    10.6 (190).

A question for the universe. If you eat only veggies, with perhaps a bit of protein, as suggested by the pancreas team, would this lower you blood sugar? After all, veggies have lots of carbs as well.

I think it depends on what veggies. Some veggies have a high glycemic index, such as white potatoes or corn.

i would bet it would, depending on your veggies though. Veggies have carbohydrates, fiber, some protein and sugar. as long as you keep your carb number reasonably low it might be a boring diet though but that is my opinion i like my processed grains and know that they are not always the best choice. lower glycemic index foods generally lead to lower bg levels and non starchy veggies tend to have lower GI numbers. the-gi-diet.org/lowgifoods/ has a list of many foods and their GI index numbers.

Veggies have lots of fiber in them even if they have carbs...it prevents/slows the blood sugar spikes. Even if I have a ton of veggies my blood sugar is never as high as if I eat bread or pasta or cookies...even if the carb count is the same. Different effect.

I finally got my computer back after dying last week. I tried to post from my phone, but the forums wouldn't post. So, today was 108 and I'm glad to be able to post again. Happy Halloween all :)

11.6 (208.8). Between not sleeping, stress, and eating junk, it's not higher. No, the next five days will be clear fluids, 1 coffee with milk, and Glucerna.

is that doctor's orders? either way that sounds like a horrid diet. I would be chewing through the leather restraints :)

This was because I couldn't find anything on the Ottawa Hospital website about my surgery. This is from the Methodist Hospital website. But, I had my pre-op appointment yesterday. There is a God, because they told me to eat normally until midnight the night before, and I can drink 90 minutes before leaving for the hospital. So, I bought some good, healthy food for the next couple of days.

8.6 (154.8) And, after getting some information from all the people involved with the surgery, I slept like a baby last night. Lower number this morning.
