I think I'm feeling a bit blue , having entered ANNE's area of physical mishaps. My memory is also disappearing! I'm finding today I cannot recall several computer rules , which are frustrating me,...a dentist showed up here to glue my 3 tooth bridge back in, and said actually I need 2 stumps pulled and a new bridge made! $$$$$$!!! I'm wondering if I will ever be able to return to my own apartment? I' too tired to continue

I made it back. Thank you everyone for he nice comments about my pictures of our family.

Bob - quite a co-incidence about Melanie and Andrew for sure. 3 grands, aren't they fun for sure.

Anne - yes I'd love to see a great grandchild. I think my Mom had 12. Elizabeth or Liz whatever we are calling her will be 20 on her next birthday. No serious guy in the picture yet, but who know. Zach will be 18 on his next birthday and Heather is 15. The twins are 13 now so good chances on any of those kids for great grands down the line. Hope so. I just love babies.

Sandy - Melanie has 10 kids and Melissa has 2. Not sure if Melanie is done yet. LOL.

Lin - Your puzzles and tea pots look so interesting. The one of the sewing stuff was fascinating, I'd love to do that one.

Patsy - the idea of a Labor Day BBQ sounds so good. Wish we could do it too. With the kids at school now, we are hanging low for a bit. So are the other grandparents. But wouldn't it be nice to have everyone over and just have fun.

Jackie - Wow. Aren't you the busy one. Sounds like a great project

Buzz - glad you are back now. I'm sorry you are feeling blue, but I certainly understand. Big big hugs.

Warm day here today. I've gone on two nice 45 minute walks but the last one played me out completely. Ed and I went up to DQ for a treat. I've been avoiding milk so I had a slushy but I was sorry I did. A sundae is so much for satisfying. I think next time, I'll treat myself with a sundae. Food intolerances - bah bah bah

    oy6yyyg1189p.jpg

I took these yesterday on one of my walks. Trying to get in as much outside exercise as I can.

Hope you all have a great long weekend. We will be staying home but hope to go camping next week. Perhaps Tues, Wed, Thurs and Fri. All depending on the weather of course.

    bye now

A brisk walk so we managed to miss the showers. George was disgusted when I put him into his coat as his trim was short so it was soon removed!
Home with coffee brewing and doors open to air the old walls. Plans to tidy outside where weeds abound after warm rain ☔️ then a possible allotment visit.

Sandy, my lost post yesterday was sent through my iPad or so I thought but I see the photo I included of grumpy George isn’t in the gallery so it must be something I did wrong!

Lin, car parks are the worst places for bumps and scrapes so I understand your friend’s husband’s annoyance. I prefer to park at the far end and walk in the hope no one comes near my car but sometimes that acts as a magnet and I return to find I’m surrounded!!

Buzz, It’s lovely to see you post but I’m so sorry things aren’t going as you wish. Lockdown has done to my brain what you feel is happening to yours so I do think it goes with the territory when we can’t socialise. Hang in there lovely lady. ❤️❤️❤️

Patsy, that gorgeous Runtie is definitely a not so distant cousin of George’s and I did laugh at that face.
I find my pooch is at his happiest when muddy, wet and covered in fox poo! None of that today; he behaved!

Anne, in my lost post I said that when I finish with all the renovations and sit with feet up and that glass of wine you can say I told you so!!
Rest that painful knee so no falling on top of one of your loaves! That generation was incredibly stoic, probably because of bombs, rationing and the lost lives of loved ones.

Bob, enjoying your busy weekend hopefully!

A beautiful walk Jeri and a great way to get pooped! 😁

Celine Dion has just been belting out All By Myself on the radio and now it’s Simon and Garfunkel’s The Sound of Silence. Now there’s a contrast!!

    Enjoy your Sunday everyone.
    Jackie 🥰

Good morning. Here’s something I will never see in real life. Wow.

“ How about finding this at your local Charity Shop.
It’s called the Egoist and is said to be the most valuable teapot in the World. Made by the tea company Newby it took 1.730 hours to make. It contains 1.658 diamonds and 386 rubies. It’s a one cup pot and is valued at £2.5 million stg.”

Is Donald's name engraved on the bottom of the teapot for one LIN?

Today is an auspicious day in my little household. It's the day my eldest decided to arrive 2 months early 59 years ago. Seems like yesterday!

Nothing else happening so far, but then it's only 8:06 !

It's going to be a lovely day today, or so the weather icon says. Not so tomorrow, thunder claps and lightning with no doubt the electricity going off. Something to do with the after effects of the hurricane.

