Hello Team Run Track Minds and Welcome to December!!
My name is Tracy @tlgale I will be your captain for this month.
A little about myself...I started my weight loss journey a year ago this month and am now 58.4lbs lighter! I still have a long way to go yet though, about 80lbs. I had a few months where I was falling back into old habits, but I managed to turn it around in November. I'm typically an emotional eater (all emotions, good or bad) but I've been reminding myself (multiple times a day) that I control what I put in my mouth...not my emotions. My goal for December is just to keep a downward trend, no set amounts.
I have a 4 year old son with spastic quad CP and his different abilities and needs are my main motivation for wanting to get the weight off. As he grows and gets heavier, I need to shrink and get stronger!!
Please feel free to introduce yourselves and share your goals for the month as well.
We are going to be running a (Optional) Mini-Challenge this month: Daily Posts/Ultimate Accountability
First and foremost is that participation in the challenge is optional. It's up to you as to whether you want to try this. If you don't want to participate in these challenges, you don't have to, the choice is yours, but I would like to encourage you to participate as it seems to help keep us on track and thinking about our goals on a daily basis and it's encouraging to see other's successes and struggles so that we realize that we are not alone!!
The Daily Posts Challenge is based on another challenge on MFP called UAC (ultimate accountability challenge). The way UAC works is that the aim is to follow 5 basic rules.
#1. Track EVERYTHING you eat that has calories.
#2. Stay inside your allocated daily budget.
#3. Try to do at least 20 minutes of activity a day (anything: walk, run, cycle, swim, gardening, housework, yoga, gym, etc.. As long as it gets you active and off the couch)
#4. 1 pass day permitted per week (went over calories, could not track, not enough exercise, intentional pass)
#5. Check in daily (tracking yes/no, calories yes/no, exercise yes/no).
**REMEMBER**
You set your own daily budget.
You choose you own exercise and intensity (no step limit, no exercises you cannot or should not do, 20 mins of gardening counts as much as a 10mile run.
It is not weight based (as weight fluctuates day by day).
Daily check in keeps you in touch with those doing similar. Longer term weight management is hard to do on your own.
It works on an honor system. Being honest with yourself and others is a key to making things work. Remember, this is a judgement free zone, everyone has good days and bad days, but the way to get to the finish line is by being honest and when we have a bad day, picking ourselves up and carrying on.
Your posts should look like this:
Daily Post (Sunday)
Track: Yes/no
Calories: Yes/no (were you under)
Exercise: Yes/no (what type and how long)
Goals or Day: (Tell us a brief description about your how your day went or goals for the day)
Please post your weight on your scheduled weigh in day, as if you miss weigh-ins, you may be eliminated from the challenge and we don't want to see that happen!!
Your weekly weigh in posts should look like this:
Username:
Week: February Week 1
PW =(previous weight)
CW=(current weight)
Just type PW & CW if you'd like (or if it's easier, you could keep a note on your PC desktop to make it easier to copy and paste from week to week.)
Please setup your posts in that format as it really makes it much easier to track.
Welcome to December! It's going to be a tough one with the holidays, but we've all got this!!5 -

@geekyfella Welcome to the team!! Definitely a tough month to start, but I think it's going to feel that much more rewarding to lose this month4 -
Sometimes you’ve just got to take the bull by the horns. That’s what December is about for me - facing things absolutely head on.5

Hi, my name is Rob from England. I have been in this group for several months now and looking forward to a testing december. i spend a lot of time in the car which isnt helping my progress. i am looking at reducing calories to 1800 this month and see how this helps with the training. im starting to get some distance in my training, but doing things wrong i guess ,which is why progress has slowed i guess. never mind its a new month and i am sure between us we will all achieve great things.
good luck to all new and team mates from previous months.
Rob

Hello everyone 😊 This is my first time in this group. I have tried and failed dieting so many times I am getting ashamed. But I am here now and I think this will help me be accountable and motivated. I need all the help I can get.4

@redrob1966 good to be here with you buddy. Fellow Brit here. Whilst I may not do a lot of driving, I spend all day sat in the chair in my home office. Weather ain’t ideal for getting out walking etc at the moment but you be safe out there on those roads.
@HaCee75 get rid of the feelings of shame - they’re counterproductive. Just focus on on one day at a time and be proud of the little changes you make.
Have a fab day, folks.6 -

@HaCee75 Welcome to the team!! I completely agree with what @geekyfella said, don't feel ashamed...you're definitely not the only person to try a million times, I know I have. Also, I would stop thinking diet and start thinking lifestyle change. Diets are always associated with cutting out everything and anything you like..a lifestyle change sounds more like enjoying things in moderation. I know if I want something, I'll have it, as long as it fits into my calorie goal!4 -

