I took a nice long walk in the morning, my husband joined me for a 2nd in the afternoon. His back has been bothering him, so we need to walk a bit slower and not so long... but he did great! I think the walking is helping to easy the pulled muscles in his back. He keeps overdoing stuff, then pays for it for the next few days.
I was so happy to get some long walks in over the 3 day holiday... now need to keep up the momentum! My plan is to walk 40 mins in the morning before heading off to work, and then another 20 after dinner with hubby.
Anyone else have some goals (besides weight loss) that they are working on?
Ok, so for real: my goal is to not eat chips/pretzels (way too many of those going on!) and instead focus on healthier snack alternatives (string cheese, yogurt and fruit, veggies and hummus). I also want to "close" my food diary each day.4 -

My chiro told me I have to stop walking more than ABSOLUTELY necessary until we get my spine sorted out so that was news I didn't need when I am trying to lose weight... but it is better than long-term pain and the other possible consequences.
Just feeling a bit frustrated today.2 -

I don't have spine issues, however I do have arthritis in both hips, and sometimes this develops into bursitis. I had to stop bowling or any extra walking for about 2 months... I had to quit our bowling league, this really stung, I love bowling! Then, a week later, due to Covid-19, the bowling alley closed. So now I have had many more weeks of giving my hips a rest, this did the trick, feeling much better, and am now back to my daily walks. For me, I just had to give it time.
What plans does your chiro have to get you back to walking without pain?1 -

I have a three-visit per week, 3-month plan to get me "stable". Right now I can't even breathe too hard without extreme pain taking my breath away, because the majority of spine is compressed, so the vertebrae are squeezing tons of nerves and causing lots of inflammation/scar tissue. In the 3rd month, she anticipates I can resume "gentle" exercise but even most of that is to be focused on core strength. So likely 3-4 months before I can resume cardio of any kind.
I can still watch my eating which is HUGE for me so I am sure I will still see progress... just not as quickly as I would like. But my mom was in a wheelchair 80% of the time by age 40 and I don't want to be in that position so I'd rather take the time now to fix my junky back lol1 -

I am so sorry to hear this; I am sure that is VERY frustrating! Ugh! I am glad you have a plan and a goal/vision...that will help you so much, to be able to focus big picture-mobility!
I agree with about food being 80%...even more! So, i guess one way to see it is as a chance to focus on learning to make great food choices. I will be thinking about you!1 -

Honestly I think I needed another gain to truly see that my habits matter and need to change. they are making me feel bad and I don't want that. So, while I wish I hadn't gained weight this month, I needed to see the consequences of my actions in a tangible way; when i am overeating or eating things that aren't healthy for me, it's mental and emotional. I can find others ways to meet those needs.3 -