Anyway Sneakers, have a lovely Sunday whatever mischief you might be getting into.

Anne and Bean who have just had breakfast. Does anyone else's dog have to have a wee taste of weetabix?

Wow Lin, what a stunner and although I've never been a diamonds kinda girl I find that teapot stylish and all together scrumptious. Whoever designed it had to know its owner felt the need to be surrounded by opulence!

Anne, I meant to say when you mentioned buying a couple of warm items from M & S for the winter, take a look at these little tops. I bought a couple last year and when they arrived I took them out of their packaging and thought I would never get into them but turns out they are not only stretchy but also wonderfully warm but light. Covers the rear too which is always a good thing in cold weather when we don't want gaps round the middle! Excellent value.

Thanks for the preview and suggestion JACKIE. for the next time I order!!! I've put them on the "not just now" button. so I won't lose. This time I've ordered jeans, a roll neck sweater and a cardigan. I'm waiting with Bean for Mike to arrive in my very favourite ever M&S camel pants and the top I wore on the picture I posted of me looking happy - minus the molar. Have you ever ordered their towels or household goods? Thinking Christmas gifts. We can't buy their food alas. What I really like is everything I order is the perfect size for me, regular, no shortening pants etc.

We've just been to the mail box at an amble. Jill is a sniffer, no racing along for her, thank the Lord.
    Anne. ❤️

Happy Sunday! :) Church service this morning and then catching up on games on computer.
Movie night was great except I think the adults liked the live version of Cinderella better than the kiddos. Next time we will watch something animated. Gloomy kind of day today so other than bike and a zoom call nothing on the agenda. If it stops raining maybe a visit with Joe.

Nothing new to talk about so have a nice day.

Finished gardening for the day so fish, sweet potato patty and steamed green veggies on the go plus a cuppa and couple of Ibuprofen for an aching hip. I forget sometimes that I’ve got replacements! Turned out to be a sunny afternoon so lots achieved.

Yes Anne, I’ve bought their towels before and certainly they’ve been excellent quality in the past. Hopefully that’s not changed. Betty would eat anything and I mean anything, if allowed!

Oven timer beeping so time to eat.

    Hello all,

OMG Jackie I just love your pictures. Having dogs is certainly motivating to get out walking. None for us but my inborn numbers compulsion keeps me wslking. Somehow not meeting my goal just feels too too wrong.

Lin I can’t imagine drinking tea from such a gorgeous tea pot. Wow wow. Every time I make tea I think of how my dear Mom would disapprove. I either put a tea bag in a cup and microwave it for 2 to 3 minutes. Or put a tea bag in my tea pot filled with water and microwave it for 4 minutes. My mom believed the water had to be boiling then the tea bag added and then let it sit for a bit. I’m a dunk dunk dunk the tea bag person. LOL

Anne I’ve not ordered clothing online. Have you been happy with your purchases?

Sandy movies with kids is lots of fun isn’t it. Dark and gloomy here too and about to rain anytime now. Is movie night a regular event or on an as is basis? Mel and Sean have movie night every week but at home. Certainly would be expensive taking the whole group to a theatre plus snacks each week.

I actually slept in today. That’s a treat as I usually wake very early. We drove south of Calgary to pick up an old old wagon wheel Ed bought that he wants to put in the flower bed. Had a drive thru lunch at Wendy’s (boring) then stopped at a garden nursery to look at trees. We need to replace one of ours. It was after 3 by the time we got home. Where does the day go.

I see it is time to make supper. Bye for now.

Good evening. I have been puttering around all day. Another one of my boring to describe but okay for me kind of days. Watered plants, cleaned veggies. Attended online church. Made lunch. Did some more die cutting for cards and then hunted for some backing paper to incorporate and that stopped me dead in my tracks. I cannot find something I like. Must hunt through other options I have upstairs. Did some reading and worked on a puzzle.

Someone asked me what # of pieces I purchase for my puzzling enjoyment. Was that you Jackie?

Actually I look at the design, the price and the availability as I decide. I like 500 piece puzzles as I am pretty certain I won’t get too frustrated but these days it seems most available puzzles are 1,000 pieces or higher. There are more 1,500 and 2,000 piece puzzles than I remember. And I love the tiny puzzles, the 100 piece puzzles that can be kind of difficult as the finished piece is only about 8 1/2 X 11.

I am stocked up for winter on puzzles and books and art supplies.

Yes indeed winter—snow is expected in Colorado Monday or Tuesday. What a shift in the weather.

