That made me think of a Brick Session for Triathlon training. At least you were in the water. I was on the side of a mountain shoveling snow to self rescue my company truck. May have said **** Kitten more than once.

    200 backstroke

During my 150s, the guy in the lane next to me wanted to work on his breaststroke so he would take off when I was coming back on my first 50 free and asked me to try to chase him down. A little more work, but a lot of fun.

I did 150 m freestyle trying to master rotary breathing and 900 m breaststroke because rotary breathing caused large gulps of water.

Got in on Tuesday to do my usual workout, but my daughter's coach flagged me down after 15 laps. She said my daughter wasn't feeling well. Turns out, the kid thinks it was a panic/anxiety attack. Yikes. So I sat on the bench with her, let her eat something, drink water, breathe... Does anybody have experience with this? I don't get them, but my daughter said that she had it happen the first time last week. We've made an appointment with her doctor, mostly because she was willing to do it and I want her to get the message that mental health is as important as physical health. She's my 3rd kid, but we haven't tackled this before.

@jessetfan One of the drills an instructor had me do when I was working on my Bi-Lateral Breathing was to use a pool-buoy or fins so you don't have to think about the kick and just concentrate on the coordination of arms and breathing rotation. Not sure if it makes any sense to you but try it.

Finally back in the water after a bad bout of bronchitis. I swam 2500 yesterday. I won't be able to swim again until next weekend but then I should be able to get back into regular swimming.

    YES!!!

First 'real' swim for over a year.

Some of you will remember me - I'm cheering for the more modest swimmers in the group/reading the posts...

Back in the day (!) a typical swim was a weekly 1k in 40/45 mins - lots of drills in that, across all 4 strokes. Occasionally more. No ambition for mega speed or distances - by personality mainly but also more latterly through health issues.

About a year ago we got a (rather lovely) dog and that pushed the swimming out, and a new friendship group of dog walkers in. But I am newly determined (and better 'bodied') to do a weekly swim again.

So I Started off with a gentle reintro - c700m of my usual old drill patterns, with lots of breath catching at the ends. Er, lots! Over 40 mins in pool I guess.

My oh my - my upper body has lost strength! And I have totally lost the butterfly timing.

But I did get really warm welcome backs from one of my teachers there and my favourite lifeguard - who both went out of their way to be kind, and tell me my form is still looking pretty good etc. That was really nice. And the endorphins lasted for ages and ages after!

Good to see so many regular names - i hope you are all doing well - and hello to the new ones.

Ps Curly - sorry to hear about your daughter. Yes I do, with mine. Hugs.

Mssg me if you want...but sounds like you are doing all the right things!

(And exercise is a key enemy of anxiety so it is good she is swimming even if that session went splat)
