@tryingagain5 Linda, I've been thinking about you a lot this week, especially about what a difference your gym opening back up is going to make for you. I've been lucky because my boot camp has live Zoom classes so the trainers can see us and correct our form and all of that. I really need someone seeing and interacting with me and have never been very good at video workouts. Lots of people are but, for some reason, not me. I'm happy you will have a couple of normal paycheques too. That'll make the 4th of July more of a celebration for you. I'm so relieved that things are getting closer and closer to our new normal.3

@Cafelelia I love it when you mention Toronto. I honestly have not been keeping up with the press conferences because you are now my CBC, especially when you mention Kim's Convenience. For those of you who don't know the show, it's about a Korean-Canadian family who run a convenience store. Since I live a short block away from Koreatown in Toronto, it's the only type of convenience store we have. I actually know the people at the two nearest stores quite well.
Here's a fun story. Don't get confused by the Wendys. (I'm going to refer to one of them as 'my' Wendy just to keep things straight.) My international student, Wendy, who is from Vietnam, is so enamoured with Korean pop culture that she chose her English name Wendy based on a K-pop star named Wendy. This celebrity is known by the single name Wendy, kind of like Prince.
Anyway, the star Wendy moved from South Korea to go to high school just outside of Toronto and so my Wendy followed in her footsteps moving here for her final two years of high school in North Toronto. Then, when my Wendy chose where to live when she started college, she chose my house because of its proximity to Koreatown. When the singer Wendy performed in Toronto last year, my Wendy got the best seat in the house and ended up seated near Wendy the celebrity's mother and other relatives. When I asked her why she was going to the concert alone, she said that she didn't want anyone to take her attention away from Wendy. She is obviously a super fan.4 -
I have been with Team Weight No More for several years now and a group captain since November 2018. I love this team and have learned so much from each one of you. The support and camaraderie here is something that I couldn’t have found anywhere else! This is why it’s really hard to tell you all that I’ve decided to step down as captain.
It’s just not possible right now to volunteer the time necessary to do as good a job for you as I would like to. I have wrestled with this decision and, in the end, decided that this is best for me and for you, my good friends on the team. Now that Jim is better, I don’t want to be on a computer for hours or held to a schedule. I want to spend as much time as I can with him and our family.
I also want to spend time focusing on me. I think you all know how much dedication it takes to achieve our goals. The good news is that I definitely plan to stay on as a team member and your friend. The only difference is that I won’t have the team captain responsibilities, many of which are behind the scenes spreadsheet-type things, and sometimes I might not be commenting quite as much.
Now for some more good news - our wonderful captain Lisa (@cafeleia) will be staying on as captain and we have a team member who stepped up to take my place. Thank you to Theresa (@1theresamcvean)! Theresa’s enthusiasm and experience will be great assets to the captain position together with Lisa.
Now, why don’t we all think of a fun name for our two Toronto ladies…Two Terrific Torontonians? Toronto’s Talented Two? The Capable Canadian Captains? A couple of cute Canadians? I know together we can think of something. I know our team is going to be stronger with Lisa and Theresa as captains right now, especially with Casey as our team motivator, and of course all of you! Honestly, it’s the members who make the team.
I have to give a special shout out to my awesome co captain Lisa. When Cyndie had to leave abruptly, Lisa stepped up immediately. Cyndie was a beloved Captain and member of our team. Those were tough shoes to fill but Lisa did it with ease. I think you all would agree that Lisa's presence has had such a positive impact on our team. I also can never thank her enough for taking over when Jim got sick. She kept the team going single handedly while being very sick herself, having a sick son plus navigating home schooling. She is truly an amazing woman and we are lucky to have her as one of our leaders of Team Weight No More!
I also want to thank each one of you for making the time that I was captain so rewarding. It was an experience I will always treasure. xoxo

Hey team Weight No More,
Yesterday I was messaging Pam and she said to me, “I am out to lunch with Jim now. I will check in later. “ I thought to myself, “Take all the time you need, Pam. It’s the least we can do for you.”
I’ve been on MFP off and on for I have no idea how many years. Then in January 2018, I really needed support. I weighed 177.4 and my goal was a toned 142 pounds. I had lost smaller amounts of weight here in the past. But, for me, this was more of a challenge. So, for the first time, I made friends. Pam was one of the first.
We were in a step-challenge group together called Sole Mates. Over the course of 11 months, I lost most of the weight I wanted and then hit some troubled times with close family members falling ill. I took some time away from logging food and did alright, maintaining that weight for a year and a half. All I really did was record my steps with the Sole Mates group.
But, this January I was ready to recommit to my goal again. And you know what? The best thing that happened was Pam inviting me to our group. I remember her saying, “The team name is called Weight No More, see what we did there?”
This is a fantastic group. No doubt in large part thanks to Pam.
I also have each one of you to thank. I learn something every week from all of you. I won’t list them all here but I can tell you that I carry your comments with me as I go about my day. I’ll be at a store and think, I’m going to get some hummus because Sheryl (@lennoncpa) recommended it. I also got some bullet journals and stickers because Angelina (@Mrsbell8well) creates the best visual goals. I made my first Toronto MFP friend here when I met Lisa (@cafelelia). Casey (@GingerPwr) has taught me a lot lately about weight fluctuation and is an enormous source of motivation.
Every one of you inspires me and I’d list an example from each of you but I think I’d better go learn how to update those spreadsheets now so I can help us all reach our goals. I want to honour Pam by doing a good job and giving her the time she deserves to focus on herself and her family.
Plus, I’m really looking forward to working on this with my fellow Torontonian, Lisa, and with Casey!
Thanks Pam. xo6 -
I cannot thank Pam enough for being such an awesome captain! You have always been there for us and I have so enjoyed working with you this past year (almost)! I hope that you take this summer to focus on yourself, Jim and your family!! I will miss you and am so glad that you are sticking with the team!!
I am also very fortunate that Theresa decided to co-captain with me!! Theresa, I have always loved your positivity and your posts in general! I was also thrilled to find a fellow Torontonian on MFP, and together, we will be a dynamic, Canadian duo!
Big virtual hugs to you both!!3 -
@sleepymom5 good for you Pam! You have done a fantastic job! Thank you so much! And @1theresamcvean Theresa how wonderful of you to step in to help Lisa with captain duties. This team has been truly blessed!!!