Back to it. Must finish washing the dishes, rinsing sprouts and I might cut up an apple. Sounds good.

    Everyone take care.

Thanks everyone for posting. Anne, I hope the birthday party was nice. Jackie, rest up! Jeri, thanks for the photos from your recent walks. I don’t think I thanked you before. Sandy, a quiet day for you. Now what is up for tomorrow?

Hello Buzz, Patsy, Barbie, Bob and Diane. 🙋🏼‍♀️

Well.....loud thunder claps had me and the Bean up and running at 5 am. 5 am on a holiday, aaagh.
Thunder claps all day apparently, summers going out with a bang. I see an afternoon nap in our future.

JERI, I only order clothes from M&S. nowhere else. But I can tell you I am more than happy with everything so far. Their clothes suit my English shape. The secret is to measure oneself carefully at the beginning and remember English sizing is different from Canadian and American. That goes for shoe sizes as well. I'm a size 12 in Canada but a 14 in the UK, and a "regular" for length etc. Shoes, a size 8 and a 6 in Canada. I'm waiting for an order right now, but my last order I was particularly pleased with. Despite the pandemic it was sent from Derby in the UK 4 days after ordering, arrived in Cleveland and I got it 3 days later.

Well, it's too early for breakfast. Bean has settled down after peering at the window nervously, maybe we should plod back to bed for another two hours.

    Yawn, Anne 😴❤️

Happy Monday and also Bank holiday for those of you over the pond. I say Monday but actually woke up convinced it was Sunday as one day merges into the next! 🥱

Definitely Autumnal but with extra layers on, including my M&S vest, I set off across the moors past sheep, cattle and a few ponies while swallows swooped over our heads. The bracken is dying back turning that gorgeous golden brown and a heavy dew gave the pooches wet tummies but they ran and sniffed for over an hour. I just strolled and took a few photos!
    3of61a0ncf6k.jpeg

Coffee break at home before some housework then I must empty my china cabinet so it can be moved away from the wall. Hopefully I’ll be sensible and box up glass and china I never use ready to take to a charity shop... who’s betting!! 😜

Our Covid numbers have jumped suddenly, apparently 95% being 40 and younger so most are not requiring hospital care but a reminder to the rest of us to continue to take care.

    Stay safe 🥰
    Jackie

Lovely colours in your photo JACKIE! My sort of colours. Yes we're out of bed again and there's a nip in the air, definitely on the way to being woolly vest weather!

And Yes, the covid numbers are steadily increasing here as well, maybe I ordered just in time before everything shuts down again.

As summer ends I'm whittling down on shabby old shoes and pants only fit for gardening. I find it very hard to do this, I think it's an echo of my wartime childhood when clothes where subject to ration books and scarce. Old jumpers carefully unravelled to be knitted into something new. And yet, there's a kind of relief in 2020 making way for a less cluttered wardrobe and a less cluttered house to dust. Even the makeup is on its way out, no point in wearing lipstick when we are peering over a mask.

I told my grandson he could have my very best beloved dinner and tea set once I'm pushing up daisies. He didn't seem all that thrilled and so I've decided to chuck out all the old stuff I was frugally using and enjoy my taste in dinner plates etc I really love! The set was built up over a long period of time, much of it part of my retirement gift from work and very expensive! I've only broken an egg cup so far!

I think we are in for a day of housework, washing etc, and then feet up with my latest Stephen King.
Which is rather enjoyable on a gloomy sort of day when you think about it.

Enjoy Bank Holiday everyone, and don't work too hard Jackie.
    Anne. 🙃🐶❤️⚡️☔️

Spooky Anne! I was literally just washing up having added 3 large meat dishes from my grandparents set given to them when they married in 1918 that had collected dust being displayed on top of the cabinet and had the exact same thought.... get rid of the cheap newish plates and bowls and use the inherited ones! I've a feeling the younger generations will regret decisions to turn their noses up at what we've held on to for so long but such is life! By the way, there are more clothes in my gardening drawer than any fancy going out items! Many years since I read a Stephen King novel as I tend these days to avoid his kind of novel. Not surprising since listening to our news, like today, someone stabbing several strangers on the streets and then a shooting outside a school!!

Jeri, as much as I love the walks I take I know without the dogs I would find excuses not to go most days. I can see how these wrist bands work for many people. My neighbour runs 5 kilometers every morning so as not to upset hers!! Keep counting Jeri! :D

Yes Lin, I asked about your puzzles and how many pieces. 1000 are a long term project for me and I suppose living in the current renovation mess I'm not motivated enough so maybe I'll try 500 once the rooms get back to normal, whatever that is!

