HOW IT ALL WORKS:
Every challenger weighs in on their chosen day, every week without fail! At the end of each week, the tallies are done to determine the team and individuals with the most weight lost. The best losers are announced with full fanfare every Sunday. The team competition is all in good spirits - may the most losing win!
We also track those small, steady losses with the Green Week count. If you lose, however small an amount, it counts for 1 week in the green. At the end of the month, we celebrate everyone who lost every week. You are heading steadily towards your goal even if you aren't at the top of the weight loss leaderboard!
To make your weigh-in easy to find for your team Captains, please put it right at the top of a message, and use this format:
Username
Weigh In Day:
PW (Previous Weight):
CW (Current Weight):
If you miss two weigh-ins in a row without asking for a break, you will be dropped from the team, so be sure to inform your team captain if you are traveling, sick, or just need some time off. If you take a break, you are moved to the Support Team. You can remain on the Support Team for as long as you need to. You still participate in the discussions, you can weigh in if you want to, but it will not count in the weekly tally.
Once you reach your goal weight, you join the Goal Zone! You continue to weigh in every week. If you have 2 weeks above your self-defined goal zone, you go back to the regular team to lose that amount before it builds up. You will have a chance to hone those maintenance skills and stick with your team!
In addition to your own team, there are weekly F2F Full Group CHALLENGES. You can do all or none - it's up to you. Participating adds a lot to your success, so we hope to see you there often! These can involve anything fitness, health, or nutrition - and they’ll get you moving, thinking, and learning about this journey. Check the Announcements section for full group challenges.
Let’s show our fellow challengers some F2F love! Introduce yourselves right away, and let the new month begin!!

Welcome to August!
This is our home for the month, where all of our triumphs and challenges take place. Please (re)introduce yourselves and set some goals and daily actions for the month. Focus on the small every day choices, and you will get where you want to go!
I am Liselyn, co-captain along with @ashleycarole86 . I live in rural Québec, about 85 miles east of Montreal, and I'm a retired university professor of music. My weight loss story? After being somewhat overweight for most of my life, I really packed it on while in an admin job that involved a lot of sitting, meetings, travel, and meals. I tried many times to lose, but it was not until I was 58 that I got really serious with both food and exercise, and lost 40 pounds. I have been in a good zone for almost 9 years now, always refining and figuring out the things that work best, and making sure I don't have to do it all over again. Yes, it is possible to lose weight and get in shape during and after menopause!
I know there are people on this team who have a lot to lose, others who have lost a lot and are closing in on their goals, and some who might be working on losses that are stubbornly resisting. There is much wisdom here, and the most important lesson we learn from each other time and time again is that it is not a straight shot, there will be trials and errors, and sticking with it when it feels like you have fallen off yet again is the best thing you can do for yourself. Plateaus can be good, but going back the way you came is not!
Some helpful information/tools:
Posting your daily updates
We know from experience that posting daily (or as often as you can!) makes a huge difference to your success. Use any format you like to let everyone know how you are doing on your daily goals and habits. You can report on food, exercise, water, sleep, or whatever you are tracking and trying to stick with. While you're there, talk about how you are, ask questions, and if you can answer someone else, please do! Congratulate others, commiserate, enjoy someone's rant, or go ahead and rant yourself. It all helps make the kind of community where we are in each others' heads when the hand is reaching for that off-plan snack, or the couch is feeling way too inviting...
Weighing in
Please try to weigh in on time! When you post, put your weigh in at the TOP of a message, so it is clear and easy to find. If you cannot post your weight for whatever reason, please request a week off, or if you need a longer break, you can request to move to the "Support Team" where you can still participate but your weigh-ins will not be part of the weekly tally. This is where members who are ill, on vacation, or just needing a break can hang out for as long as needed.
The F2F Habit Tracker
If you want a simple place to track your most important habits, give this a try. You can see how your teammates are doing too The link is under "Announcements" on the main F2F page or go directly to:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1clzgw5CpOogPsL_D4tq27gEsE8rCVnVzk6QUC1XnO7Q/edit?usp=sharing
So everyone, tell us a bit about you, your goals for July, what steps you are going to work on. It's fun to know your name and where you live, if you're willing to share that, and what brought you here, how your weight loss journey has been, and where you are headed now. Let the introductions roll!0 -
Good morning team... welcome again to our new members and a big hello to everyone returning. Looking forward to another great month!
I have recently signed on as co-captain along with @jugar and I look after the step team specifically.
Step Challenge
While it's a step challenge, your daily steps from your tracker AND your minutes of intentional exercise will all count.
Please let me know if you're joining for August, and provide me with a daily step pledge (if you'd like to make one) so I can include you in those stats as well.
Then, report by the end of the day Sunday for the Saturday-Sunday of the previous week. You're also welcome to report daily like me, or whatever is easiest for you. As long as all the week's stats are there by end of day Sunday wherever you live, your steps will be counted in my weekly report.
I can attest to having to report in making it easier to get the exercise done. If you're motivated by the same, join us, and let's get inspired by one another. No matter your goals, all are welcome!2 -
My name is Ashley, I'm 34 years old, and I live just outside Calgary, Alberta. I am married to fellow teammate @bowens1973 who is also rocking his own weight loss quest. The accountability and partnership at home is a huge help.
I was a very athletic child, but my family had bad eating habits, and I loved food. A move in my childhood was the first interruption to my sports, and then as I grew older, the activity continued to slow. But, the love of food didn't. I have struggled with my weight my whole adult life, and while I've had periods of losing, I've previously gained it back (and then some). I woke up one morning in January after a bad dream, recorded my highest ever weight, and I've been on here consistently ever since. I started at 293, am down just over 65 pounds, and I'll keep marching on until I hit my goal weight in the 160's.
What's different this time? Well, a lot of things. This time around, I'm focusing on a solid foundation of tracking every day, staying within my calorie budget, and making exercise a regular habit. My mindset is different. As an all or nothing perfectionist type thinker, I've been my own worst enemy in the past, but I'm not willing to self-sabotage any longer. The daily accountability of this group helps me a lot as well! This journey is a top priority in my life for my health and my future, and being here every day helps keep me focused.
August goals -
3 pushups a day
2L water
10K steps (or equivalent)
5 minutes daily stretching (since my yoga goal was a bust last month! realized I set an unrealistic goal and it kept me from making any progress.. starting smaller this month)
Looking forward to another great month together!

