NOVEMBER Monthly Challenge

So the Challenge heads into those really difficult months of celebrations and holidays...........
A new challenge month but the old spreadsheet.
So don't look for a new one of those, but continue to post your weight on the 'Keto Monthly Challenge Spreadsheet' which Nikki will update as needed. You can obviously also post your weight in this post and many do.
For anyone new out there; feel very welcome to join, we usually post our weigh Sundays and use the 'Keto Monthly Challenge Spreadsheet' also in 'Announcements' to track weight.
We use this thread to encourage each other and to add our weight as well if we want to and generally chat!
It's fun and it's been working and we've lost a shed load of weight between us. It seems to keep us going and even if we go up occasionally (and who doesn't!) we get back to it and continue the journey.
So here we go again, good luck in November.
Sunday 11/04
Sunday 11/11
Sunday 11/18
Sunday 11/25
To finish the month off:
Friday 11/30
Good luck to everyone, welcome to everyone new and well done the old faithfuls!!

November officially starts the eating frenzy season for me and many of you. Dinners, parties and seasonal goodies/temptations lurk around every corner in my world. Pumpkin spice treats, Peppermint Mochas, Carmel Apples and Turkey gravy piled on everything nonketo friendly are just a few of the kryptonite’s that threaten my inner-keto-superman.
That said November is going to be the restart of something big for me. I’m going to don my keto shield to fight off my cravings and temptations. I want to use these last two months of the year to spring board me into next year fit, healthy and ready to make 2019 the best year ever. Bring it on November.
I keto

It also starts to get cold which makes it a bit harder to get out of bed at 4:30 to run. Maybe a challenge is what I need.1

My goal for November is to be on a work out schedule of 3 times a week by the end of the month. I am horrible at working out. Ugh. I put down a goal weight but honestly, I’m more worried about just starting to tone and get stronger.2 -
I'm in! 11/30 is my birthday and I have a pic from a year ago that I want to compare this year to! I am aiming for 8lbs... I wont be cooking this year for Thanksgiving...so I know I wont break for that...my bday is another story, but it will be after the weigh-in...so not so bad!
@rsclause - I envy you! I have a hard time getting up at 5am to go to the gym, let alone go running! Good job!4 -

I always do all of the cooking for all of the holidays, so I know I can make some keto swaps, and make a few things like fathead dinner rolls to help me stay the course.
I work for the regional food bank, and we get invited to all the church suppers, and usually have to speak, thanking the volunteers, presenting checks, etc...this is what might do me in: good, yeoman church ladies with their crockpots brimming with Southern cooking! I'll have to be strategic!

I will post my weigh in tomorrow when I get on the scale which I have been avoiding because I have been eating poorly. I know I have gained because my clothes are getting tighter...ugh. Gaining any more weight is not an option - I got rid of my other clothes.
My schedule is absolutely insane and my stress level is through the roof. At this point I am just barely hanging on and trying to put one foot in front of the other because 'checking out' is not an option. My husband travels for work, I work, I am currently taking classes to further my career....and we have 4 kids. If I stop juggling, a lot of plates fall. Taking care of myself has to be a priority; it is very difficult to make it fit sometimes!! Congratulations to those in the same boat who are making it happen!
I felt super motivated recently and ready to make strides again and then I got blind-sided with life. I do have my November goals in mind, but will post them with my weigh in as I contemplate how I will stick to them so I don't disappoint myself again.
Every day is a new opportunity to make better decisions!5 -

If you are following Keto strictly, wine is not 'Keto'. If you are doing relaxed or 'lazy' keto, many people think if it fits into your macros it is okay. It's all up to how strictly you are adhering to the plan you have chosen to follow and your body.
My experience with Keto has been that once I am fat adapted, a couple of glasses of wine on one day does not hinder my progress, but I still have to consider the other macros for that day and exercise accordingly as well. But fat adaptation can take several weeks of strict keto and I don't know what plan you are following and how long you have been doing it.
It also depends on what level of deprivation you are wanting to commit to - lol. I still wanted to be able to enjoy some things on holidays and events so I would plan accordingly. For that, it was helpful to research fat adaptation, carb cycling and calorie cycling.
I saw a lot of progress; have been 'off the wagon' recently, but getting back on now. The key is figuring out what works for you. Some peoplecan have alcohol, dairy and artificial sweeteners in moderation and it is fine. Others have to cut it all out to see results. I would cut those things when I hit a plateau or the results weren't fast enough for my liking.
Good luck!2 -

