    2650m

    1000m free
    100m kick
    100m free
    4x25 IM kick
3x200 free - focus on stroke length
    3x100 - breast/back/free
2x200 free - focus on stroke power
    50 easy

    January total - 15,488 yards (8.8 miles)
Year to date - 15,488 yards (8.8 miles)

On track to hitting my 2018 goal of 100 miles. If I actually step it up and swim 3x a week, should be able to surpass it easily.

2550 m February Adult Swim club.
So I had all of 4-5 days of swimming in January so I knew this was going to hurt.

    Warm-up 50m Free, Kick, Pull = 150m

    Free
    4 x 50m on 20, 15, 10, 5 SecRI then repeat x 4 = 800m
    4 x 150m Broken 10 SecRI - 50, 75, 25 = 600m

Backstroke (to break up the free and change up muscle loading)
    50m Kick, Catch-up, 6-kick Switch, Pull = 200m
    100m Backstroke

    Free
    2 x 300m Pyramid 25, 50, 75, 75, 50, 25 @ 10SecRI = 600m

    100 Easy Choice Cooldown

Working on getting more balance in my stroke.
My right hand I tend to dive it into the water making for a shorter pull on the right.
My left I get a nice long pull but I tend to drop it into the water with an audible plop and a major stream of air bubbles, indicating a very inefficient-non-streamline entry.
Also working on more balance in my 3 cycle breathing. Left shoulder is ragged when compared to my right.

So if I wake up in the morning and can't lift my arms to wash my face, brush my teeth etc I know what caused it.

Yesterday - still working my way back into the pool - so this time 850m in 30/40 mins.

I have to take it gently....doctor's orders. So it was a Big Deal for me to add getting back into the pool into my schedule last week.

Er - I hope you don't mind my pointing this out, but it wasn't exactly the warmest welcome back to the group last week from the 'old familiars' after my year out !

Mmm. Has this group lost its supportive mojo, or did I just pick an unlucky week to dive back in?!

Ah well. It is good to see some great swims going on.

And hope you all enjoy getting wet...however fast/long/often you manage this week. X

A lot probably post their swims without reading other posts. Or use the like buttons etc instead of an actual reply. But welcome back!

@gentlygently As Emma said sometimes I (we) post without reading all the accomplishments-swims of others. As an example I knew that Emma was going to Wellington but had car trouble and that she had been doing some open water swims as training for an event. Just didn't connect the dots of Open Water event in Wellington until I saw her post of the medal. Also I get a little overwhelmed trying to keep up with the Running Group monthly challenge, Local run club, Triathlon club, swimming, curling etc.

So welcome back glad to see you able to get into the water and make some laps.

I haven't been in the pool as regularly. I had that awesome swim a week ago. Then on Monday, it was awful. No fault of my own, but holy cow--swimmers using kickboards VERTICALLY to swim down. I know that I should have switched lanes, but when I get in with swimmers who are much faster, that isn't great either. I stuck it out, but good grief. I ended up bailing on Tuesday to spend time alone with my husband instead of trying again at the same pool. Last swim team swim is next week, then back to my regular routine.

Welcome back, gently! The support is still here, but I will add that I'm also not posting as much--winter :pensive: It's good to see you back. It must have felt SO GOOD to get in the water again!

Finally... 45 laps last night, 48 + an aquafit class this morning. I secured permits to climb Mt. St. Helens this summer, so training has officially moved to the forefront! I've been told that any training in water is good for altitude training, so I'm grateful that I already like swimming :)
