Congratulations @bowens1973! Fantastic first place!
1/16: 31 minutes elliptical + 8899 steps
I had SUCH an amazing weekend with my sister's birthday party on Saturday and a potluck with friends yesterday. I did not drink, and I am glad about that. It was a beautiful gathering, and I am grateful for my friends.

@PlaneMonkey I'm so sorry for your loss. I can't imagine what you're going but your strength and determination to not slip back into those habits is very inspiring. All of the hugs.
@happimess01 thank you for sharing all of your thoughts and feelings. It sounds like your weight loss journey has had a lot of highs and some lows. It is inspiring that you recognize and reflect on your feelings and behaviour and still go back to sticking to your overall goal of being healthier.
I find it a depressing time of year and I find it comforting to be part of group that can empathize and understand the ups and downs of weight loss journeys but also life in general.3 -
@PlaneMonkey Courtney, I am so sorry to hear that your dad passed away 😢 💔 I teared up reading your post. He sounds like a wonderful person and dad. Glad you have such sweet memories of him. Sending hugs to the whole family.
@happimess01 Sam, I think you are a great example of how weight loss journeys aren't perfect. It truly is a journey and it comes with ups and downs. We can all be successful with our imperfect moments mixed in. I think being social and sticking to a calorie budget can be so tricky. It's also surprising how a release of pounds can come with a release of feelings too. I have experienced that too. Looks like you had fun and loved the pictures.3 -

Still battling Covid in our house. Seems like it’s infecting us one at a time. Both of my sons have now been sick (my younger son is still quite sick). At this point I’m feeling like February 1 is going to be my New Year’s - asking for a do-over.5 -

It sure feels like WA family today. My heart goes out to you, Courtney @PlaneMonkey on the loss of your dad. Having a fantastic dad is one of the great gifts the universe can give to us. Tell lots of dad stories with everyone - I hope you can gather at least some family together.
You too Sam @happimess01 - there is so much rich and confusing inner life to deal with, and doing it at least partly out loud helps you and everyone you choose to share it with. Thank you. Now that you had the experience of being a sweet drunk, maybe you can start to believe that you are altogether sweet and wonderful even when you're not drunk - and you look absolutely fabulous with that alpaca. However you are picking your way along this crazy precarious path - you are doing it. Bravo!
It's a slow snowy day today. I tried out my new toboggan harness, though, and it was amazing! I have never hauled two big boxes of groceries up the hill so easily, with both hands free. Why didn't I buy one years ago??? I figure, I can't HAVE a sled dog, so I'll BE one. Woof!5 -
@PlaneMonkey - so sorry to hear of the passing of your dad! You and your mother are in my prayers.3

I don't understand it - I could have sworn that I posted my step and exercise stats yesterday. I'm sure I didn't imagine it!

@PlaneMonkey Courtney, my sincerest condolences on the passing of your father.... sounds like you two had a really special relationship and I can't imagine how hard it was to go through his turn for the worst that you described. Sending you all the strength as you get through this next while.1
-
@happimess01 Your pics are amazing, and thanks for sharing your week.
There is so much that goes into the journey. Sounds like you had a bit of it all this past week.
I almost always have a big cry when I'm super drunk too... feel you there.
Super impressed you tried skiing, I live in one of the most amazing places to ski but it just seems so daunting to me. Way to go.1 -
@conleywoods So fun you were able to enjoy that cooking experience with your son! Sounds like a lovely thing to do together

@PlaneMonkey So sorry to hear of the loss of your dad. Sending hugs and my deepest sympathy. I’m so glad you have such wonderful memories of him to hold on to. They will certainly help in the coming days. 🙏🏼❤️
I need to use that mantra as well.
@metaphysicalstudio Jenn Thank you for your kind words. It is crazy for sure. I think we may put the selling the house on hold for a while and instead just rent for a bit. Not sure. It seems to be changing every 30 minutes. 🤪
Hit my step goal today. Ran around pulling Juliet in the snow ❄️ then chipped away at some ice. I have been logging at the end of the day. I need to log as I go so I don’t get off track.
It’s been a bit challenging because I’m not paying careful to my eating. Went over 2000 calories today. Just thought of something I forgot to log. So need to work on that. This is going to be a drawn out stressful life event so I need to keep myself healthy and eating in control so I don’t end up on the other side with a big gain. Nope. Nope. Can’t let that happen.
Thanks for being here everyone.4 -
@ashleycarole86 steps. Sorry I’m late.

