    Good explanation, thanks!

I recently bought 4 boxes of Atkins bars when they were BOGO. I loved them, but they were the first low-carb/fake-sweetener food I tried that totally bothered my digestive system. No more for me. They were tasty though!

What happens if I don't/didn't lose a lot of weight the first week or 2? Does it mean I did not use all of my glycogen stores? And does it that I am still not in ketosis 5 weeks later, despite keeping my carbs below 30 (usually closer to 20)? Yikes!

Thank you for posting this!! I didn't even experience rapid weight loss in induction but it does help to hear about the slow loss.

1 lb of fat has 3500 calories. 1 lb of glycogen/water has 500 calories. Everything else being the same (calorie deficit wise) you'll be losing weight at 1/7th the rate while burning fat as when you were burning glycogen. If you lost 7 lbs in your 1st week on induction it is not a surprise at all that you'll lose 1 lb/week by your 2nd or 3rd week. ONE POUND A WEEK IS GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is not a failure. It is success.
    A ha! Thanks!

I've heard them called, er, Sorebuttal bars.

    LOL!
For me it was stomach pain, nausea and reflux.

Nausea, tummy pains and butt pee... those bars are made out of evil itself.

Good post then there are others like me who did not lose even one pound of any kind of weight for the first 42 days of eating LCHF but did lose inches. We all can respond differently.

It was only when I stopped dieting to lose weight did my health recovery start. As often in the case of autoimmune diseases or obesity it starts with a leaking gut syndrome which I am sure was a fact in my case. It only took 30 days for my pain to become well managed but 180 days for my IBS symptoms to fully resolve and stay that way.

this may be why I weight loss slowed being that I have RA and like you have lost inches. how did you resolve leaky gut? Also have you tried Glutamine-L?

I haven't seen this before but great post! On the Atkins bars/shakes. Oddly enough those are the only brand that, to me, taste good and DON'T bother my stomach in any way.

@rugged1529 all I did was go LCHF which automatically occurred when I cut out sugar and all forms of all grains Oct 2014. It was about six months later when I realized the IBS of 40 years had left. Not sure when it actually happened. I still do 2-5 tablespoons of coconut oil in my first cup of coffee daily plus eat a cup or two of coconut flakes through out the day.

Dr. Amy Myers is not a name that I remember but I want to hear more of her work and teachings.

Sure! It's hard, and I always recommend doctor supervision, but it works for me.
