lindamtuck2018 wrote: »@Beka3695 sounds like a lovely weekend. I keep saying I am going to let my hair go natural grey but I chicken out every time. My daughter keeps encouraging me to do it. I was brave a cut a lot off it though. Yours looks lovely.
I've never dyed my hair, so have grey/silver speckled throughout my dark brown hair. But the thing I want to do - and will one day - but haven't yet had the courage to do yet, is get it cut really short. I'm a low-maintenance person and I only visit the hairdressers like once every year or two - I currently get it cut into a bob in between ear and shoulder length (it tends to be cut shoulder length, but the curl in the hair bounces it up), and then I just leave it as it grows until it feels too long and difficult to manage. Because there is so long between hair cuts it is always a lot that gets cut off, and this year I found some photos of people with dark brown curly hair like mine in very short pixie-ish cuts and took them with me to the hairdresser to ask their advice... the look the hairdresser gave me was pretty horrified and she cautioned "once you cut it off you can't put it back on! Better to do it slow, bit by bit"... so I chickened out and went with the usual bob!
I have a friend I hadn't seen for a while, and she is now rocking a short natural grey haircut. I complimented her on it because it looks awesome and I was thinking "I wish I was that brave" and initially she thought I was kidding because it is the first time she's gone natural and super short and she didn't do it because of looks - her daughter was raising money for a charity, and she decided she would donate all the money she was spending on regularly going to the hairdressers, and she just used some clippers at home to shave her hair really short (I saw it when it had grown out a bit), so she doesn't realise how awesome her hair looks to me because it's not what she really "likes" aesthetically.
I think hair is one of those "the grass is always greener" scenarios, where we always like other people's hair more than our own!
Love your hair @Beka3695! It looks glamourous, like what they do with some actresses hair in movies, so no wonder those young people thought it was all by design!2 -
More hair talk...mental fitness, not physical
I had it cut pretty short in early September. It has JUST got long enough to pull back in a teeny pony tail nub. I have really been missing the pony tail!
I have two pixie rocking friends that are trying to get me to pixie it. Since I just got back to the ponytail stage - I have decided not to pixie.
My last color date was 2/24/19. I really thought this process would take about a year. Now I realize it might be two 🤦🏻♀️.
I find myself sitting at traffic lights looking at my silver. I am really loving it!3 -
@Beka3695 It will look awesome. I have not dyed my hair in over 30 years, I started speckled and now I have nice gray streaks, people ask where I get my hair colored, I said I don't. People claim to be organic but still dye their hair, dyeing your hair is letting your body absorb tons of terrible chemicals and expensive. Good job Beka, yoiu rock and your hair and body will thank you.

The first couple months are really annoying. I won’t say hard. Having a broken leg is hard. Growing out your hair is annoying. I used a root touch up spray for a couple months. That helped with early transition. Now, the line is less defined and not as harsh. Also, I have had months to get used to the difference.
Even though I’m just 43 - I swear if I’m offered a senior discount I will take it!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣4 -

Weigh In Wednesday:

PW: 217

This will be the number I'll be using til Jan... I won't actually weigh in til then because well, next "weigh in day" would be Christmas Day, and I won't even be thinking about weight except how much it will be going up after all the eating, LOL. Jan 1 is a Wednesday so this should work out nicely for me.
This weekend will be spent making a lot of goodies, and I am excited! I really enjoy just the festive feeling of it! And also wrapping gifts - no one seems to like wrapping gifts but I love it!
Hard to believe it's a week til Christmas isn't it?! Monday is the 23rd which is kind of awkward. A full normal day and then the holidays.5 -

Good afternoon everyone!
Please accept my apologies for my absence this month. It has been chaos at work preventing me from doing basically anything (Found out on 12/2 that instead of sitting back doing my job I would be training as they were splitting our class...meaning 12+ hour days at my day job and still working my night job each night).
Things are finally settling down...for now. If you guys would still have me, I would love to still participate.
Even through the chaos, lack of sleep, and extra work ...

Love everyone's "natural" hair! I have a friend who did it last year. Her hairdresser begged her to ler her awesome silver hair grow out. All the young girls compliment her at work and ask her where she gets her color done. My hair is only speckled with grey when I don't dye it.2

I missed my weigh-in last week due to illness. I'm beginning to feel better.

PROUD MOMENT
I have to share with you my story from yesterday. I had a very loose meal plan for the day in my head only. I came to work and found leftovers from our Tuesday Christmas party. I did well until about 11 am - then the shortbread cookies called out... They YELLED OUT! The only way to quiet them was to eat them. I ate 7 totaling 560 calories!! YIKES!!! WTH? I was in the caloric red for the day. Ice soup for dinner??
I had very few steps in. I started walking around my house - doing my regular evening chores. I decided to try to offset the cookies and get back in the green. I DID!!! I achieved 311 exercise calories and made it back to green!
I was able to have real food for dinner - a HUGE plate of raw veggies and watered down Hidden Valley Ranch light for a total of 171 calories! I ended the day in the green with 38 calories to spare
The biggest add to this was the pride I felt when my husband said he was proud of me.
I am sharing this because my head has been everywhere EXCEPT on weight loss lately. I feel like this is step one getting me back in the game. Step 2 - real meal planning for today. I pre-logged my entire day before going to bed last night. I have stuck to it 100% thus far. Also, I feel like I have overestimated for dinner. I will likely be shaving a some calories there! Nerd sheet will make a reappearance come 2020!!!10 -

MOTIVATION
I have been chatting with my daughter's step mom about a joint baby shower gift.
We were discussing a Rocker/recliner. I looked at the one online that she wants - it has a weight limit of 225lbs.
Technically, I should not currently sit in it.... guess I need to get a move on!2 -

Not upset by this at all. Water weight from Wednesday night when we ate out for my Granddaughters Birthday. Christmas Eve and Day are going to be the next kickers. I saw my dietician on Wednesday and he said not to get freaked out by the scales the next few weeks. I want to enjoy myself without going overboard. So I expect the next two weigh ins may have a gain. I log everyday but I am not logging Christmas Eve and Day.
Also saw my doctor on Wednesday and he decreased one of the medications I was on. I don’t get how they ramp you up on these meds in a few days but it takes months to decrease them. He also took me off another medication who’s side effect is not weight gain but contributes to the drowsiness. It is looking up guys.
