@VeryKatie Happy February indeed. And happy late Valentine's Day to everyone!
@puffbrat How did it go with the Superbowl eating? Journaling matters even when calories are over IMHO.

@SheilAnneSmith That conference sounds like a nightmare! I hope they paid you well for all that trouble and overtime. Welcome home though. Get some rest!

@RhiannonBecks Glad you had a great time in Mexico! Sounds like you're getting ready to take a big step. Takes a lot of courage. I never got that far to seek specialist help. I did try a lot of natural/cheaper ways such as CoQ10, wild yam lotion, mustard oil, vitamins. And I think losing 13 lbs helped considering where my weight was at the time. Let us know how it all goes. We're rooting for you!

@girlalmighty08 You need your own reno show! I hope we get to see pics at some point. So exciting! At least when the carpet arrives, it'll be quick to go in. I think demoing the floor is a much longer/harder process.

@WifiresGettingFit It's starting to feel like spring here. Flowers have started blooming on the super early bushes and daffs are creeping up. Maybe some spring will come your way. The apartment fire--glad they got it out and that it didn't damage your building too badly.

@pezhed Sound stressful! How long do you think this project will take. VaTech? That's out near my neck of the woods--about an hour from where I live. My husband graduated from Radford in the Blacksburg/Christiansburg area. It's a great area to live in. Lots of bike trails/hiking/camping out there. Scenery is beautiful, although our mountains are more like hills for you guys. Haha. I hope you do come out here. I think you'll love it. ^__^

So as far as me, I had a decent week last week. I even got to the gym, but over did it in my zeal. Did not stretch before or after, and ended up with an annoying muscle twitch in my knee that lasted three days! Lesson learned about that! I also heard baby kicking the Fetal Doppler at my midwife appointment. I'm raising a ninja! I can't feel kicks yet, but I did feel/see baby move one time. Saw my belly twitch and change shape. It felt incredibly strange.

This week I got norovirus (I think) from one of 3 people at work who had it. Despite my best efforts to send my sick staff home, I still got it! Researching it, I found out pregnant women are #1 targets for this bad boy due to our lowered immune systems. Yuck. One can get it from touching a doorknob. It's resistant to hot and cold, sanitizer, (including restaurant grade sanitizer), and household cleansers. The good news is that it does not cross the placenta or affect baby unless I were to get super dehydrated. So the last few days I've been sleeping, chugging gatorade, playing Fallout 3, and being a total grumpus in the house. I'm starving because of baby. If I eat, I BLEK. If I don't eat, I'm queasy from baby. The hubs cooked this fabulous steak dinner for Valentine's Day and I couldn't eat it. Maybe today? I'm desperately trying to sip my first cup of coffee in days, and then I'm going to make myself go to work. Even if I'm still a little queasy, I can't take another day shut in the house bored out of my mind. Haha. Luckily, there's lots to do away from the kitchen and customers.

Erm, and I did lose 2 lbs out of this. I know I shouldn't be relieved by weight loss, but I am. I started to freak out last week when I hit and went over a certain number on the scale. Logically, I know baby weight is normal and healthy, and not a death sentence. But emotionally, it's a totally different matter, and really hard to convince myself that this is OK and that I'm going to be OK. Because it doesn't look or feel OK. And I'm only halfway through this, and keep comparing myself to my pregnant friends who are skinnier than me and not gaining nearly so much weight. Anyway, looking forward to having a nice normal weekend and sanity. You guys have a good one!

    Happy Friday everyone!

I weighed in this morning and I'm down 5 pounds since this month... feeling VERY good about that! I'm hosting a "Ladies Night" fundraiser tomorrow for my service club (I'm a Kinette, for those of you that know what that is)... which means lots of booze and yummy snacks. It'll be my first real temptation this month so hoping I can stay strong. Part of the evening is also a "romance presentation" so at least I might be able to walk out with some swag to make TTC a little more spicy (sorry if that's TMI, haha)

And thanks @RhiannonBecks - good news is our carpets came earlier than expected so by the end of the weekend my house will be in order, hurray!