I'm Kristi and I am 39 years old. I have been married to my awesome husband for 14 years and we have 3 kids age 12, 10 and 6. I live near Spokane Washington in the USA. Currently the whole family is on summer vacation until September. We like to play outdoors and go to the lake.
I have struggled with my weight since my early 20s. It has been a combination of hormones, having babies and loving food too much. My top weight was 255lbs about 2 1/2 years ago. I have slowly been making my way down to 223lbs right now. I have used noom and this group to help me make progress. I was down to 214lbs but needed a mental break from weight loss and backed off for February and March. Getting myself back on track has taken time and patience 😌
This month I am working on:
Managing my calorie budget
Drinking water only
Keeping my workouts a little more mellow4 -
Happy Sunday Team!
Sunday weigh-in:
PW - 185.8
CW - 186.0
Just grabbing coffee and toast then dashing off to work.
I'll report my steps and exercise later on today.
Belated welcome to all newcomers ❤

My name is Stephanie and I am 45 years old. I currently live in Luxembourg in central Europe but for the month of July my husband and 2 youngest kids traveled in the US it was so great to see family and friends again and to be home. The best time was to be with my oldest son who lives in Oklahoma.
During these travels I took a break from MFP and all my routines. I walked and ran and worked out (sporadically) during this time but I didn't manage my food intake and drank alcohol when I wanted. I definitely didn't feel energized from my food choices and it was interesting to see that I actually prefer to eat better foods now and I feel better when I do. My family has always had an issue with weight and stress eating and boredom eating and just a general need to feed you to feel like you are loved or part of the family. My weight this summer was just about the same as last summer when I visited although I feel like I am lighter. I gained a few pounds during these travels but I think they will come off quickly.
I am looking forward to get back to some routine with my food intake and workouts.
My goal is to be at 145lbs by the end of the year. I feel like I haven't been focused on this goal or had true belief that I can lose this weight or that I have needed to. I am looking forward to having more accountability with myself and this group again in August.
CW: 165.8
Here are my daily goals for this month:
- Sleep more than 7 hours & get out of bed by 8am
- Drink 2L of water
- Exercise (3 days of running/week & stretch every day)
- Food intake within my restricted calorie range
- Post status or update on MFP

