This is a huge motivation. I want to be able to grocery shop or go to a museum. I have never used a wheelchair and the walking is too much for me. -chris1

I'm with you Abby. I don't like any of the clothes I can fit in -_- would be lovely to have more options!!0

I'm going to go for a baby step - I would looove to be able to just reach down and tie my darned shoe.2

On a big timescale I want to be able to donate a portion of my liver. On a smaller scale I want to fit into clothes from any shop I walk into. On a basic scale I want to make my children proud. Oh, and i want to sit on a garden chair and not fear it collapsing underneath me1

So update, I kind of did the thing I talked about. Thanks to the wonders of breast cancer I got the girls lifted & reduced in preparation for radiation. Insurance wouldn't cover a panniculectomy but it was a lifelong dream to have that hanging apron go bye-bye!1

I want to not worry about the weight limit on the rides next time our family goes to the water park. I want to not worry about who's sitting next to me on the plane since I always feel like I can't give them enough space, same thing at the ball park. I want be able to slide down the slide at the park with my students. I want to be able to shop wherever I want and not worry if a store carries my size.0

I want to hike again. There's a few local state parks with beautiful waterfalls, but you have to hike down several flights of stairs to see them. Last time I got down ok, but I almost couldn't get back up. I live nature and I want to be able to see it again.3

I want to ride a roller coaster ride with my son. I want to walk from the parking lot to my office without feeling like I'm going to pass out. I want to walk up a flight of stairs and not feel completely out of breath. I want to not worry about fitting into restaurant booths. I want to wear a bathing suit without a cover up and not be embarrassed. I want to be able to shop in a regular clothing stores. I want to cross my legs.

I want to go horseback riding. The weight limit is usually 230 and that's pushing it for the poor horse.
I also want to be able to ride rollercoasters again. I haven't been able to fit years.3 -
I want to be able to do running and jumping kicks in martial arts. I want to do more hiking. I want to wear a cute dress that's hanging in the back of my closet.2
-
I want to be able to easily tie my shoes and paint my toenails. I want to be able to shave my legs in the shower without throwing my back out.
I want to be able to comfortably fit in the desk-chairs at schools. I want to know people aren't seeing my weight as the first thing they notice about me. I want to know I can fit in any chair out there.
I want to be able to hike farther and longer. I want to be able to go to Disney World and not feel like my feet are going to fall off at the end of the day.
I want to be able to play basketball and ultimate frisbee with my son. I want to stop feeling like my sons and husband are embarrassed to introduce me to someone new because of my weight.
I want to shop outside of the plus section. I want to wear clothes that I love that represent my style instead of having to wear clothes that fit and really aren't "me." I want to be able to wear knee-high boots. I want to wear stilettos!
I want to walk into a doctors office without being terrified of what they're going to say about my weight. I want to know I'm the healthiest me that I can be.2 -
This sounds stupid but I've always wanted to wear a crop top. oh and walk upstairs and not feel like I'm walking Everest1
-
@itbritt29 I'd like to wear a crop top too, but I don't think that my stomach is going to look great by the end. At least I can walk up stairs now though! You should come over to the Feb. challenge room. We're all active in that thread here! Just make your own goal and jump right in! Welcome to the group!1

I want to be able to walk into a normal high street shop and pick up a size 12 (UK) knowing it will fit.
I want to be able to ride my horses again
I want to go to the theme park and have a great time and not worry i wont fit in the seats0 -
Wear a two piece bathing suit to show off my body & tattoos! I’m 24 and I have NEVER worn a two piece. 🥺0
-
I want to be able to see my two feet on the scale without having to lean over and push my stomach fat in.
And like several people have already mentioned, I want to be able to reach down and tie my own shoes. I currently loosely tie them first and then slip my feet in them. I hate loosely tied shoes.

