Re: Sleep...Going to work daily hasn’t changed for me, as I work in an essential service. My sleep has been thankfully quite good. Despite the general strains of this year it has actually given my family more much needed quiet time together. Our pre-COVID itinerary was heavy with my kids’ multiple sports and extra-curricular commitments nearly every evening, which would often cut into everyone’s sleep time.3 -

Re: sleep - pandemic and peri-menopause have been playing havoc with my sleep. I am finding extended release melatonin somewhat helpful... but that didn’t stop the “not wearing a mask in a crowd” dream (?nightmare) I had last night...4 -

Did I exercise for at least 20 minutes? 76 minutes of cardio -- a HIIT workout of just different types of burpees for 35 minutes (yes, I died a bit) followed by a cardio dance class.
Did I stay within my calorie budget for the day? Yes and under
Did I keep track of everything I ate and drank? Yep!
I focus on sleep a lot and thankfully my quality and quantity rarely changes. I get up almost every morning at 5am to workout, so if I don't have good sleep, I can't do that. I have a very specific sleep regimen I follow -- every "school night" I start to wind down around 8:30pm and I'm in bed between 9-9:15pm to read. I read only paper magazines -- no electronics. And I read until I fall asleep.4 -

Reigning things in gradually, so I don’t have to diet- learned from last year!!
Still averaging a great amount of walking, but baby the hips when they are more problematic. Cut sodium & sugar!
Memories of the pain of last Jan & Feb’s weight gain & fear of not being able to maintain (and how long it took me to lose the 7-8 lbs) is definitely helping me now. I’m taking action earlier AND I have a much much better understanding of my body’s calorie needs AND am more in tune with my actual hunger. Grateful.7 -

I’m not the best sleeper but I don’t think the pandemic has made it any worse - I have been careful to ensure I go outdoors every day, exercise etc. But I’m not great at keeping off screens in the evening!

3 pass days used. Poop!!
My husband is in charge of making or ordering dinner 1 day/week. He ordered hamburgers for the family. He got me a turkey burger but I looked it up: it’s a 850 calorie bomb not counting the sweet potato fries it came with. Waaay over what I budgeted for dinner. And evening walk barely put a dent in the deficit. Sigh.4 -

my neighbourhood is very quiet but the low background sounds are somehow soothing. I listen to the BBC World service and it’s mostly talk radio. It relieves the stress of trying to get to sleep.
When I was younger, I could never fall asleep if something had words in it but now I've fallen asleep with the TV going and I swear I've slept better.😹

I am confused? Don't you live in Florida? Snow on the ground and a beautiful Sunflower in full bloom?
I am finding the older I am, that I don't need as much sleep as younger. I also find that I often get up before the alarm clock; however, I do NOT want to rely on myself yet!
Gina I am in Central Tx Austin. I have lived here since 91 and this is the MOST impressive snowfall (there have been others of course) that I have seen. Usually we get ice storms. And for the first time ever my work is closed today. Most I have seen is 2 hrs late start waiting on it to warm up. And yeah my neighbor had a gorgeous sunflower. Photo of the day and definitely worth getting out in the snow to see all the snow men and all the kids playing in it!3 -
Start weight, January 1, 2021: 132.0December 1, 2020 – 135.6

My calorie rule for January UACDefining, for myself more than anything, what is the definition of my daily calorie goal. For Oct and Nov, I used 1430 and not eating back exercise. December, I raised that to 1480 with no additional calories for exercise. For January, I am going to try a blended rule; either Food calories under 1480, or Net calories (ie Food minus exercise) under 1200. So, if my exercise burns less than 280 on a given day, there is no added calories. BUT, if I exercise more, I have the option additional food OR if I overeat, I have the option of exercising more to not use a pass day. This flexibility was not something I allowed in my previous rounds. Once I exceeded my goal calories, regardless of my exercise burn. Also, I am defining that I am using the MFP estimate for the caloric burn from exercise. I know I could get different numbers elsewhere, but I am going to use only the one source – good or bad.Date: 1/1

I think I missed posting yesterday - but I was good on all 3 counts so status doesn't change.
I'm fortunate that I don't have sleep issues. I'm usually in bed around 10 or 11 and up around 6. Occasionally I'll wake up and can't get back to sleep but that doesn't happen often. Not sure why I'm so fortunate.3
