Pregnancy

I don't think I'm pregnant. All the googling I did basically said I wouldn't have any symptoms this early at all. Another test last night plus a third this morning were all negative.
This just proves when we do start trying I'm going to be a complete basket case!!0 -
It's so easy to notice symptoms when you're trying! And then you have a month where you're like:
"Oh the timing was wrong because of the work trip"
and "I have no symptoms at all!"
and then BAM! This happens:
(hehe sorry, I had to say something!)
(please don't post anything about this on my wall though, it's so new!)
(I actually tried to post this this morning but for some reason the picture wouldn't load, so I changed my post)

You're welcome! I'm glad it was us you chose to tell! haha =P0
-
Eeeek! Congratulations @VeryKatie ! So excited for you! How did you tell hubby? Any symptoms at all yet? Estimated due date? Details!!
Sorry I have been MIA and just saw this, haven't been logging in all weekend. Family emergency. Great news to log in to and see though!0 -
OMG!! Congratulations @VeryKatie!! I second Kirstie's request for details!!
Nothing still for me. I'm on cycle day 47. Took another negative pregnancy test Friday morning. Still having weird symptoms, like occasionally sore nipples, random pains on first the left then right side of my abdomen, really horny, really tired, etc.... At this point I'm assuming my hormones are just really messed up from being on birth control for so long and only being off of it for 2 months.
How are you doing @Kirstie155?0 -
I'm in the two week wait right now. Crossing my fingers for everyone.1
-
I told my husband that my period was two days late and we decided to go out and buy a good quality pregnancy test. I'd already peed on sticks each of the two days previous, but honestly, they just looked like dye runs (cheap tests) so they were inconclusive. So I peed on the two in the picture the next morning (at like 6:00 am). After three minutes, I opened the bathroom door and Chris was like "Good or bad?" And I was like "Good, very good!" and we hugged and kissed and stuff haha. Then we went to work where we had to contain our happiness! It's a good thing I had training or I wouldn't have gotten anything done hahah.
As for symptoms... I have zero, other than a missing period. And a cold which could be a symptom of a suppressed immune system (as happens in early pregnancy) or simply of it being autumn. I am awaiting more symptoms all the while praying for the pregnancy to stick and to be healthy.
I'll be going to the doctor tomorrow at lunch but the due date if all goes well is likely around June 14 if the internet calculators are correct.
@Kirstie155 is everything ok? I hope your emergency resolved quickly and for the better!
@computerfox82 ah, the dreaded two week wait. It is well worth the wait though!
@puffbrat I actually think it might be a good idea to talk to your doctor about your cycle. Even though you just went off birth control so it isn't unheard of, it's still probably safer to get it checked out.0 -
@Kirstie155 I hope everything is okay! HUGS!
@puffbrat I agree with @VeryKatie. I think getting it checked out would be a good idea.
@computerfox82 Good luck! I hope those two weeks go fast for you and it's good news!
@VeryKatie Yay, details! I love details! haha I hope your appointment goes well tomorrow!0 -
Omg, next person who tell's their husband should do this if he likes coffee hahah:

@VeryKatie Congratulations! That is very exciting. Keep us all updated.0
-
@VeryKatie Yay for details! That's really sweet that Chris was right there with you.
I plan to see my doctor if I make it to cycle day 55 with nothing. A friend went off birth control about a year ago, and she told me that her first few cycles were 45-50 days long. She is only now getting down to a more average 33 day cycle. I've also noticed a few women on the Ovia app comment about having previously had 52-53 day cycles shortly after stopping birth control. So I figure I will wait it out this week and then go to the doctor for a blood test and check up to try to determine what is going on.
On a different note, last night I spoke to a good friend who lives across the country and I only get to chat with a couple times a year. She has been TTC for about 1.5 years. I learned last night that she is a carrier for a couple of things that often lead to miscarriage and infertility, and she's going through a rough time trying to conceive with artificial insemination and now IVF. That was a very sobering conversation. I really hope she gets a healthy pregnancy this cycle and hope my husband and I don't wind up in a similar position.1 -
@VeryKatie it's interesting to hear your experience with the tests. When I bought the cheap strips on Amazon, I also bought one box with 3 of the expensive digital tests because I knew when the time came I would want that extra assurance. Maybe I should take one of the expensive ones this week.0
-
@puffbrat I suspect you would be having pregnancy symptoms by now if you were pregnant (after all, you'd be almost 8 weeks along and 90% of women have symptoms by then... assuming you count from the first day of your last period), so if it were me, I don't think I'd use the expensive test. I'd just go to the doctor. I guess I use my doctor pretty frequently though since all my visits are covered by my provincial health plan. Not sure how that works for you. In which case, if the test is cheaper, go for it.