@RhiannonBecks Do you meal prep? It can help when things are chaotic or when you have those I don't want to cook days. I feel like you mentioned meal prepping before so I don't feel that's going to be very helpful but it was my first thought. haha

If you have the time and freezer space and a slow cooker, these might be useful:
    1. 7 Meals in 1 Hour
    2. 40 Meals In 4 Hours

I'm sorry to hear about your migraines and hope that your new doctor helps.

@Alioth We've been getting teases of Spring here and there for the past few weeks, I'm just ready for it to officially be here! haha That's awesome that you're feeling and seeing baby move! How exciting! Were you able to go back to work? I hope you're feeling much better now! Don't compare, every woman and pregnancy are different. You're doing what you can, just try to focus on that! =)

@girlalmighty08 Yay for the weight loss! How did the fundraiser go? I hope you got to err...get some extra spicy time in. haha!

Hello everyone! I'm sorry I've been absent lately, it's been a hectic couple of weeks, especially last week.

My husband has a very physically demanding job and hurt his back so we only got to try once during what I think were my fertile days. However, I had a little bit of spotting about 8 dpo and the day after which has since gone away and I've been feeling wiped out. I took a test yesterday and it was negative so I'm going to try again around when my period is due. Spotting is normal for me right before my period but it slowly gets heavier it never just stops so.. We shall see I guess.

Last Wednesday I quit my job kind of out of the blue, I couldn't stand how condescending the management was and they were completely unwilling to work with me with my schedule while my cousin (who I don't even see every year) was in town even though I had a suitable replacement to cover my shifts. I unexpectedly managed to find another job on Friday and I'm about to go in this morning for my first day, so wish me luck!

I will have to catch up and read what everyone is up to, hope you're all well!

@WifiresGettingFit I Do indeed meal prep, it is my Sunday tradition (Typically), lol I think going to Mexico and having so many plans lately, as well as having a construction crew in our house has just thrown things out of routine which just gives me an excuse not too! I did take a few hours yesterday though as I had a day off and planned all of my lunches as well as our dinners for this week. :)

@aubyshortcake - I am sorry to hear about your husbands back! I hope your first day at your new job went well, and how awesome that you were able to find another job so fast, and Kudos for standing up for yourself as well.

@girlalmighty08 - how did your event go? Congrats on that loss as well, that is awesome! Keep up the great work.

My appointment went VERY well yesterday. I got to meet my new OB/GYN - and let me just say the entire staff was so nice, I felt comfortable and right at home immediately. So my new doctor and I discussed TTC and questions, concerns for nearly an HOUR! I didn't feel rushed, it didn't feel like she was just going through the motions.

She said bc I am over 35 and the fact we have had unsuccessful attempts x9 cycles, that we aren't going to wait any longer to do a work up for fertility so that was a breath of fresh air. I did some basic blood work yesterday, and I have to track my Basal Body temp on a template they gave me for this next cycle (which, thankfully is only 4 days away so I'll be able to track & fax back pretty soon). I have not once had a positive ovulation testing at home, so we are going to verify w/temps if I do indeed ovulate; and also watch for timing, bc I tend to have shorter cycles (21-24 days) that I could possibly have a luteal phase defect that wouldn't support developing.
--Oh, also, she gave me a lab slip for husband to do a semen analysis so that is done and she said she will call once it has been reviewed.

So, no answers yet, and of course I wasn't expecting any, but I do feel hopeful at least that we are on the starting line of the race to figure out the what/why's of it all.

Sending hugs & as always, tons of positive vibes your way ladies!

    :)

    Hey ladies!

Just popping in, I'm still alive! How are all of you? I will try to read a few of the previous posts. I do still lurk here to see what's going on with everyone.

I feel a bit guilty not being very active here these days. I'm feeling a bit down today and like I have no one to talk to... I definitely think I need to come back here. Everyone here is such a great support.