Today is a holiday here in the US, so no work. Most of the day was preparing for the work week and getting laundry done. No work out today. I did some sewing projects for the guinea pig cage since my first ones shrunk. I need to figure out a way to re work them so they are not wasted. Pre washed my new fabric today. Made a little couch for their cage which turned out pretty good and didn't cost $40 like the ones on etsy! I also made a hay bag.
Stayed in calories today just barely. Tried the chocolate chia seeds pudding and it was very tasty 😋 I think it is going to be a daily treat and has 17 grams of fiber!
My scale is either not moving or going up. I'm really frustrated and I thought my long break would help me jump back into weight loss. I have had some close to maintenance days but should be seeing a drop in pounds. I will just keep at it and hope my body is just being stubborn and will give in soon!2 -
@PlaneMonkey I am so sorry for your loss, Courtney. You and your family are in my prayers.hugs2
-
Ugh. I don't want to get on the scale tomorrow. I an just so off. I enjoyed taking the kids to brunch yesterday, since we were off. Then, I snacked all day. I am also ridiculously tired lately. I have been getting 7 hrs, which is usually enough for me.3
-
I'm sorry about your dad @planemonkey; he sounds like a wonderful person.
The second photo really struck me @happimess01 - you look so alive and like you're having a blast. The scenary is to die for, but so is your smile.
I hope everybody makes a full recovery soon, @waifer003.
@jugar The toboggan harness sounds cool, but I do read your posts and think it's a good job you love the snow! I don't think I'd be so excited about it; I hate driving in the snow, and I hate running in the snow.
I hope the guinea pigs appreciated your hard work @conleywoods!
Last night we went to the DIY store, then I put the first coat of primer on the airing cupboard walls and ceiling. Second coat tonight and potentially a coat on the woodwork too. I'm not going for perfection here because it's just a storage cupboard, but that first coat still took me about 2 hours. OH did some of my baking for me whilst I was painting; he made sausage rolls and chocolate muffins. Many of the muffins started trying to escape their cases - I have no idea how/why - but they taste great. I've had two of those, and three sausage rolls so I probably need to move them to the freezer after work.
Once again I didn't get to bed until 11.30 (was painting until after 10.30) then up at 5.15 for training. He worked on my hip flexors first, then we did 3x 1km runs (recovery, race and faster) but I was struggling a bit both with my hip flexors but also my breathing as it was -1 degrees C. After that he worked on my hip flexors again. I've seen the next 8 week program and where I'm supposed to end up... not convinced but we'll see! The conversation today was around my 'comfortable' pace actually being a recovery pace, and perhaps I'm almost always running in recovery rather than properly pushing myself, even though I never felt like I was recovered. Dunno. In any case, I've a 5K 'race' to run this week, and he just wants the fastest time I can do regardless of how I get there, then a 5k recovery run which is basically time on feet.
At lunch time I walked down to feed the ducks; they were desperate for food today and following me even once I'd run out. Lunch was left over pie from last night and tea is curry from the freezer.
I'm thoroughly worn out and pretty hungry now. I am aiming to get to bed earlier tonight!5 -
1/17 steps:
11,391 including 60 minutes of Orangetheory (25 treadmill and 35 rowing, weightlifting, stretching. Fitbit gave me 4634 steps for the workout)
I'm starting to feel more like myself, mainly due to consistent exercise. I'm really loving the barefoot style shoes although my running pace has dropped quite a bit as I've been adjusting to the different stride. I've already noticed some changes in my stance as my ankles and feet get stronger, so that's exciting!5 -
@PlaneMonkey losing my dad was one of the hardest things I've ever gone through. I am so sorry you're.goimg through it. Prayers for peace and comfort for your family.3