Cottage cheese and pineapple for my lunch, maybe another coffee.

Me again. Our last sunny day for a while according to the weather forecast. I picked all the tomatoes that were turning even a little bit, pulled a couple of small red onions and grabbed the one tiny zucchini on the vine. Now if everything gets overly soggy and moldy, I feel I have done my best. A friend said I should try to keep too much rain from getting into my containers. Haaaa. Pretty difficult with tall plants growing in them. They do tend to get very soggy even with some drainage.

I cut up some vegetables for lunch, using a number of cherry tomatoes and some of the remaining broccoli sprouts.

I also hunted for more fall paper choices for my cards. Not happy with what I found but must get over it and make some progress on these cards. 🤣😂🤣.

And I have to get some checks written to mail tomorrow. Got an email from the library that I have a book due. I need to get it back to the drop off although it’s a bit odd, they are closed for renovation but still sending notices. Hum.

    For those celebrating today

    1vsh5e8mn89x.jpeg

And if anyone remembers old cartoons, this might be a me thing. I liked Fractured Fairytales, Mr. Peabody and Sherman, Dudley DoRight and his horse that Nell loved. Rocky and Bullwinkle, Pink Panther and a host of other shows. Which attracted me to this puzzle (1,000 pieces).

    d56i1ly3lyh2.jpeg

Anne, young folks do not care for good dishes that for the most part cannot be slung into the dishwasher and they do not seem to be as attached to sentimental memories associated with things as we are. And they don’t care for actual books, silver, etc. I don’t know if they will ever regret passing on everything, I guess I doubt it.

Jackie, my goodness, unloading a China cabinet is a huge job. I totally agree with using things that we treasure rather than letting them just sit. No one will love them more than we do. I love the photo of your walk this morning. It definitely looks like fall. 🍂🍁🍂. MFP has me a bit unhappy, I did not see your post with 2 photos including the one of the dogs looking like sentries atop a hill.

Our a Covid numbers have been high here but most people don’t seem to care. At least it seems that way given the photos of parties and events. I don’t know, I just stay home.

I have given up on Stephen King novels, there are now too terrifying for me added to the load of current events.

Jeri, sleeping in is a lovely option. I don’t know why I feel guilty when I do. I don’t have to go to work and I don’t have to walk dogs. Enjoy the good weather while it lasts. I love the photos of the woods.

Hello Bob, Barbie, Diane. If I have ignored you, I apologize. I will blame it on MFP.

Sandy, did I miss your post too?

Buzz, miss you dear friend. Wishing you the best. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

All best wishes for health and happiness.

Happy Monday and/or Labor Day! :) I think the rain has been held off until tonight but I still don't have any plans. I in fact have a headache which I seldom get so I keep taking my temperature. I do think it is a sinus headache and Robby was coughing Saturday so I hope it is not the start of a cold or anything more. I might be a little paranoid. B)
Patsy has emailed me that she is having a hard time getting onto the Sneakers. I have sent her a couple of suggestions so hopefully one of them will work. Bob, you might be more knowledgeable in that department so other then signing out and clearing her browser history do you have any other ideas??

Lin, I meant to tell you how much I liked yesterday's teapot, it was very elegant. No plans for me today, how about you?

Jackie, love the picture of the pups, curious if Betty has lost weight as she was instructed??
It is true that when I lived with Daisy I would walk much more than I do now. In fact I hardly walk at all and rely on my recumbent bike in my bedroom. I do have a bike in my garage and keep telling myself to ride it but at this age it is a little scary.

Anne, I don't think any of our kids or grandkids want any of our stuff except for maybe jewelry. Yours and Jackie's sound valuable but kids don't appreciate that. I know my daughter's in laws are always trying to give paintings and other things to the family and none of them want it.

Jeri, movie night is usually on Saturday nights depending on weather. I sit on Tuesdays so I get to see the kiddos twice a week and sometimes more. It is wonderful but I do miss adult company with dinner and drinks. I would love to see my brother but I just saw that part of my family was at a party for my ex brother in law's 85th birthday and no one was wearing a mask or social distancing which is why I declined the invitation. My brother wasn't there because he has health problems but the daughter he lives with was. The ironic thing is my ex bil has cancer and there he was smoking and having a beer. And people wonder why I get upset!!!

Bob must be out having fun this weekend.

Buzz, thinking of you and love you.

    Have a great day.
    Sandy
