was very common for women to gain more weight in the second trimester.

Lisa, don't fret! I gained a lot of weight in my first two pregnancies, but lost it really easily afterwards. At this stage (33 weeks) I had gained around 32 pounds already. I haven't really gained much at all this time around, but I think it is just because I was heavier to start with so my body realised there is no need to eat, eat, eat and put down fat reserves. In fact, the last couple of days I have had bad reflux and struggled to eat at all, only finished half of my dinner. Here is my weekly update:

    23 w: 1.1 Total: -1.6
    24 w: -2.0 Total: -3.6
    25 w: 1.3 Total: -2.3
    26 w: 0.2 Total: -2.1
    27 w: 1.8 Total: -0.3
    28 w: 1.8 Total: 1.5
    29 w: 0.7 Total: 2.1
    30 w: 0.7 Total: 2.8
    31 w: -0.2 Total: 2.6
    32 w: -0.2 Total: 2.3
    33 w: -0.9 Total: 1.5

I feel happy with that, even if I gain a pound a week until delivery, I will gain just under 10 pounds total (assuming 41 weeks again). That means that, after loosing the delivery weight and fluid balance etc. going back to normal, I may be able to get out of the obese and into the overweight only category shortly after baby arrives. That would be awesome.

Sarah, well done on all the toning! I have had to stop exercise for now since breaking my ribs. Looking forward to having a bit more energy and being able to breathe more easily.

    Not doing great...

    SW (pre-pregnancy) 161 @ the new year.

Dropped to 157 the week I found out I was pregnant @ end of Jan (was still eating at a deficit at the time).

Shot up to 167 by end of Feb and then got scared of the scale, and despite my better judgement I stopped not only weighing daily but I stopped weighing entirely.

Then comes today... a mere 2 months later... and I weighed in at 191!!

So, I'm up 30 lbs at 15.5 weeks. I am not liking where things are going...

I went through my logging here (I still log my intake meticulously) and have been eating on avg 2800 gross, and 2300 net. My 30 lb gain doesn't seem to square up with these figures, given I was losing weight eating upwards of 2000 calories.

My plan now is to face the music and weigh myself every morning and stop being a baby about the facts of my weight, and to reduce my intake to 2000 gross and see what happens. But this weight gain was not a good start to my pregnancy so I can't help but feel like the prospect of a conservative weight gain is looking kind of glum for me.

Sorry you're having a tough time! I've gained more than I would like too and I've been making an effort to get 15K steps a day and work out a few times a week, not sure if it's helping but it's making me feel better.

Well, I've been a bit sick and not hungry for the past few days so I didn't gain much this week but comes today and I am STARVING so I'm expecting a bigger gain next week. I'm right on track according to my doctor so it's all good. It's so strange because I'm exactly the same weight, at 24 weeks, as I was when I was pregnant with my son. I ended up gaining around 25 pounds with him.

    SW: 123 pounds
    Week 7: 124.2 (+1.2)
    Week 9: 125 (+2)
    Week 10: 125 (+2)
    Week 11: 125.4 (+2.4)
    Week 12: 126.4 (+3.4)
Week 13: 126.8 (+3.8 gained in the first trimester)

    Week 14: 127.8 (+4.8)
    Week 15: 129 (+6)
    Week 16: 128.8 (+5.8)
    Week 17: 129.8 (+6.8)
    Week 18: 131.6 (+8.6)
    Week 19: 133.6 (+10.6)
Week 20: 133.2 (+10.2, stomach bug the week before)
    Week 21: 134 (+11)
    Week 22: 135.2 (+12.2)
    Week 23: 137 (+14)
    Week 24: 137.2 (+14.2)

Thanks  , and yeah I have had a Fitbit since 2014 and still do 10-20k steps a day, it's definitely a good motivator and has been a good tool to get me active.

But I always used to largely ignore calorie adjustments or only eat a small fraction of them because they seemed very inflated (when compared with my actual results) and all the more so the more overweight and/or the more active I was.
But assuming Fitbit doesn't inflate by eating them back and then some was evidently a mistake and resulted in far too much surplus for me. I think I do best using Fitbit to motivate me to move for improving my fitness while ignoring its alleged burn.

However, I got my intake down to an average of 2000 gross this past week and quickly dropped 10 lbs, so I must have been retaining a lot of water, bloat, food weight, whatever.

So, my 30 lb gain is now a 20 lb net gain, which isn't ideal at almost 17 weeks but it's not as traumatizing as the 30 lb gain was for me last week, lol. Paying attention to my weight and reducing my intake has served me pretty well this week so hopefully I caught this problem early enough to gain control. We shall see...

@Lourdesong That's great!! 20lbs at 17 weeks isn't bad. I'm up 20lbs at 25 weeks, which is a bit too much so I'm sticking to under 2000 calories and hoping to maintain for the next 2 weeks or so to get me back on track.

I made it 26 weeks before gaining my first pound! I'm pretty pleased with that  I'm so glad I decided to track my calories and continue exercising throughout this pregnancy. I feel so much better this time around. When I was pregnant with my son, I was sooo lazy lol