Happy Tuesday!
I just got back in from a good snowshoe - it's a balmy -15 C today 5 F that is. I'm just about to join a Ceilidh taking place in the UK! I have a great friend in Winchester who has been running these monthly gatherings for musicians through the pandemic. I have not been to one yet, so here I go!6 -
@planemonkey thank you, must be bcuz I am obsessed with checking out my reflection these days
And I am so sorry about your dad, that is heartbreaking. Your strength and attitude in the face of this tragedy is truly mindblowing, hats off to you!
@kellie_erin and @conleywoods Thank you! I tell myself that there are two ways I can win at any given day. It's either by staying within my calorie budget for that day. And if that doesn't happen, then the other way is by forgiving myself for overeating. That day was a win bcuz I was quick in forgiving myself
@jugar ofcourse I am sweet and wonderful, no question about it
@ashleycarole86 Thank you! Skiing was such a workout but still fun. And omg, didn't know crying after drinking was a common thing. Another reason to avoid drinking I guess
@DD265 OMG! that was such a sweet compliment. Thank you 🤗🤗

I just had a very celebratory apple crisp (gluten free so my taller half could enjoy it too!) with vanilla ice milk - SO good. It is now put away. I will NOT have any more. No.
Question to ponder - since we are heading towards the last part of January - what will keep you going into February? Are there things we can do together to keep on track and hitting those goals? All suggestions accepted.2 -

For me it's just continuing to be here every day, and to stay focused on my habits.
I have felt mentally tired from work, and I am glad I have put so much control around set habits so that I can go on auto pilot a bit.
So I think just ensuring you're always clear on which habits you're working on and keeping focus on those is really helpful.

I’ve been struggling to find my motivation but today we’ve started planning a summer trip - those tend to give me some motivation. There will be a lot of hiking so I’ll need to prepare!4

I went waaay over my calorie goal yesterday it was a combination of being very busy and very tired (mentally and physically) so I over ate. I did see a gain on the scales this morning but that's OK - I somehow managed to power through and the gain will drop off easily enough. As a result of getting so much done last night, this evening can be calmer.
I got the last of the baking done; sultana flapjack and chocolate oat & ginger biscuits, another coat of primer in the airing cupboard and that should be sufficient on the walls/ceiling now. Also got some more 'bits' ordered - it's amazing how many pieces are involved in upholstery and how long it can take to find the right thing at a good price. I will be making a roman blind, four cushions for the sofa, a window sill cushion (for the cats) and reupholstering our dining chairs, so there's quite a lot to get. Once I have all the materials together, I can arrange time with Mom and her sewing machine - she used to be a seamstress and has always wanted to teach my sister and I.
Tonight I will lightly sand and prime the airing cupboard woodwork. I also need to get some activity points; either a walk, a run, or I could go to the gym and use the rowing machine. Tea is a freezer jobby - spicy chicken pasta - so there's no time consuming cooking to do. Mostly I can't believe it's only Wednesday!2 -
@jugar I had a perfect day yesterday. I do not want to mess that up by hopping on the scale today. For this week only, I am going to weigh in Friday. Thank you.
I had a rough January so I am definitely looking forward to crushing my goals in February.3 -
@jugar Continuing to log my food daily motivates me into February. Also, getting in extra steps.
I have a busy day today as I start teaching again after taking some time off (since May). Spring semester begins this week and I feel hopeful and a little nervous (although I've been teaching for 15 years).
But I plan to stay positive and focused!

1/17: 20 minutes weightlifting + 31 minutes step aerobics + 5983 steps
1/18: 30 minute walk + 80 minutes yoga + 5582 steps
Mostly sat around at my computer on 1/18, getting ready for Spring semester and playing video games, and doing other work. But I was happy to get in a walk and some yoga.
Happy Wednesday, team! Weighing in today...in just a few moments.