Hello, my name is Gary, I’m 50 and I live in Florida. I’m down 47 pounds. I’m not sure what my ultimate goal is but I’d like to drop another 20 pounds by the end of the year. I eat a keto diet and I’m considering joining Zoom this month. I enjoy this group and I look forward to working with the team to crush our goals!3

Hi everyone, I'm Courtney and I've been with the WaistAways for nearly a year now. I'm currently in a maintenance phase in my weight-loss journey as I reached my first goal of 190lbs in May from my starting point of 244 late last August. I'm currently working and living in cottage-country Quebec, Canada and the maintenance and repairs for our run-down home are currently taking my focus from tracking calories and intentional exercise. I'm hoping that by October we will get to a point in the progress where I can rededicate my efforts to exercise and cooking instead of hauling lumber and concrete and eating whatever can be ingested quickest to keep going. I would really like to eventually lose another 20lbs to make it back to my 'highschool' sized self.
I'm already very happy with the progress I've made with this group and my non scale victories of being more fit and able to handle the sports I play. I love the support of this group, it feels like weight-loss is a team sport and we are not alone in our struggles.
Keep it up WaistAways!5 -
Morning everyone, happy Sunday and welcome to August!
My mom and brother are coming up to the lake today for a visit. Just had breakfast and I will head out to get my first round of steps in before they get here. It's supposed to be a real scorcher today, so it'll also be good to beat the heat now.
Since my family is so aware of what I'm trying to do, and I've been really good about setting my boundaries this time, there is no additional pressure to eat any differently when my family comes to visit. In the past, "one day won't hurt" type commentary would have been expected. While one day doesn't hurt in the long run, and while I can make a choice to indulge if I want, switching my mentality so that it's MY choice and not me acting to please others has been a huge help for me.
Have a great Sunday all!3 -
Welcome back @Steph1498 .... glad you had such a nice vacation with family!2

Hey all,
I am Ben, 43 years old, living in NJ, originally from London, England. I have two wonderful children that I love and work hard in real estate finance, which I enjoy. I have always struggled with yoyo dieting. I love food too much and overeat when stressed. I decided to put my mind to it, make life changes and be another success story! I can't let my kids outrun me any longer! I am new to this group and look forward to be supportive to others as best as I can.
My current weight is 260lbs. I stopped working out 4 years ago and the weight kept creeping up, despite various attempts at dieting. Time has come for some real changes! So here goes...
My goals are:
- stay under in my MFP diary
- losing 2lbs a week
- walk 5000 steps a day
- workout 3 times a week for an hour
My weigh in day is Sunday.
Best of luck all of you awesome warriors!6 -

Thanks for the intro - your goals are realistic, and you sound determined to make it work this time! We all love to eat, so we can relate to how hard it is not to soothe our stress or boredom with lovely food. Logging and getting used to a new "normal" will get you there. No more creeping!
Since today is Sunday, weirdly enough, this is your Week 1 weigh-in day. I know you just signed up, but that's how it goes - your starting weight should be last Sunday's, but even if you just stay the same as when you signed up, you'll be on schedule. I had you as a Thursday weigh-in from your registration message, but I'll move you to Sunday if you prefer.
Part of my job as co-captain is to remind everyone (OK, nag everyone...) about weigh-in days and to enter everything in the spreadsheet. If ever you want to check up on how everyone is doing, look up your previous week's weight, or anything else, you can go in there any time. Here is the link (it is also on the F2F main page):
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1XACnddBDerUjgxE22QFqrOnHfkrvG-CZ7677Mu8icr8/edit?usp=sharing
When you post your weigh-in every week, I mark your post as "insightful" once I have entered it into the spreadsheet. We always use the "insightful" as a sign that information has been received and recorded, in case you are wondering what is so danged special about your weekly numbers0 -
Congratulations, team!
We are number TWO for July and for week 5. We did not have the spectacular losses that often lead to rebounds, so I am very happy with the number 2 spot. Generally there was more losing than gaining, and we had a good month. Well done!

