Things I hate on LCHF

The list is short:
BPC with coffee grounds in it. I bet every third pot the filter folds over and I drink grounds. I try so hard every morning to get the filter perfect in there alas...I drink grounds 33% of the time. Whyforhowcome, I ask, whyforhowcome? I never drank coffee before this WOE. I may have to switch to tea...or hint around for a Keurig

Buy a Bunn coffee pot, and never look back. They can be a but pricey, given how plain they are, but their brew time and quality of coffee are second to none. Also, try making just a hair more coffee than you actually want, and let it settle for a second when it's done. The grounds will sink, and if you slow pour, they'll usually remain in the leftovers, which you can just toss. I brew into the decanter, but pour into a glass measuring cup for the actual mixing process, for that very reason.5

I know those feels. My pot is a cheap POS. But it works, so I have a mini-sieve and use it in my mug when I pour.
Mouth fulla grounds = no bueno.

Things I hate on LCHF:
-Drinking hardly any beer
-Having to think so much about salt
-Eating so few fruits
That's about it.5 -

Man, speaking of salt, I think I'll have some Wild Bill's jerky today. I swear, it's the only common jerky around here that isn't loaded with sugar. Seriously, *kitten* Jack Links and every other corp who think that beef needs sweetened.7 -
Things I hate about LCHF:
No ice cream.
Very limited alcohol, particularly beer, hard cider and vodka with cranberry juice (only have a very occasional glass of wine)
Limited fruit.
No French fries.2 -
Thing I ate on LCHF:
I miss fruit!
Also being in college it's really difficult to stay on track while everyone around you is ordering pizza, takeout, etc. So it's a bit of a bummer trying to stay social whenever they have parties or something. Oh, and when we do go out, I'll order something KETO friendly, like a burger, bunless, with cheese and bacon, no fries, and they either laugh at me or call it unhealthy. So, that can be kind of annoying, and makes me feel self-conscious, even though I know for me it's healthy.

Things like that generally make me want to start throwing sources and studies at people, but that tends to ruin a night out.4 -
I miss beer... Also agree about the salt thing! It takes a huge change in the way you think to eat more salt. Funny I didn't think twice before about killing a whole bag of chips, lol!! Easy to get sodium eating junk!1

I used to be lchf but in Feb. moved to ZC. No artificial sweetener, no processed anything. I lost cravings completely in the first week. Now I have more energy, even moods and sleep better. So many things have improved in the last 130 days that I wish I had kept a journal.6

Things I hate about LCHF:
Having to work so hard to get enough salt
Trying to find a way to eat at social gatherings without people saying something or trying to tell me how wrong this WOE is.....
Not being able to have ice cream or fruit, especially when it's 112 degrees outside!
No alcohol, especially Wine and no carrot cake with cream cheese frosting
3 -
- no beer
- no cinnamon buns with cream cheese icing
- no yogurt with fruit (haven't found one low enough in carbs yet)
- hormonal changes
- bathroom issues2 -
I bought salt pills. 1g of salt in pill form. Take 2 with my vitamins... solves the whole issue.3

My daughter made these awesome keto cake pops. Don't miss cake anymore. I do however miss yogurt parfaits. Love yogurt and fruit with a little granola.
Gotta say that I am no longer craving carbs... miss them on occasion.... but don't crave them at all.4 -

Things I hate on LCHF: Nothing!
Well, maybe I hate the way I'm acutely aware of how bad all those other things are for me now that I'm not consuming them on a daily basis. Ignorance may have been bliss, but I felt horrible every single day.
Regarding coffee grounds, that happens frequently at work, but it's always when people 1) don't make sure the coffee all makes it into the filter, 2) don't ensure the filter has not fallen into the center before starting it, or 3) remove the carafe while it's brewing and the basket fills up with water above the top of the filter. I very rarely have that problem at home. Well, it never happens now, but I use a French press or Aeropress now. I used a drip coffee maker for years and probably ended up with grounds in my coffee a dozen times. It happens. And it's gross, I agree!3 -
I hate that when I see someone eating loads of heavily sugar laden things, like at a party or something, that I have to be aware of my facial expression so that I don't stare and look disgusted. Because I doubt they will realize it's the food item that I find disgusting and not them. Lol
But all I can think about is what's going to happen to their liver and blood sugar for the next couple hours.13 -
I don't hate anything about LC or LCHF, although I do miss feigning ignorance lol If that makes sense. Now that I know that this woe is the best way for me to eat due to my lower sugar levels, weight loss and overall better feeling, then I can't deceive myself into eating stuff that i know is not good for me.3