@tlgale Thank you so much 😊 lifestyle change does sound a lot better! I am so excited to be on this team 😁3 -
Hi! My name is Lori💖 This isn’t my first time on MFP or attempting to change my unhealthy lifestyle. However, I’m starting new and trying again! I have tried this challenge once before and struggled to stay accountable- that’s why I am so happy this is the theme! I am looking forward to chatting with people and hopefully staying motivated and lose some weight! Please feel free to add me if you want ❄️😊4

@fitlori2019 Hi Lori, welcome to the team!!
I hope we can help you stay accountable to reach your goals I'd reccomend giving the daily posts a try, they seem to work well, I know they do for myself anyway!1 -
Hey team. So, we’re away. It’s December. Saturdays have always been a struggle for me. I have a lot of running around to do and would have normally grabbed some junk in the morning and just allowed myself to go downhill from there. Today, that’s not going to happen. Where I would have usually popped to McDonald’s - I know - don’t judge - I just grabbed a tuna sandwich on brown bread. A small change in habit but a big one for me. I’m very much a creature of habit but I resisted.
I’m going to try to go for a walk later on and wish I could get to the gym but unfortunately commitments mean that I can’t. I had the weekend planned out - going for a long walk in the hills- but alas that’s not going to happen. It’s going to be all about counting the calories today.
Good luck all and keep your chin up. If anyone needs encouragement, feel free to drop me a line.3 -
Howdy all.
I'm new to posting about myself, so here we go. My weight loss challenge started on 02/05/2018, my heaviest @ 244.8lbs. Now, I am at 223.1lbs and would love to be at 200 by 03/01/2019.
My weight loss has stalled @ 220-223, so im hoping that this group will help me to stay accountable to reach my 200lbs goal.
Good luck to everyone. Lets CRUSH this month!!!3 -
Hello everyone,
I am new to this thread, a little about myself....I decided to change my diet on 11/30/2018 reason being I gradually have gained 30 lbs. I want to lose the weight and keep it off once and for all. My starting weight is 199.6lbs and my goal weight is at least 140-150. Hopefully being on this team will motivated me to keep on track.
Good luck everyone!!!!2 -
We've got this!!!

Morning team. 7am here on a Sunday morning. Why am I up? Who knows, but I am. That said, I do love mornings. Gotta confession to make... I had too much to drink last night. Food intake was right where it needs to be but then I had a G&T, and then another, so I’m a little concerned about that. I think liquid calories might actually be my main issue. Nothing tonight and then get the weigh in done tomorrow and see what the scales say. They don’t lie, so it will indicate to me how much of a difference knocking the alcohol on the head will have. Have a great day everyone, and keep focussed.1

@geekyfella Great job skipping on the McDonald's! It's definitely my favorite fast food, even though I know it's horrible for me, so no judgement here.0 -

@geekyfella Alcohol is a hard one, so many calories per drink! Maybe try saving a few calories some days so that you can have a drink without going over calories? Or on a day when you've worked out really hard and have earned a good drink?!!! I use to drink a lot of my calories, but in Pepsi! I was drinking about a 2lt a day so I switched to diet, but last month gave it up for the most part completely...I found it was triggering cravings for junk food.
Hopefully you figure out what works for you0 -
How about an ice breaker to get the month started?
A random fact about myself: I wear flats (flat slipper type shoes) pretty much all year round. No matter how cold, wet or snowy it gets..which is most of the time where I live (Newfoundland Canada).
What is a random fact about everyone else??

Would anyone like to volunteer to be co-captain and help me out for the month?0
-
I’m more than happy to help you out in anyway that will work.0
-
Random fact about me? Erm, let me think. I’m going dangerously grey. It seems to get worse and worse but I refuse to touch hair dye. Not for me, I’m afraid. Newfoundland? Fab. My old man once built an oil rig out there.0

@geekyfella Thank you for volunteering! I'm sending you a PM now.1 -
Hey all! I'm Lindsay.🙂1

I posted yesterday but I guess it didn't take. It posted to the other two challenges I'm doing. I hope it doesn't count against me. Yesterday I was way below my calorie goal. I did power walking at the mall while shopping but slowed down the last 30 minutes because my feet hurt. A total of 70 minutes. I weighed yesterday but went a head and re-weighed this morning. I'm officially in a new numbers bracket!!! So excited!1

Hi Lindsay. Power walking ‘til your feet hurt? Wow. That’s great. I just try that tomorrow. I don’t have a mall around here but I have fields and some great views. Nice to have you on board with us. My weigh in is tomorrow. Not looking forward to it 🙈0

@SouthernMamaUnderConsruction Welcome to the team!! I didn't see anything from you yesterday so yeah I guess for some reason it didn't post. I do quite a bit of walking around the mall myself, but usually at a leisurely pace lol. Good job using it as an opportunity for a nice work out0 -

I didn’t. I’m sorry. I wonder if I’m having a problem with PM’s actually. App is acting a little odd this evening.