I'm starting to get worried about returning to work. Chris and I keep talking about division of labour when I go back but I have the hardest time believing that the "second shift" work will be equally split. I don't know why I keep worrying about things so far in advance. It's 4 to 6 months till I go back.

I wrote a whole long winded post about all these things I wanted to complain about and then realized it was making me feel worse. So I will leave it here for today.

I hope everyone is doing alright!! I want to try to make it a habit to log in here for a bit during Keith's 2nd nap a couple times a week.

@VeryKatie No need to feel guilty, we understand! I am glad to see you post though, we've missed you! I think you worry about things because it's the unknown and it's also likely stressing you out but it'll be okay! It'll be an adjustment when you go back to work but that's to be expected. It'll take getting used to and you guys will get into a routine eventually. As with everything else, it'll just take time. (and patience.) but you'll get there! =) Lots of hugs!

@WifiresGettingFit thanks for the sweet response to my post. I think the project will be done on its way to completion at the end of April but I'm not sure how long the edict will last. Hopefully I can just give notice shortly thereafter than I'm moving to VA  You so thoughtfully respond to everyone but rarely give updates on yourself! How are you doing? Thanks for sharing those meal planning things for @RhiannonBecks! I might check those out too!

@RhiannonBecks that is too funny about the abbreviation OV! I never would have pieced that one together no matter how much googling I did. Sounds like it was a productive "OV" and you're on your way to some answers!

@girlalmighty08 good job on the weight loss! Wow! Hope the event went well!

@aubyshortcake hope you get your positive test!! And congrats on quitting your job and getting a new one really quickly! I hope it's better for you.

@VeryKatie don't feel guilty about not being too active here. We know you have a lot going on! I don't have a baby yet but I hear your concerns about the "second shift". I think women just automatically carry the mental load a lot more than men do and rather than nagging them to do their part we just take care of everything ourselves. I think you might relate to this comic: https://workingmother.com/this-comic-perfectly-explains-mental-load-working-mothers-bear#page-21

I'm now at 11DPO and so happy to be here. It means one of two things: 1) I'm pregnant (but probably not given my negative tests so far) or 2) My luteal phase has extended which means my likelihood of getting pregnant is a lot higher. In either case, woohoo! So I'm feeling a lot more optimistic on that front today. Could be that it took a year for my body to regulate after birth control. SO consider that my advice to anyone waiting to start trying: stop BC at least a year before you're going to try.

On the getting healthier front, I'm starting today! I didn't weigh myself yet but I will track starting today.

    Happy hump day everyone!

Oh! @Alioth ! I specifically have been meaning to reply to you. Where in VA are you? I'm originally from Covington if you've heard of it. Really small papermill town about an hour north of Roanoke, so the move would be closer to home for me. We'd miss Colorado but it would be nice to be so close to family (without being TOO close to family, hehe). That sucks about the norovirus!! Ugh! Sounds especially terrible while pregnant.

@pezhed =) It sounds like a move might just be in order! I hope it works out for you! I also hope the meal planning links help! That's great about you either being pregnant or your body getting more consistent! I definitely reiterate what you said about being off BC at least a year. I'm nearing the year mark in March and it just recently started getting back to my pre-BC normal about 3 months ago and then it switched it up again this month so you may find you have a new "normal." Keep working at your goals, you never really fail unless you give up! You can do this!!

As for my check in, I haven't really talked about it much but I've been unemployed for the past 2 years - that is until today. I just received the official call that I've been hired. I'm excited! I'm glad the interview process is over. I had a phone interview yesterday and then two on site interviews today. The job is at the same building my husband works. We plan to car pool - the only thing is - is that I have to work 12:30 p.m. - 9 p.m. as that's what they start everybody out at so he'll have to change his schedule (which is somewhat flexible and not a problem) but it's basically going to be an all day thing at the office building. The good news is there is a gym on site plus I can eventually get an earlier time when I'm there longer and it's available but this time slot also comes with an increase in pay per hour. I'll likely take the 10:30 - 6 p.m. at some point since I'll still get the incentive pay for working the later shift and well...money. I'm still in the paperwork process currently but I should be starting within the next 2 weeks if everything continues to go well.