I want to be able to get my knee surgery which my DR has said they will not do until I have lost at least 80 lbs and be able to to go concerts and festivals with my BF without a cane.0
-
I want to hike at a normal pace. I do hike now, but it is very slow.0
-
I want to be able to walk as long and as far as I would like. I think right now I can walk about 3, maybe 4 blocks. I want to go sightseeing and not have the first thing on my mind is can I find a chair to sit.0
-
I want to enter a 5K run - in a wheelchair, because I'm paraplegic. And I want to do some fresh water kayak fishing. Although I'm a paraplegic amputee I can still swim (albeit not attractively), but I'll have to be thin enough and athletic enough to replace myself atop the kayak if it flips.0
-
I want to get on an airplane and walk down the aisle without seeing the fear on other passenger's faces that I will end up sitting next to them.2
-
I want to run a half marathon. I want to be able to go on all the rides at 6 flags. I want to be flexible. I want to wear cool clothes and fit into all the halloween costumes. I want to be able to shop in normal stores.2

I would first and foremost like to be able to stop taking the blood pressure medications that I'm on.
I would also like to travel with my FH on business trips when he travels overseas (So thinking about flying a long time in a plane, not worrying about fitting into a seat and making the person next to me uncomfortable.
I want to also be able to be more active. FH and I were riding bikes around Mackinac Island in Michigan this past September when he proposed to me. It's an 8 mile circle around the island, mostly flat. There was one hill that I had to walk the bike up. I would like to be able to actually bike all over the island, since it's super hilly. I know right now I can't do it. A few years before that, we went to the Pictured Rocks in the UP of Michigan. There were LOTS of trails and I was disappointed in myself that I couldn't do half of what I had wanted...and they weren't even some of the longest hikes.
And it would be wonderful to be able to take the extra poundage off my knees. I just had surgery to clean up my meniscus in August.2 -
I want to be the smaller fat me I used to be, who never gave a second thought to participating in activities because I *might* not be able to do something, fit on/in something, etc. I want to be able to give our boys all the experiences I never had at their age, with parents who love to hike, swim, bike, skate, etc. It would be awesome to be able to shop at regular stores from a convenience/price/choice standpoint; I've never been able to do that as an adult.

I want to try skating and not be worried that if I fall it’ll make a scene and embarrass my kids. I also want to go hiking.1

Love these!! Do you have a list of places that would be your "dream" hikes?
For whatever it's worth, I'm pretty sure we embarrass our kids no matter what size we are (part of parenting lol), but I know what you mean. One thing I often think about, though, is this: is it better to let them see us try and fall (or fail) and risk embarrassment, or to never even try in the first place? I think about how many years I've spent not doing things because I might fail or not be good at something or people might judge me for doing whatever it was I was doing in this body instead of the body I "should" have (at least according to society's standards). Gosh, I've wasted an awful lot of time.
I loved skating when I was younger, and I can't do it now because of the shape my knees are in. It occurred to me recently that my husband doesn't know how to skate, so who will teach our boys? I need to figure out a way to get back to skating, so that I can teach them. I still hike, but much more slowly and not as on trails with the same level of difficulty as I used to when I was a smaller version of me.
Big hugs to you as we begin this Thursday. So glad you're here! Best, Tara

For years, I've desperately wanted to go horseback riding. I lived on a horse ranch as a girl (where my dad worked) and it's always been a dream of mine. I rode once or twice as a child...but it's something that would truly make me happy to pick up as an adult.1

In 2014, I did my first triathlon. I ended up in last place but I finished
. I would like to do another one or at least a duathlon (biking and walking).
I fell recently in the house and was not able to get up on my own. I had to call a neighbor. I want to be able to get up on my own.
I was born with bad knees so it hurts to kneel. But exercise helps them from not going out of place. I would like to be balance and have strong knees.
I would like to travel, go to amusement parks and ride the rides, sit in a booth at a restaurant comfortably, take dancing classes, whitewater rafting, canoeing, hiking, zip line, horseback riding, walking on the beach and several others.

@balhoff You are awesome! Keep up the good work! I'm sure you'll knock out some of those goals soon!0 -
Hi, I'm new. I want to do all the simple things. Sit in a booth at a restaurant, ride a roller coaster, cross my legs, ride my bike (it has a weight limit), run, be confident in a bathing suit, not be the biggest person in the picture, play at the park with my son without having to take a break every 2 minutes. Just live life without my fat getting in the way. Today is day 2.1