@rsclause, I hear you, I’m starting to run again. I’ve ran in a couple half marathons but they were 5/6 years ago. My daughter and I are planning to do one in June of 2019 so I’m starting now, lol. The previous ones were in Las Vegas so I didn’t have to train in the COLD, lol.0

I'm definitely in this month. I hold myself accountable more if I know that I'm going to be weighing in every week. Helps me make better choices. Also, I don't like Thanksgiving foods, so I have no reason to really deviate or cheat. I'm trying to keto-fy my entire TG meal, and whatever my family doesn't want, they can make the 'real' food for themselves. Ha!

Damnit... I finally broke to 162.5 on Tuesday, and thought maybe that was the start of a decline, as I have not lost weight in over three weeks (hit 163 on 09 October). I started IFing Saturday (Sat, Sun, Mon, Wed, today), but I'm starting November at 163. Like... WTF?! It's like I will never get out of the mid-160s, which is where I've spent the majority of my time over the past few years. Every time I try to lose weight, it's like some eternal struggle to get below 163. 162.5 felt like a victory, but it was incredibly short-lived.
I have also lost ZERO inches over the last full month! Not getting losses on the scale OR inches is so, . Macros are 1350 calories, 98g fat, 101g protein, 20g net carbs. I do muay thai a few times a week, though just once last week and once this week due to work and last night's class cancelled for Halloween.
Anyway, I stopped eating at 8pm last night, and plan to fast until 11:30. I know that's just short of the usual 16 hour fast (two days I went for 18 hours!), but I have five work meetings today, and 11:30 is when I have time (I need to not be hangry at these). Fingers crossed November goes better than October.0 -

I agree with everything you said and will add, that when a body is in Ketosis, alcohol becomes much more potent - so, be mindful. I had several glasses of wine the other night when I hadn't eaten dinner and boy, did that hit me hard.1 -

Here for another month...WOOHOOOOOOO! I'm working on shedding the lbs I allowed myself during October.
Looking forward to the holiday season. This is my favorite time of year.
Nov 1st - 177.03 -
Started Keto: May 9, 2018
Starting Weight: 210.4
(Loss of 25” and 24.6 Lbs!)
Next goals:
10/19 - 185 - SUCCESS!!! On the 18th I saw 185.8 for the first time since Aug 2016! Then on the morning of the 19th my body surprised me by dropping to 184.8!!! I’m so very happy!
12/17 - 175 - changing this to 179 as 175 seems unrealistic with my body’s current trajectory. I’ve been plateaued for quite a while.
1/01 - 179 (My goal is to not gain over Christmas!)
Ultimate Goal Weight: 145
End of October weight: 10/28 - 184.8! I’ve been holding steady at this weight for nearly 3 weeks now. At least it’s not gone up! But I would have liked to see 183.8. Lol. This month for sure! I’ve been a very good girl. No cheating in 21 days! The weight has to start moving soon.
Last year at this time I completely feel off the weight loss wagon and from November 1st to Jan 30 I gained 20 lbs. I’ve worked so hard this year to get that weight off and now my goal is to keep it off!!! No Christmas treats for me!!! My treat will be stepping on that scale in January and knowing I had the willpower needed to continue on my healthy journey!
I’ve changed my weigh ins to Thursday’s now:
Nov. 1st - 184.8
Nov. 8th -
Nov. 15th -
Nov. 22nd -
Nov. 29th -4 -
Howdy, all! I'm going to weigh in from start to finish the whole month, not just on the Sundays. I have cautious hope that I will break through the 50s this month even with the holidays. I was able to walk for several days this week and that made the scale move quite nicely. October numbers look like I lost 5 pounds for the month, but 4 of those were gained in my travels. They shed off and then some more so I'm very happy with the progress. I'm beginning to be able to wear some clothes that I haven't fit into for a few years and that's VERY encouraging! I'm not especially fashion-minded since I work from home, so yeah, I don't mind wearing old clothes. Not having worn them since 2013 they are new now!