@WifiresGettingFit congratulations on the job!! How exciting! That shift is crummy but hopefully you can change it to the more tolerable hours before long. Woohoo! Great job!

@pezhed Thank you! =) Yeah the shift definitely isn't the best and not one that I would have picked for myself if I had a choice but they said that it's the only shift they hire for to start and I didn't want to be counted out and miss the opportunity. My main two goals were to get back to work and get my foot in the door and this will achieve both of those. It'll definitely be an adjustment though.

Hi all, thanks for the support!

@RhiannonBecks that is great you like your new OB/GYN! Sending you positive vibes!

@pezhed I have had similar experiences with getting off birth control, it's been over a year and I still don't think I'm totally regular. Glad to hear your cycle is sorting itself out!

@VeryKatie good to hear from you but don't feel guilty! :)

@WifiresGettingFit congrats on the job, how exciting!!

Quick update..I ended up getting my period so not pregnant, just kind of irregular I guess. I'm wondering if I should wait a month or two before trying again since I just started this new job and I don't want to totally overwhelm myself, I tend to get overwhelmed easily and get a lot of anxiety, I'll have to discuss it with Alex and see what he thinks.

The first week at the new job went great! I like it so much more than my last one. I need to work on my confidence though, I keep second guessing myself. My last office job was a terrible experience and it totally killed my confidence so I went back to being a server for 2 years, this is my first time back in an office setting since then. My new boss seems really really nice though and it's a much more laid back place, I think this is a really good fit for me.

Health wise I really am trying to eat better. I'm up a couple lbs since last month and I want to nip this in the bud now, especially since changing from an active job to a desk job. I would love to lose 5-10 lbs before getting pregnant if possible, but I'm not overly worried about it since I'll have to gain weight anyway, I just would be more comfortable with a slightly less fluffy feeling starting place. I'm going to go back to the gym and lift 3 days a week as well.

I hope all you ladies have a wonderful week!!

Hey all, just checking in. How is everyone doing? I read everyone's updates but I am having trouble for some reason going back and forth to read them without losing my comment so I can make a note to each person, but I did catch up.

Here's a long winded, I just need to get this off of my chest update on meee.....

it has been an...interesting week. Mostly good if I am honest, but a lot of confusion as well. So cliffs notes, you know I went to my new OBGYN and she wanted me start officially tracking my BBT every morning so we could once and for all find out if I ovulate or not. I have to track from the 1st day of my period until the start of my next. No biggie, I was actually semi pumped to do this bc when I left my appointment I thought "Perfect time, my cycles are predictable AF, like clockwork every month"...and no joke they are. I have used Ovia for several months and even before that when I used good ol paper calendar almost to the day I knew what day my period would start and it would be accurate.

So Feb 21 rolls around, the day I was expecting AF not much activity was happening just a bit of spotting, so nothing out of the ordinary really (Typical cycle is 1-2 days light spotting, 1 day full flow, 1 day light flow, 1 day minimal spotting and done) I didn't really think much of it. Usually though by the next day or at least by the end of the next day I am definitely needing to use a tampon; nope - not this time ( at this point, I was only even "spotting" when I wiped! ). So, to spare you all the rest of the details...For the last 7 days, I haven't had my period, not a single day, not a single drop. I was frustrated bc then I was thinking great, am I technically not even supposed to be charting my BBT NOW? The one month that I am supposed to be making headway on some answers, and my fricken body decided to go haywire. HMPH. Negative Pregnancy test last night before bed, got in a huge fight with my husband about the dumbest thing while laying in bed discussing our home reno project were about sign the contract for on Friday, went to go take a shower, got undressed stood in the shower and the handle popped right off so I couldn't even do that. Stood in the shower, naked, unable to shower.....and I started my darn period.