It is really sobering having friends who are TTC so long. I have friends who got married three weeks before I did last July and started TTC on their wedding night. They're talking to fertility specialists now and as far as I know, still not pregnant. And other friend of mine just had a miscarriage just before they were about to announce
I went to the doctor at lunch today and her urine test was inconclusive, just like mine seemed to be until I took the digital test. So she sent me for a blood test which means it'll be a week until I hear back about the results. I'll probably pee on another stick on Friday to see if it changes. Hoping to get some symptoms soon.
Oh and on another note... my boss asked me if I was pregnant today for the second time in 3 weeks. Pretty sure he's not supposed to ask that. But then after I said no and my friend (who knows we're trying) said I was drinking at the wedding this weekend, he offered me his wife's 40% off discount from Dynasty Maternity when the time comes.0 -
@VeryKatie In the US, your boss cant ask you about your health at all, but it gets sticky sometimes. I would feel weird talking to HR to report my boss on something like that though, bc I get along well with my boss and its a small company. But you better believe Im keeping my ttc info to myself! And I would be really uncomfortable if he flat out asked me like yours did (twice!) How did that make you feel? Are you close? Does he know you're trying?
And if he does know, I think that's weird unless he is your brother in law or something. What if something happened, or you weren't able to get pregnant? You never know what someone else is struggling with....Im not even telling my family when we are ttc because I don't want that added pressure or people asking me all the time if I am pregnant!
Hoping you have a sticky baby, and ease your mind during the wait to find out. *hugs* I know its agonizing.
@puffbrat Sorry to hear your cycle is so long. I really wouldnt *worry* yet, as coming off of hormonal birth control can take a few months to regulate. I stopped taking the pill about a year ago, when I started using the Ovia app, and when I met with my obgyn for the first time and she laughed at me for being concerned. I wanted to be able to just pull the goalie, and not have to wait for my cycle to get normal again. I also didnt really do very well on hormones, and wanted them out of my system. I can only imagine how stressed you are waiting for your period, and anxious to get pregnant. I hope you get it soon, baby dust to you
Anyone use wedding bee? I had an account on there when I was pre-engaged and during my wedding planning, and recently started logging in again. There is a great ttc and pregnancy community there!
Got my period btw. Silly me, sore boobs =/= pregnancy. Duh. Also going on a business trip tomorrow for a week, so I might be mia for awhile. I hate typing responses on my phone, stupid thing wipes and loses my post too much. But I'll be reading and hoping for positive pregnancy tests for you ladies! My family emergency was a death in the family on my husbands side. Thanks for the support0 -
@Kirstie155 It's illegal for my boss to ask me about being pregnant here in Canada too. It's a protected characteristic. And I'm not close with my boss... I can tell he's trying a lot harder lately (after having worked for him for a year an a half) to build more of a good relationship, but honestly our personalities clash a bit. I just keep it to myself so hopefully he doesn't know how I feel about him. I don't dislike him. But... well "like" is a strong word as well.
I would NEVER tell him that I'm trying (er... that I'm in the early stages of success?) and have no intention on telling him I'm pregnant until I have to. The only reason I would tell earlier is if I'm not comfortable with travelling. My biggest issue is having to take motion sickness pills for travel which are generally unsafe for pregnancy. So I might choose to tell HR.
Thanks for the sticky baby wishes! It's nerve racking. Every time I go to the bathroom I always have moments of "no blood please!" just before going. And I worried about it the whole time during my kickboxing class today too, worried somehow that doing sit-ups was going to be a bad thing and not too much jumping and stuff.0 -
Oooh, Katie I would make sure that you are clear with him that you are not discussing your body or health with him no matter what! If someone asked me if I was pregnant, and I had no intention of telling them or was uncomfortable, I'd say something along the lines of "That's none of your business/Are you allowed legally to ask me that" is you wanted to be perfectly clear with no smiles.
Or if you want to say it in a bit more of a sarcastic way, "No, why? Are you?/I don't think you're allowed to ask me that *fake smile* let's go ask HR!"
I'm sorry, I thought you *had to be* really close with him to ask you something so personal. What is wrong with him?! Make sure you tell him how you feel now, or once you announce he may be asking all kinds of inappropriate personal questions about your body, the delivery, breastfeeding. Make sure you let him know you aren't comfortable talking to him about it. I'm sure it will be awkward to say, but a short awkward convo is better than a long awkward pregnancy, delivery and beyond!