I started Keto to reverse my Type II Diabetes. In that area I've already seen great success. Just 30 days in and my blood glucose is down 30+ pts and I'm consistently in the normal range when I check! Hooray!
Sadly, my weight loss has stalled/reversed. I was seeing the scale go down (slowly but surely) the first 2 weeks, then I got a stomach bug and lost my appetite for a week - hardly ate anything. Now my weight is creeping UP, and I'm nearly back to my starting weight! WHY?! I'm eating the same way I did the first 2 weeks, I'm in ketosis, my blood sugar is good... so I'm a bit perplexed. Do you think I reset my metabolism or something?
I'm super happy about the blood glucose results, but really hoped I'd have some exciting weight loss as well. Any ideas on how I can kick start this thing again and get things moving back in the right direction?1 -
It's my goal this month to get below 200 lbs. As of this morning, my weight is the lowest it's been since the spring of 2015! Thankfully we got Thanksgiving over with here in Canada in October, lol.

Firstly great news about the blood sugars, that's the best and most important bit. Your weight will go down, lots of us stick about the same weight for a while and suddenly do a 'wooosh!' of a pound or so. Just make sure you aren't having too much fat. what we are aiming to do is turn our bodies into 'fat burners' and not glucose burners which is what keto does but the fat we want it to burn is the stuff on our butts not fat you add to your meals! That being said you do need some but it's the low carb and the protein that are the key. Mainly you will get the fat you need through your meat, eggs cheese etc. Stick with it, it will work.4 -
Hello All,
I'm new at Keto and new at this challenge. I'm excited to see the scale change so drastically. I've been sticking to less than 1200 calories and less than 20g of Carbs. I plan to start working out. Any tips is greatly appreciated.

Hi all! I am finally back after traveling for most of October. It's been a tough few months. I regained a lot of my weight over the last 2-3 months, and recommitted myself in October but since I was out of the country for a bit, sticking to Keto wasn't always possible. That's okay, though. I had an amazing time traveling and the food was great and the people were great.
That being said, it's nice to be home and back to my routine and cooking for myself... except that I am traveling AGAIN! haha. This time only to San Diego and just for a week to visit friends (and I can cook my own meals here). I won't have any problems staying keto here. I don't have access to a scale so I weighed in yesterday before leaving.
Have a great November everyone!

I’m officially starting my keto reboot today, 11/3.
My longest keto streak was 7.5 months. I was way off track for the past two weeks and I know how that happened and what to avoid this time. With keto I have reversed my T2D, but I also want to have success with losing weight & changing my body comp. This time, my goal is to track and know where I stand with my macros instead of just doing lazy keto.
Reboot SW: 265

Start 184 pounds Sept 2017
I'd crept into my maintained 30 pounds off over the past month or so with one thing or another happening, mainly the wrong food and drink going in too frequently! This week I've been back to more of a normal life and have almost unpacked all the boxes! The only odd thing is that after living in an hotel for 6 weeks I'm now joining my husband for breakfast most mornings even though we are home, I've never been a breakfast person but what's not to like about bacon, egg and sausage!

I started IFing this past week to try and break my three week stall at 163, and it's paid off! Yesterday I was 162, and 160 today! I can't remember the last time I dropped two pounds at once! I even moved my scale from the bathroom tile to the wood floor and weighed again to make sure it wasn't playing a trick (anyone else do that?).
So yeah, 22 pounds to go! I plan to keep IFing most days for 16-18 hours and closely watching my macros. Fingers crossed I can say goodbye to the 160s by next week!9
