This is great... but if you don’t mind, I will round to 138-146 just so it will fit nicely in the spreadsheet

Yep, sure thing. I'm thinking in kilos anyway, and then translating to pounds.

I found a new habit I need to form. I decided to try switching my afternoon snack and breakfast, and over the weekend I seemed to have good results with satiety that leads to less snack calories later in the day. The problem is, the now-breakfast is largely frozen berries that I have to take out to thaw the night before. I had planned on testing how the breakfast works for weekdays, but guess who forgot to take the berries out last night... Does anyone have tips for remembering things like this?

This is what I use my microwave for. I defrost my frozen berries on medium for about 1 minute 20 seconds to have with my yoghurt.

But if you'd rather let them thaw naturally overnight...

It helps if you piggyback on an existing habit (something else you already do every night), so that it becomes the habit that every time you do X you then also take the berries out to defrost. E.g. if you always have a cup of tea in the evening, mentally use that to remind yourself to get out the berries while the kettle is boiling. To start out, you might have a post it note near the kettle/tea/etc, to remind yourself, but after you've been doing it regularly for a while it will be a new habit that you will remember.

Or put an alarm on your phone and label it "berries" to go off at the same time every evening. Then you don't have to "remember" yourself

@boehle - congrats on your sons graduation. You both look so happy!

@ScottyTheGent - welcome to the group. I think we all understand the yo-yo weight thing. This time, I'm taking it slow and I'm OK with that.

I'll be riding my bike to work today (22 miles). This is something I started two years ago once or twice a week. I put my bike in the bike rack and drive to work - then leave my car at work and bike home. Then the next day bike to work and drive home. That way, I always have a car at work in case something comes up. There's a shower at work so I keep a bag packed with essentials. I love it.

    Good morning friends!!!!

I’ve gotten in the bad habit of stepping on the scales daily. For a couple days this week I was at 206.6-206.8. Up 0.4-0.6 from my official weigh in. I didn’t stress bc I knew I had eaten more Sunday and had Chinese x2.
Last night was back on the veggie wagon. Weighed this am and was 208.2! Up a full 2 lbs from Saturday. I’m sure a lot of this is the massive amount of veggies for dinner, but....

Spikes are part of the process, right? My weigh in is not for 48 hours. Time to get this back down. How is that? Water! Probably 2 days of Chinese food and sodium hanging out.

Looks like I’ll be a heavy drinker today :)

Yes that is salt and water bloat!! Do some cardio before you step on the scale next time and it will be lower!! Usually a run and a shower will knock off that couple lbs of water and salt. I was not a scale person the first couple times I lost weight but now I love it. I'll weigh several times in a day to see what eating does and exercise and just anything can change that number in a flat second!! The scale is a cool tool. I enjoy learning what happens in my body from food and exercise!! I have to be careful not to let it discourage me. It's a tool remember what you learn and never forget this is a process with lasting lifestyle changes......that's always been the hardest part for me lol

@peachplace I will join your burpee challenge. I have to admit having never actually done a burpee this might be difficult.
I’m currently doing a kettle bell challenge, so this will be a nice add on.

@Be_theBest_Me - you are right. The scale is a tool and it can also help us from letting things get out of control before correcting the errors. It is hard not to be discouraged when you KNOW you are in a deficit, maybe not as big of one as before, but still a deficit.

This is a process, not an overnight quick fix. We all have to remind ourselves of that!

I cannot even question why I am up 1.4 from last week. I don't think its really true but its logged. I have had cravings for lunchables late at night lately. I never want lunchables or maybe its me just trying to eat through them to get them out of the fridge. Either way, they are gone now LOL
    Weekend plans anyone?
I work Saturday until 6 then my guy is coming over to power wash my house for me, then we are ripping up the rest of my carpets to then sand them down on Sunday. This has been the only advantage of being an empty nester

@Luciicul I’ve tried microwaving the berries a few times, but always ended up with grossness about too warm, still frozen on the inside, or both. I’m trying to think positive by framing this as an experiment about learning new habits. Which this is, of course, but in addition to the habit I also want to pay attention to the process. Tonight I remembered them, even though I came home late and slightly drunk, so that’s a victory in my book!

@peachplace I’ll try to do the burpees tomorrow!

Today was interesting, calorie wise. I had a really active day (my Fitbit burn is 3400 calories, it’s not yet midnight, and it’s usually accurate), but I also had a buffet dinner and some drinks. I tried to log as accurately as possible, and according to my logs I’m still at a small deficit even though I ate almost 1000 calories more than I’m ”supposed to”. With the alcohol and huge amount of food tomorrow’s morning weigh in (I weigh in daily) is going to be veeeerrry interesting.

It was great to see colleagues and be around people in general. It was also interesting to notice my alcohol tolerance has come down... we went for post-dinner drinks and I had two. Usually that amount isn’t something I really even notice much. After those two I stood up to go to the restroom, took a few steps, and almost stopped because the experience of ”whoa I’m drunk” was so strong. I switched to sparkling water for the rest of the night so now my head is cleared and I saved a nice amount of calories, so I think that was a win.

Normally it takes me about 1:45 but today it took me 2 hours. This was only my 4th time out so I was tired and my butt hurt! I take backroads and live in the country so there’s not tons of traffic. I do have a pretty obnoxious flashing red light on the back of my bike which helps me be seen. My bigger problem is dogs.

When Covid 19 started I saw a challenge to do 19 burpees every day until it was over. It’s laughable now seeing as how there’s really no end in sight. I made it about 10 days before I quit. I hate burpees so much.

    Hi! I am Megan.

I am 27, and I live with my long-term boyfriend (who is pretty great if I do say so myself). I like horses, water skiing, and my dog.

I am near the end of my weight-loss journey and I am struggling through those last few lbs. I have been in this group for a while and I can honestly say - it is great! I love the support and encouragement that I find here.

    Stats:

    5'2"
    SW: 160
    GW: 125
    CW: 131.6

    Hey Megan,

While I am double your age, we otherwise have very similar goals and hobbies! I grew up riding horses and water skiing (in fact I now live on a lake) and am an avid animal lover in general.

I'm almost 5'3"... and my goal weight is 125 too!

It's interesting to see a similar yet younger version! I'll post a pic of our boat ride this evening with my weigh in!

I finally broke those 132's... it's such a struggle and hope I can continue. The next couple of weeks will be a challenge because family will be here.. and I mean like 20+! So wish me luck navigating feeding and entertaining the masses! 😁

So, results are in from last night’s party... scale weight is up 1,6 lbs from yesterday. Good thing I follow trendweight. Also I’m exhausted and didn’t sleep very well. I had plans to go to the gym today at lunchtime, but my muscles are sore from the activities yesterday and I’m exhausted, so I’m going to take a nap instead. Also, it’s raining and going to the gym would require leaving the house and walking/biking there. Ugh.

My knee is giving me enough trouble that I need to start physical therapy again. So frustrating! Challenging couple of weeks ahead. We’re heading up to Oklahoma City today to take our son out to dinner for his birthday. Just a quick overnight trip. But last weekend we spent a couple days in Fredericksburg, a neat town in the Texas Hill Country. Lots of shops, restaurants and wineries. Not totally open yet but it was nice to escape for a bit. Kinda sad I didn’t even have any wine there!

Next weekend we’re heading to Fort Walton Beach for a family reunion. We have a great spot on the beach so will have plenty of room to spread out. But there’s such an “emotional workload” in prepping for the trip, and that’s where I have to be careful that it doesn’t mess up my eating. I’ve already caught myself slipping into stress eating this week.

    Have a great weekend, y’all!
