@readyornot1234 You are so right! @SModa61 and I are in very different parts of the country, but we are both trapped in the real estate tornado zone.
Never too soon to start letting go of what we have chosen to keep because we had room to keep it.4 -
Today was an unusually fun day at the law firm. One of our clients gives scholarships to graduates of his high school. I got to be a part of interviewing finalists who are all so inspiring. The fun news is that he gave awards to all of them. A nice day of virtuous work!!
My UAC post:
Calories: under my limit
Tracking: easy and okay
Exercise: active stretching and walking7 -
@JennyRebecca the wonderful part, if any, is that her healthcare team was able to diagnose even though she didn't present symptoms.
@RangerRickL Aww...did any of the kids cry when they found out they all got a scholarship?

I am just coming up for air today. After returning from our weekend road trip, I got some very bad news about one of my dearest friends. One of the healthiest people I know - great shape, ideal diet, full of energy - was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, though she was symptom-free. It just doesn't make any sense at all . . .
Hi Jenny,
@JennyRebecca1978
I was so saddened to hear this. I hope all will Improve in the coming months. There is often much they can do; I will hope this is the case for your dear friend.
Feel free to message me if you need to “talk.”
One thing that someone told me
when faced with news like this is “never underestimate what the medical
community can do..” and he was right. New meds, clinical trials… and it sounds like she is strong & in good shape.
Thinking of you

Both my parents & my husband’s parents between age 60-65 seemed to get their homes “set” for later. My parents still had clutter, but they added on some more space & kept that relatively clear
My husband’s were much neater, but they got rid of even more. Everything had a place.
Both did repairs.
We are following suit. I pitched things from fall 2015 off until beginning 2018. My husbands then saw how nice it was & had been making great progress on office, financial paperwork, garage…
We began the repairs part about a year ago.
Got all insulation removed & the rat problem actually FIXED this time.
This month, we got significant termite issue addressed & preventive treatment applied.
Last week, replacement of corroding & incorrectly installed water & sewer pipes completed, replaced irrigation pipes with copper, & installation of a Water pressure valve regulator (the house apparently never had one!)
Hubby replaced rear screen door that fell off decades ago. 🤣
Whew.
Taking a breather before getting termite-damaged window frames etc replaced and sanding & repainting peeling window frames without termite damage.
Hoping the list will begin to shorten. We laugh because every time someone comes, they fox one thing & then say you need an X professional to come and do this other thing 🤪7 -

Pass Days = 8/3Sometime last night, probably while I was logging in here, person or persons unknown (aka %$#&^#$*!&*#s) "liberated" my daughter's new bike from where it was locked to the railing outside my front door. Don't know how they cut the lock cable because they took that with them too. My bike? Not touched. There was not a mark on the lock cable.
The bike I've been trying to give away... the *unlocked* bike I've been trying to give away?
Completely ignored by the blanketyblank *kittens*.
I woke in the night and heard it raining, so when I got up this morning, I decided to look out the window. Lo and behold! Big empty space where there used to be a bike. I was dressed in the height of fashion - t-shirt, undies, and a toothbrush in my mouth. I went rushing outside,(like I was going to be able to do something about it, right?), muttering imprecations against whoever took the bike, all of their ancestors and included their descendants. Stomping back inside, still turning the air blue around my head, I finished getting dressed, got my lunch together, and sat down at the computer to fill out an online police report (for all the good *that's* going to do). By the time I finished, I looked at my watch and "Expletive deleted!
I've missed my *kitten* bus!" Had to drive to work. Forgot to tell Aislinn I was driving when I told her bike was gone, so when she took Sienna for a walk, she saw my truck gone and immediately called me. I was already in court so called her back a couple of hours later. She said she'd finally read my FB post, but she hadn't earlier when she'd noticed my truck was missing. All she could think was oh no, they took the truck too.
Luckily, sort of, the bike is covered by my renter's insurance, but not sure it's worth filing a claim because of my deductible. So, I'm going to take the only picture I have of the bike in to a bike store tomorrow to see if someone there can tell me what a comparable bike is and how much one would cost. Then I'll have to determine if it's worth filing a claim to try to replace of if I should just suck it up with the one I was going to give away so Aislinn can use my bike when we ride together. Which is probably what I'll end of doing because, frankly, I can't afford the deductible. I wanted to get a road bike in the next year or so. This might move that time up a little.
I said above that it may have happened while I was logging in here last night. I heard people out there. Laughing, talking. I thought it was the neighbors, although there were a few other weird sounds, but I didn't really register it at the time. Sienna barked a little but not that much. I didn't get up and look. And I'm as angry at myself for that as I am at the buttheads that took the bike.
Enough of my whinging. I now return you to your regularly scheduled UAC posts.
BTW, I put all the *kitten*s in myself.
Congratulations to everybody heading for the Winner's Circle and those who will be Champions. I intend to be a champion myself.
Good night and good morrow to all of you.

@seilidhe So sorry to hear about your daughters bike.
The thieves are so quick, there’s so little you can do. My boyfriend actually saw the *** who took mine, just walked past, cut the lock cable without pausing and rode off. My friend got out of the restaurant door and across the road as quick as he could but had no chance. I feel your pain on the reporting – I spent hours on police and insurance claims, and I will be about £300 out of pocket even with the insurance money.3 -
Happy birthday @Chinkiri hope you had a beautiful day! Xox0
-
@seilidhe We rent a storage unit in Maine. Two weeks ago we got a call and their agent noticed our lock was missing from the unit. He checked and it looked undisturbed. Turns out thing were missing, a replacement door to a boat mini fridge, a cheap rod/reel, the wet vac, and the battery lights we use when in there. They left all the expensive stuff. We are so so confused........ *and irritated". So sorry they took your good bike. People can be such jerks.
Hubby refuses to make a police report. "not worth it." IMO the police should know even if we have no expectation of return, or making a report.0 -
@Chinkiri Congratulations on your 70th birthday! Wishing you all the best in this coming year!
@JennyRebecca1978 So sorry to hear about your friend 😓

I crave it every evening! I am fine all day but the time after dinner is the hardest. I feel really heroic today. I kept thinking how happy I was going to feel when I got up and thought it was 6/14...less than half the days.3
