Welcome to Day 2 of the UAC and the second day of 2020.
My wife Rose and I, spend a lot of time during the winter in the northern hemisphere in Phoenix, Arizona.
Yesterday was our first day back in Arizona.
We hiked in the Saguaro National Park. Saguaro cactus are only found in the Sonoran desert. I’ll post more photos below21 -

Day 2 and all completed.
Leslie Sansom Walk workout - 35 mins
Stayed within my calorie count - thanks to cauliflower fried rice
Recorded everything I ate9 -
@RangerRickL That's brilliant! Thank you for those photos, we have nothing like that here (Australia) so those are thrilling! And I promise no Wile. E. Coyote jokes9

2 January all done!
Exercise yes - 15 mins on the treadmill, 15 mins on a bike and walked to and from the gym. Plus worked out the arms again. No need to work out the legs, I've been accidentally doing that for years!
Calories - Yes, waaaay under today for some reason, to the point MFP yelled at me and I had to eat an apple. Good problem to have I guess!
Tracked - Yes
Also, at 119.9 kg (264.3lbs) I'm at my second mini goal today! Which means MFP stole 70 calories a day from me so another 'good' problem to have :P12 -
Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes?
Yup. My fitbit strangely showed no active minutes so I did this seated workout
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day?
Sure did - and with a little something to spare. Happy about that as I did a LO cal day yesterday but didn't feel any hungrier today.
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank?
Every morsel. Are WFPB today, and weighed everything as I cooked, using the recipe function. Focused on IRON today - but will have a supplement tomorrow as I was not able to quite hit 100%.8 -

Exercised?: Yes (6 km walk in 46 mins)
Calories?: Yes
Tracked?: Yes
Late walk, so decided to go a slightly longer route. Still kept up a reasonable pace.
Up and down day for daughter today. Still a day by day proposition, thankful not a really down day.
Fire season here in Australia is concerning at the moment. It is worse than in living record.
Thoughts are with those in the highest risk areas, and those who have already lost homes and livelihoods.
@RangerRickL . Great photos.

There was a great post by @Dory_42My best New Year meme was one with two people. I can't post pictures from my phone so will describe it.
Person 1: Something about how terrible everything is and so much is messed up.
Person 2: I think 2020 will bring flowers.
Person 1: Why do you think that?
Person 2: Because I'm planting flowers.
Obviously there are many things out of our control coming this year, but most of the changes will be because we did something about it and or attitude to what happens. And you don't have to wait for something to react to it. Decide repeatedly to be positive and look for the best in a situation and you will stay to do that.
What flowers are people planning on planting for 2020?

How's this, @Dory_42?
Flowers I'm planting: I'm going to be at the gym more, weigh and measure my food even more faithfully, and continue to be kind to myself. I was telling a friend that I believe being kind to myself was a huge part of the success I had in 2019. I didn't beat myself up when I fell, I didn't quit, and I didn't continue on the destructive path as I used to do. I got up, brushed myself off, and continued on my goal of reaching my goal weight.
Stay safe, @craigo3154!
Great photos, @RangerRickL!! Thanks for posting!

Glad to join in again. Last year I lost 5 lbs easily in one month just sticking to the rules, convinced it works!

Yip, that one. Thank you.
Good day for me again. Morning yoga and a bunch of errands done then a quiet evening at home. Good food choices and even though we went to the shops, I only bought what I needed, no unnecessary spending.
My flowers for the year are getting my routines back that I lost last year with injury and surgery etc. With those back in place I know I will get the strength and fitness back and drop the extra weight I picked up.
Also saving for a couple of trips planned for 2021.9 -
2nd January
A good day, although I ran out of steam and energy around mid-afternoon. Instead of forcing myself to keep going, I had a rest, lying on my bed, reading.
Exercise: Yes, 45 minute Stretching class and 45 minutes walking.
Calories: Yes, stayed under.
Tracking: Yes, logged everything.
Took care of my cultural needs and went to the cinema, beautiful film about Chinese family and society (I lived and worked there for a few years). I took my partner, but he got hopelessly confused. I managed to briefly explain the main theme without getting exasperated. Hopefully I'm planting seeds of patience and compassion. The flowers will bloom for both of us. ..10 -
3x’s yes! An hour of spin class where I really pushed hard. Everything weighed, measured and logged.
I am going back to a tighter calorie plan after a couple of months of eating back exercise calories. I’ve put on a lot of muscle and I want to focus on losing the last bit of flab.
It is taking a lot of effort and will power to get back into calorie restrictive mode.
In my personal life I’m planting seeds to achieve maintenance this year.
In my community my goal is to add on to my volunteer work. I want to establish a local beautification committee for some small parks and gardens around my village as well as seasonal decorating. I strongly believe it is these small things that strengthen our community. Literally planting flowers.15 -
Weigh in this morning: 78kg
Food: under calories
Tracked: every bite
Excerise: smartwatch in at just over 6000 steps. Ideally 10,000 on a usual day.
Slowly but surely.8 -

On track for day 2 of 2!
I've been worried lately that my usual meals don't provide enough fiber, so before bed last night I tried pre-planning by first identifying fiber-rich items I could include, then building the remainder of the meal around them. That was a great idea, because the new constraint (emphasize fiber) made me get creative, and I've come up with a batch of ideas that I'm excited about. I made two today that were quite tasty to me, and I have a few more new ideas to implement over the next few days.
Planting seeds... hmm. I read an article today about cutting back added sugar. I do that personally, but I've not been good at monitoring my kids' added sugar consumption, and apparently kids should have only 3 tsps (12 grams) of added sugar per day. I talked to my little dudes about this, and they understand the concept, and throughout the day we talked about how much added sugar was in X or Y food item. Today we did a lot of, "no, we've already had X, so Y is too much added sugar, but if you want something sweet, you can have an orange or berries...."
They're old enough to understand, and I think it's important for them to learn how to evaluate what's healthy or not, but I'm not sure if I've planted a beautiful flower here or a future eating disorder. Really hoping for the flower!12 -
Yes to all three!7

@LesIckaBod I had to laugh at your future eating disorder comment. It is hard to be a parent. I have talked to my kids about healthy eating & recently told my son that he can diet however he chooses but make sure to eat protein a certain number of grams of protein every day (he wants a visible 6 pack). fingers crossed that we are doing the right things... I just know I am doing my best.6

Interesting day today ...
Ever feel like you don't know who to believe? Even though this was extremely discouraging to see this morning and could have possibly derailed me from continuing with my fitness goals, it did not.
The first two photos in the spoiler are snippets from an email I received from my fitness center. I have blocked out their name. After I emailed Tivity (through my insurance) to find out why they removed this fitness center from their program, I received the email in the third photo. Why didn't my former fitness center just be truthful and say "we're not making enough money from these memberships" or something like that. This is the same organization that pulled Silver Sneakers from their membership and all those folks had to find somewhere else to go for their fitness pursuit.
After receiving the confirmation from Tivity in a phone call that indeed they were not the ones who canceled the membership I had with this fitness center, I called PF and have an appt. tomorrow morning to join. Tivity also was kind enough to cut my monthly membership fee in half for three months to give me time to find another gym I'm comfortable with.
Onward and upward toward the prize! 🏆