Had to share a picture of me taking a break In the gravity chair.
Cleaned out the fridge and made an amazing taco salad with all the leftovers. Including yummy chipotle bitchin sauce as a dressing. Has anyone tried that?4 -
@Mrsbell8well Thanks for your words of support. I have not heard of bitchin sauce and would like to know more. Also, what was the other one...crunchy, spicy, something-or-another, that you said was a bit pricey but worth it? I'd like to order some. BTY, love your rainbow lights.

Yesterday a lovely thing happened on my way home from helping a homeless woman who lives in a park nearby, which is a story for another day. Well, actually, while I was checking in on her and bringing her food, a flashlight, and some books, a bunny - an actual live bunny - appeared very close to us in this little park. We live downtown in the biggest city in Canada, so that was a miracle in itself.
So this was really the second lovely thing.
I saw these!
If you look closely, they're sprinklers.
People are really stepping up their drive-by/street birthday parties:
Speaking of birthday parties in my neighbourhood. I remember the day after we moved here, my son, who was 10 or 11 at the time, was invited to a birthday party at the house directly across the street from us. My husband (at the time) and I were looking out our living room window and saw that our neighbours had ponies for the kids in the parkette next to their house. My husband said to me, "Oh, wow. We're really going to have to step it up for Phil's next birthday party. What do you think of strippers?" He would never, ever, go to see strippers, which is why it was so funny. We're still friends. LOL

@1theresamcvean thank you for stepping into the co-captain shoes. I have enjoyed getting to know you on our team and look forward to your greater role with Team WNM.
Thanks, Nancy. I've learned so much from you, including intermittent fasting in a somewhat more moderate way. I was worried that I couldn't do it at all and then you chronicled the way you approached it and I wasn't afraid to try it out. I'm really happy I did.2 -
@kirsten11872 Amazing loss and for the second week in a row. After all you have been through in your area with the severity of Covid, homeschooling, and everything else, you must feel great!3
-
@sleepymom5 I read your message with my breath held until I saw you were staying with the team - so pleased to hear that! Thank you for all you have done in the leader role, and happy to know you are taking time for yourself and your family. Much love to you x
And @1theresamcvean Yay! Congratulations on the promotion!!!! So glad you have stepped into the role x3 -
Check in for past few days:
Thursday: Food logged and under and a good workout done. After the rain stopped and my working day was over, my daughter and I went for a walk. Found some massive muddy puddles that Violet loved jumping in.... and discovered her wellies had a massive hole!
Friday: Food logged and under (only just!). Hour BodyAttack workout. After Ben had finished his school work we headed to town as he had outgrown his shoes during lockdown. Many of our "non-essential" shops opened this week, but was quite a weird experience. It was myself and both kids and we had quite a successful shop - bought each of them new PJs, trainers, wellies and socks. They were really well behaved whilst shopping (very rare!), so we also went to the toy shop and got them a small thing each. Once home, wellies were donned and kids and I headed back to the puddles - they had shrunk since yesterday, but kids still had great fun! Both drenched by the time we got home!
Dinner was Indian takeaway - had chicken shashlick and naan, so no really high calorie sauces!
Saturday: still happening at the moment, but have gone over my calories by a bottle of wine......5 -
@sleepymom5 I was getting really nervous and scared while reading your post. I thought you were gonna say that you were leaving and I don't think I could handle that cause you're one of the people here that I am most comfortable with. I love everyone here, but I'm such a shy, nervous person with so much anxiety, that it's hard to feel comfortable around almost everyone. 😥 But SO GLAD to hear that you're not leaving the team! Phew!
Also, I LOVE Daisy!! She is beautiful! Is she a Golden Doodle?3 -
@sleepymom5 I am so glad you are staying with the team. I have learned a lot from your posts about weight control and life. Enjoy your time with Jim and the family, you have earned some time off from being team captain.2

Weigh in: Week 4
Weigh in day: Sunday
PW 253.3 (114.9 kg)
CW 251.5 (114.1 kg)
Not bad given my migraine/eye and face pain all week. I barely did any exercise, although I was stretching/yoga as much as I could manage. Today is much better.4