Welcome back! I am glad you had good travels and visits with your family. Your goals for getting back to weight loss and fitness are great - you are right that the weight will come off fairly quickly once you are back to your routine and have more control over what and when you eat. 145 is there in November waiting for you. I can see it!2 -

Thank you very much for explaining how this work and for the encouragement. This is pretty well organized!! Well done!!
If you have my weigh in day as Thursday then please keep it for Thursday. I’ll weigh myself properly this Thursday. Thanks.
And to everyone in the group, feel free to add me if you want some more supportive friends.3 -
Exercise 08/01 - 13,395 steps
Brad and I did something fun for exercise tonight... we played frisbee golf! This is actually our third time or so, but we haven't gone since he had his hip surgery. It's a much more enjoyable experience for him now. The course was a new one for us, but very straightforward and well laid out. Think we'll go there again for sure. Plus, our dog LOVED it... she was chasing the frisbees down like crazy. Fun family outing.
Navigated our company at the trailer well today... Brad is a BBQ enthusiast so he always churns out good meat treats off the charcoal grill. I still enjoy it all, but in much smaller portions now (as does he). Plus, with things for dessert like fruit now instead of pie, there have been lots of little shifts that make a difference.4 -
Hi all, I'm Katie living near Nottingham in the UK with my husband and our cats. I gained a lot of weight in my early 20s, lost a reasonable amount, put some back on and stayed there for a couple of years and then got back to my highest number last year. I started the MFP journey in January and so far it's going very well; though I'm not losing as fast as many, it's very sustainable and I have no concerns about rebounding or falling off the wagon.3

I am very pleased to finish July in the next bracket down, particularly as I was fluctuating between 78.X and 79.X for a couple of months. Whilst I weigh in kg, I am 4lb away from getting under 12 stone and I'd really like to achieve that in August.
As we're working our way through the contents of the fridge and cupboard, I'm able to skew the meal plan more towards stir fry; OH isn't a salad fan and much prefers veg, but the calories in a home made stir fry are generally so low, it's an easy way for me to stay well under my calorie goal. I haven't dropped the goal for August but I'm thinking about it.
Saturday was a bit full on, but enjoyable. I didn't restrict myself too much; opted for Brazilian steak for lunch but only had a few of the chips (I need to look up some Brazilian recipes, it was lovely!) and the salad, shared the (admittedly huge) donut with OH, skipped drinks/popcorn at the cinema then at the evening meal, OH and I shared a starter, and I went for the smallest steak for tea. I need to stop having dessert when we're out really, and I wouldn't have done if it had just been OH and I. I get FOMO if somebody else is having one, but this was a little disappointing compared to the rest of the meal.
Yesterday energy levels were pretty low but we went for a run, and came in close to my best 5K time. I wasn't checking my watch at all or I probably would've pushed on to beat it, but I was tired, feeling a bit niggly, and didn't want the pressure. Had a PT session at 6am today (the 5.30am start sucks, but I'm fine when I'm up) and we're still assessing. After warming up, he had me doing the battle rope with lunges, then onto the assault bike, rinse and repeat - not necessarily resting in between! Hip flexors are neither weak nor to tight so not really sure what's getting in my way. We're hoping to do some running analysis next week, weather permitting.
Planning a trip to IKEA this evening, as we want some new plates. Will be having food before we go so there's no temptation when we're out. May however choose to stay at home and nap instead.4 -
Good morning all, its Monday... I decided to start the 1st monday of the month, by exercising. I only did 5 minutes of hiit, I had planned on doing 10, but I got wishy washy after my morning meditation, the bed was all too comfy. but i honestly believe this is the 1st monday of the year I have exercised. So I'm calling it a win. 😀
I have a nice lunch packed its a spinach salad with red pepper, radish and turnip.
Dinner will be chicken breast with pesto pasta.
I will do some yoga this evening...
Have a great day!5 -

Hey all, welcome to the new members,
I'm Masoumeh 34 from Amsterdam, married and no kid. My goal is building up some healthy habits, stop being workaholic and lose 13 kg.
During the past years I was able to cut any food/drink with any type of sugar/alcohol, from past month I've started to cut chips and now it is time for lowering down/cut the pizza and cheese burger that at the beginning seemed to be easy but I just figured out that it is one of the main challenges that I have faced.
Goal of this month
7 hr walk per week
Log my food
Limit pizza/cheese burger to max 1 per week

It’s great to read everyone’s posts and thanks for the welcome back and glad to see the new members - we have such a diverse group!
I got my first run in of the month today and even took my shirt off. For so many reasons those women who run in just their sports bra always intimidated me and I was jealous that my husband could get some sun during his runs. Well I run near corn fields pretty much all alone so I gave it a try and yep it felt great. Nice way to start a sunny day! ☀️6