    I. Am. Not. kidding.

LOL. I mean, I am laughing today, because, honestly, LIFE. I sat there and cried, like a baby. Pulled it together, prayed to the heavens that we have a sink and Summers Eve Wipes, LOL and put my jammies on went to bed.

(BTW - bathroom is being remodeled so it is in temporary working order so we can shower at night so I am sure my husband could have came in and popped it back on, but see above statement, I was so mad I didn't even want to ask him haha).

So. Onto the next month. Not sure why I started a week late this month, maybe I am more stressed this month than usual, but I am a pretty anxious person by nature and I don't feel more stressed than I have ever been that would delay my AF... I don't know. But it's here, and I am charting, so, 20 some days and I'll schedule a follow up and go from there.

Hugs ladies, if you read this. thanks!

@girlalmighty08 so great about the event! Congrats!
@RhiannonBecks ahh how annoying that the cycle you are anxiously awaiting your period. That's great that you'll be charting. That should help squelch some of your anxiety going forward since you'll be more familiar with when you're ovulating and therefore when you should expect your period! Even if you are usually regular, ya never know when you're bodies going to troll you. In the subreddit I get tons of info from, a common saying is "you're regular until you're not".

I woke up this morning and did yoga before work (Yoga with Adriene on YouTube). It was only like 17 mins long but I'm glad I got out of bed. I did Day 1 of the 30-day challenge she did for the new year so I'm hoping to follow that along each morning of March. I weighed myself this morning to face the music and it ain't pretty. At least if I'm doing yoga it might help me relax and get me in the habit of waking up a little earlier. Otherwise work is still crazy and the pace is picking up. I'm continuously behind (so I thought why not check in on MFP? hehe) and will never catch up. I SO hope hubby gets the VA job and I can get out of here. Or really any full time job with benefits for him would help me get a chance to figure out what I want out of this life.

I got my period on Saturday so not pregnant. Of course it was right after I peed on an expensive test, haha. Why wouldn't it be? My luteal phase was a lot longer than normal so I'm hoping it means our likelihood of success is higher per cycle since longer LP = higher likelihood of implantation. Kris and I both started taking CoQ10 this cycle which is supposed to improve sperm and egg health. I don't think it has any weird side effects so it can't hurt.

@RhiannonBecks Gotta love those curve balls huh? =P I hope it's smooth sailing from here on out. Lots of positive thoughts sent your way! =)

@Pezhed I'm sorry work is so stressful! My last job was like that, there was never any time to get caught up and they just wanted more and more and more and it was *kitten* exhausting. I hope thing work out so you'll be able to get out of there. I have no doubt that you'll feel 100 times better when that happens. Sucks that you got your period but yay for a possible higher success rate as you move forward! Also awesome job on the yoga! =)

As for me, I'm still waiting for paperwork to move forward with this job. Nothing else can be done without it. The receptionist who works for them said that it took them a month to get things situated for her. I emailed the guy handling my hiring the other day to check in and sort of see where we are with the approvals and things and got an email right back saying that he is out of the office and will check in intermittently and will reply when he can. As I said already, that was a few days ago so I'm pretty sure his wife had their baby and it's their first child so I don't know if he's going to be out for a few weeks or what. I'm fine with waiting, I just get anxious. haha

I woke up today to the emails I had been waiting for. They were actually sent at 5 and 6 p.m. yesterday and I had thought I checked my email around that time and didn't have anything so I found that odd but it's possible I only thought I did it but really didn't because I'll be honest I was tired of checking and it being empty. Anyway, I got the official offer letter and have done all the other required paperwork. Now it's just to wait for the background check and get the drug screen done. I'm a little nervous as to where I'll have to go to get the drug screen done but I'm hoping it is somewhere close that's an easy drive. My official start date is March 12th. I'm excited to start working again but mostly just want to get the initial training done and get used to the whole thing. haha

Hi. I’m new to the group. I am trying to lose about 70 pounds before TTC #2. I had a very scary first end of my first pregnancy so I’m trying to prevent that from happening again. I do have a healthy 21 month old girl from that pregnancy who needs me to be around.

