@mshawski Yes, definitely a thing. Gluten has opiode effects, at least for some sensitive people. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26825414/#:~:text=Gluten can be degraded into,on gastrointestinal lining and function.
I believe it is the book ¨The Mood Cure¨by Julia Ross (very good book, BTW) that goes into this more extensively, saying that sensitive persons get addicted to the gluten because their damage being done to their intestines is not being consciously felt by them but it is causing the body to release endorphins and it is then an addiction to the opiodelike effects.

Happy Lunar New Year and congratulations to all the winners! My nod to the Lunar New Year was to make an Asian Charred Cabbage Salad. A bit salty, but delish! I'll probably pay for it in water retention tomorrow.
I'm also officially 1 pound below my driver's license weight. :-)10 -

I am back on track and hoping to keep it up for February. Still not 100% with my recent thyroid flare but feeling a lot better (and so grateful).
I have upped my calories to my weekend level for all week - I felt like I needed to ease back into tracking and like starting at the low level was too low. Also, the low level was to make up for Friday takeout indulgence, and I am wondering if maybe I should just not do that -or keep it to once a month. Noticing that I feel sick after I overindulge, and then I feel hungry on Monday when I get back to the low calorie level. And the water retention differences are so annoying with frequent trips to the bathroom. Just not sure it's worth it for some deliciousness, when I am discovering I can still get the same delicious food and just parcel it out into 3 or 4 servings and then I get to enjoy it more without feeling sick. Things to consider...7 -
Feb 1 off to a great start; able to walk outside for the first time in AGES

This is my first post - here we go......
I'm finding breaking things down into smaller and more immediate goals helps me stay motivated.
To go along with the obvious "daily" goal, and the coveted monthly prize ..... I have my own "weekly" goals which I will include in my posts.
This weeks goal: eat breakfast, lunch and supper at least 5 days this week - you'd think that would be an easy one, but I tend to skip meals thinking I'll save those calories but end up feeling like I could eat the fridge near the end of the day - not good.
So.... 3 meals at least 5 days this week.
Exercise: Yes - 35 min Bodylastics Golf Workout
Calories: Yes
Tracked: Yes
3 meals: Yes
Passes: 0
Have a great week everyone

Congrats to all the winners! Great job!
I am happy to start a new month. I just finished up a multi-month project as of today and am ready to move forward mentally. My weight is settling in at a few pounds heavier than I would like so my goal this month is to focus on breaking through this mini set point. For me, this means dropping my calories for a while and doubling/mixing up my exercise. Overall I am feeling comfortable in my body and living within limits so that is a win for January.10 -
