We are 2/3 of the way through January!
For anyone doing new things this year we are now 3 weeks in to your new plans!
It seems like January just began, but the end of the month is so much closer than when it began!
Let's finish this month and get a strong start for February!

Woke up to classic weather hysteria. We live in an area that typically gets dumped with lake effect snow, if weβre lucky itβs under 10 inches, sometimes itβs up to 20. But we all know how to drive in it, counties and cities have plows galore and stockpiles of sand and salt. But in recent years, thereβs been a βoh my gosh watch out thereβs 5β of snow headed our wayβ mentality. People go to the store and stockpile food. Schools call a snow day the night before it even hits. We were βsupposedβ to get 6 inches during the night and people went crazy. Woke up this morning to almost clear skies and a dusting of snow. I also know that itβs entirely possible that 10 miles west they might have been dumped on. Thatβs how lake effect works. It can be blizzard conditions in a 10 mile stretch only to have blue skies once you bust out of it. Itβs comical and frustrating all at the same time. Rant done.11

I figured I would post early because my Fasting starts now.
Exercise: Yes, I went cycling on my bike for about 25 minutes and did some stair climbing for about 20 minutes. (My legs feel it already)
Calories: Under, though I may have a small snack later before work.
Tracked: I always do.
Ever since I've started with MFP, I've been getting into some new habits. I know it's hard to break old ones but I've realized it's not so hard after the first 2 weeks or so. UPDATE: I fit back into an old shirt of mine! I tried it on about 2 months ago and I couldnt button it, but I'm back in it again! I can button it just fine without it being tight.
(For some reason it failed to upload -_- #stillnewatthis)

While I can technically count the day as 3xYes, the truth is today was not OK. I ate my planned breakfast and lunch and then ate a bunch of chocolate chips. So many in fact I'm still satiated. It's all nerves and anxiety. I've been mindful of that building up and trying to avoid it but didn't today. I have been working on solutions to help but might be a couple weeks out still. Until then just keeping the mindful approach, that's the best I can do for now. Doesn't help that the others at home are super anxious after being couped up and some sick and they are all eating some crazy stuff. It will be nice when their stress is also relieved.9 -

Today was such a snack temptation day - I finally had to grab some cruise outfits and put them on. When that didnβt work I went out after work and bought a torrid exercise outfit that just went to clearance (and is still WAY too expensive). Managed to stay under calories and Iβll use the outfit for my home zumba routines!

Yes x3 today. But barely. Struggled to get some exercise in. Struggled with snacking. Just one of those days, hopefully tomorrow I can get my head back in the game and do better than just squeaking by.5

Tracking - Yes β
Calories - Well under. Didnβt eat any exercise calories today and gave special focus to having a high protein and fibre day. I have been keeping under my total calories target each day this month, but over the past few days, I have been creeping into my exercise calories. β
Exercise - Yes - two rounds on the treadmill (every day, one always must be 30+ minutes). β
I have done 10,000+ steps every day Ianβs intend to continue doing so until the end of January. There are still many days when I genuinely donβt want to do it. The struggle is real.
But, every day, I get up from bed and put my socks and workout sneakers on before heading down the hall (yes, in my pajamas). It is helping force the situation and is a physical reminder of what I am supposed to be doing.
Thinking of everyone and what a hard time this January is serving up for so many. Sending encouragement and positive wishes for better days ahead. π

It was close today. We had our weekly neighborhood "Drinks on the Driveway" and one of the neighbors brought a beautiful cheese board with crackers and bread. After consuming some cheese and crackers with my wine, I decided that this will probably end up being a pass day. Was going to go for more, but then decided that even if it was a pass day, I shouldn't go hog wild. Came back inside and decided to log it. Even estimating that I ate about 4 ounces of cheese, I was within calories if (and only if) I didn't have my usual nightly square of chocolate. Like I said, it was a close call, but decided to have some tea instead.10 -
3 Yesses but there was a lot of approximating when I tracked. Have already used more than 4 Pass Days so you know how that goes. π
Exercise was a 30 minute walk with 1 lb hand weights (legs needed a rest from running). Then after the walk I used dumbbells for 5 minutes. I know 5 minutes isn't much, but hey, it's better than nothing! π6 -
@enlightenme3 Hey that sounds like a great success. It sure is telling to track everything- it's often not as dire as we first think. Thanks for sharing
@jamcnewman Great strategy for getting yourself in the zone.
One inspirational quote a lot of the Peloton instructors mention is shifting the focus from "I have to do this" to "I get to do this". Realize that may not land for everyone but it has helped me through some tough moments on the bike6 -

Hang in there. That sounds rough and you're doing just fine. Life happens and we do what we gotta to get through the rough spots sometimes. I hope things ease up soon and meanwhile I'm wishing you a ton of grace and self compassion. I hope you do some other good things for you today!5