@nmpenneau6038 *waves* Welcome to the group! :) There's a spreadsheet to track your progress on the main page, you can join it at anytime if its something you're interested in. There is also a monthly challenge thread to go with it where we share our goals and progress. We are glad to have you here! :)

@nmpenneau6038 welcome! I hope this group can help you reach your goals! How's life with a 21 month old? If you decide to use the spreadsheet (link on main page) I hope you find it helpful. I like that it shows weekly averages, so if you totally blow it one day, the average doesn't seem so bad haha.

@WifiresGettingFit congrats on your new job!! I hope you transition well. It's scary to leave behind something known for something new, but can be totally worth it. I probably missed it, but what kind of job did you get now?

@pezhed I also use Yoga with Adrienne when I do yoga. She's great for beginners. I've never heard of CoQ10. hmmm!

Chris and I keep bouncing around the idea of trying for another baby. I'm in the mindset of "It would be nice to go back to work pregnant so that I could be out of there ASAP so I'd get more time with Keith, but oh my goodness I will NEVER be able to take care of 2 babies and I'm terrified I don't think we should have more babies but babies... are cute..." i.e. I'm all over the place (which makes sense. My baby is way too young to be thinking of more for me right now lol).

Man I can't type... so many typos. I'm losing my skillz! I'm so proud of myself. I actually logged food 3 days in a row (today's is total hooey though since we did a buffet. It's probably super wrong but I don't care lol).

@VeryKatie Thank you! =) I'm definitely hoping this is worth it. I don't do change very well. haha This job is for a customer service representative, they have a fancy title for it but that's what it is. haha. My last job was mostly clerical work.
Are you bouncing around the idea of being a stay at home mom or is that not something you guys would be able to do? I mostly ask because you said "so that I could be out of there ASAP" . Awesome job on logging 3 days in a row! That's great! =)

@nmpenneau6038 welcome to the group! Hopefully you can help yourself have a better experience with your second. We have a lot of different goals around here (some losing weight before trying, some trying to stay healthy while pregnant, some postpartum, and some trying to stay healthy while trying to conceive). I find the spreadsheet really helpful for accountability.

@VeryKatie that sounds so hard to decide! When are you supposed to go back to work after Keith again? Gotta say your leave makes me want to reproduce in Canada!

@WifiresGettingFit thanks for the info. I might look at the spreadsheet soon. I haven’t had a chance yet.

@VeryKatie life with a 21 month old is crazy. She is active and hates sleep. But I still love it. I’m also recently a stay at home Mom so that has presented new challenges I didn’t have before.

@pezhed Thanks for the info! I want two more but I had pre eclampsia and an emergency c section. I know losing weight isn’t guaranteed to prevent that but it’s helpful. I’m also 30 and want two more so I’ll probably use the spreadsheets for goals to hold myself accountable so that I can lose the weight more quickly, but still in a healthy way.

@WifiresGettingFit I feel like part time work would be the perfect fit for me. I am not homey enough to be a full stay at home (hate cooking and cleaning and know I'd not pull my weight). And I am going to be a giant stress ball if I work full time since house work was never 50/50 before we had Keith so I don't really expect things to change on that front. We could afford for me to stay home for 5 years pretty well... But we wouldn't be able to save at all during that time. Right now the plan is to go back full time and reduce hours/quit if I can't handle it or hate it.

@pezhed I go back August 14, which is actually 2 months late. My work has a policy that allows for 8 extra unpaid weeks off after parental leave stops. I think you SHOULD come reproduce (And live) in Canada haha. Because... even 12 months doesn't feel like enough time off to take care of a young baby.

@nmpenneau6038 what are you finding challenging about being a SAHM? If I go that route, I'd love to do it with my eyes open. My kiddo doesn't love sleep either lol. Totally get you there. He got better after I got him on a fairly strict schedule but still isn't the easiest. Not that I have other babies to compare to.