I'd HR, if you have one.0 -
Thanks for the responses everyone. Part of the reason I want to wait longer before going to the doctor is like Kirstie said about your doctor laughing at you for being worried. I just don't want to go in and waist my doctor's time and mine over nothing. I figure if I wait until cycle day 60, then I will have missed 2 periods and have a more legitimate reason for a checkup.
Also, to answer your question Katie, at her new practice an appointment with my doctor now apparently costs $111 after insurance. Thankfully my husband and I have an HRA to help pay for medical costs, but that will get blown through rapidly at that rate. The digital pregnancy test is definitely cheaper than a doctor visit.
I do have all kinds of weird symptoms that I feel fairly confident are related to hormonal changes, but those could certainly be from going off birth control and not necessarily a sign of pregnancy.
@VeryKatie I hope you get your sticky baby!
@Kirstie155 I'm sorry to hear about the death of your husband's family member! I hope you both are doing well0 -
@puffbrat $111 is pricey, I don't blame you for not wanting to go into the doctor just yet. My doctor laughed at me because we were still over a year from TTC, I doubt you would be laughed at Even so, it was good that I learned I'm not comfortable with this doctor early on. I'd hate to go through pregnancy with someone I didn't like as a doctor.
My visits are covered under "well women" preventative care. But I'm sure if I go often I'll have to pay. Annually is correct Vered, and once I'm pregnant they are covered as well.0 -
I do love my doctor. I have been seeing her for about 9-10 years, so I know she wouldn't laugh at me or talk down to me. I just don't want to waste her or my time and that much money. It's frustrating that a visit costs so much since she is in-network for my insurance and I have a decent plan. My husband would prefer I find a less expensive practice to visit, but I have a wonderful relationship with this doctor and told him I'm not going to give that up since we can afford the visits.
I will say that at CD51, I'm still having some odd and random pains/symptoms and feel like my period just isn't even planning to come but I still don't necessarily think I'm pregnant. My husband thinks I am. We'll just have to see....0 -
@puffbrat I took another cheapie test and it showed a strong positive. So I bet your cheapie tests are working, especially if you're taking them at far apart intervals (mine was a week between). But that being said, if you have to pay $111 for a doctor's visit, I'd definitely use the expensive tests first too! Not going to lie, I love Canada's government healthcare plan haha. I also agree with you on not switching doctors. It took me 4 years to find another one I like an even then I can tell it's not a perfect fit. I would try to stop stressing too much about your period for now. Stress might also be part of the problem after all.
@Kirstie155 I think if my boss mentions it one more time I'm going to have to ask him to stop in a private meeting. For now I've been able to drop it, but I think the next one will really bug me. Also good point that those symptoms are for period too! It's weird how similar they are, isn't it!? All I'm getting so far is a few mild cramps, so mild I can't even be sure that's a symptom.
@computerfox82 thanks for the congrats wishes by the way How's it going?1 -
Something weird today... I still haven't heard form the doctor about confirming my pregnancy. But I have to sign up for daycare tonight/tomorrow morning for June of 2018. So... hopefully all those home pregnancy tests are right lol.0
-
@puffbrat How are things going now? Did you take one of the expensive test yet or still waiting it out?
@VeryKatie I think I may have missed this but when did you go to your doctors? Should you have heard by now? Can you call in and ask about the results?0 -
@WifiresGettingFit I went to the doctor on the 11th. Because she asked for a quantitative blood test I was told it would take a week to get the results. I called on Tuesday and they still don't have the results back from the lab. I booked an appointment for Friday as it was my last chance to get appropriate motion sickness pills before my now cancelled trip so I'm hoping they have them by then. I asked them to call me when the results were in... but... that's kind of not how doctors work here.1
-
@VeryKatie Oh, well I hope they have them at your appointment on Friday!0
-
@VeryKatie I hope they have your results at your appointment tomorrow! I hope you went ahead and signed up for the daycare. I'm sure you could always cancel it if necessary.
@WifiresGettingFit I did take the expensive test and it was negative also. At this point I'm assuming my cycle is just seriously messed up. Saturday I having really sharp pains all morning while we were driving to the park for camping. I wonder if it was ovulation pain which I sometimes get on the right side, although never that sharp. Today I'm having a teeny bit of spotting that is barely noticeable. I'm planning to call the doctor's office Monday to get an appointment unless my period starts this weekend.0 -
@puffbrat I hope they get you in asap and that it is just your body adjusting to coming off birth control!0
-
Thanks @WifiresGettingFit0