Eat the toppings, or order wings (bone in, the boneless ones are breaded). As an added bonus, you can watch their jaws drop when you polish off a double order of wings despite being "on a diet."
Also, just laugh back at them and say you'd rather be eating all these wonderful, delicious, "unhealthy" things and watch your health improve, than be miserable to see the scale maybe go down along with your health.3 -
For those lamenting ice cream:

(Real ice cream is basically just frozen eggnog, really. The big difference is in the proportion of milk/cream to egg yolks. This gets you two treats in one. )6 -

Things I hate --
- Knowing my WOE can help my diabetic family, but they refuse to listen, so I have to watch their health go downhill
- Having to take dishes and silverware camping, due to lack of buns and not wanting burnt fingers (though sliced cheese does make a decent substitute for a hot dog bun...)6 -

I stopped craving too. Miss some things on occasion.0 -
NACL isn't that salt?

Comments. "When will you go back to eating normal?" is my mom's favorite. I love her but she worries for the fun of it. She says she's afraid I'll get too skinny... I'm 5'8", weigh around 157, and have some pretty serious bat wings when I point. It's goofy.
I miss easy dessert/treat options. I really liked candy and now I can't eat it. I know there are substitutes but that is a rabbit hole I don't want to go down.
I miss ignorance too... Even if I wanted to eat high carb treats, I can;t because I know what it does to me and the junk that is in it. Yes jelly bellies, I am talking to you.
BUT the positives outweigh the negatives by quite a bit. I won't write all those down. The thread would get too long.7 -
Working with people who celebrate something every other day and buy a cake or doughnuts for every celebration.
Hearing "Why don't you want any? Are you on a diet?" every time I won't eat the cake. Like I'm an alien.
Missing crunchy foods. I don't like pork rinds all that much, and I really don't like anything made from flax seeds, and I'm trying to avoid nuts. Doesn't leave me much.
Missing beans.
Watching my mother, who's never weighed more than 120 pounds in her life at 5'8", eating everything she wants without worry. Why did I have to get everything from my father?3 -

I was going to cheat with ice cream on Saturday, but the Custard Cabin closed early and we ended up at the grocery store. I read about 15 cartons of delicious sounding flavors and decided that I have worked too hard to do that to myself.
@gypsy8080 I was very pleasantly surprised that when i roasted some brussel sprouts yesterday, the stray outer leaves that turned almost black had the salty crunch of a chip!! OH YEAH! Gonna do that again soon.5 -

Good for you!!0 -
I miss quinoa, brown basmati, fruit (I live in a major fruit belt and miss peaches, nectarines and cherries the most) and blue corn tortilla chips. Not craving so much as missing their lovely flavour. Pork rinds DO NOT CUT IT as chip replacements. And kale chips are too time consuming and expensive to make, as I can eat pounds of kale in a single sitting. Which is probably too many carbs anyhow, lol.
Unfortunately I do not have any health issues related to eating these foods, except a bit of possible weight gain (but not even to the overweight category) which I am trying to avoid as I go through menopause. It would be easier if I puked up, or my hair fell out, or I had an asthma attack when I eat them, lol.1 -
For the folks missing ice cream, if you're in the US, I've heard that Halo Top is fantastic.
http://www.halotop.com/
Unfortunately I'm in Canada and can only dream about it.0 -
What I hate is how many carbs seem to be in everything.
Every meal in any restaurant has enough carbs for a week.
A handful of chip has hundreds.
An order of fries has thousands.
Arrrggghhhh.
(Rant for the day. )4
