Another very busy week. February is full of pastry-heavy holidays in my corner of the world. Yesterday was Runeberg day in honor of our national poet J.L. Runeberg whose most famous work is the Finnish national anthem. Most people only celebrate with a Runeberg pastry developed by his wife, including me. I’ve been having a pastry as an evening treat every day this week. Now that Runeberg season is done, we’re getting ready for Shrove Tuesday, which isn’t until the end of the month but the Shrove bun season is well on its way. The shrove bun is a divisive issue across the nation, with hot debate over whether it should be filled with jam and whipped cream or almond paste. Yesterday my oldest childhood friend came over with her new spouse, and we did a shrove bun buffet with both options, and some modern silliness like nutella. I’m in sugar overload.5 -

@hipari When I didn't receive a response back from you, I simply filled in zeros. I tried several times with no response. I already announced the winners for the month, so really no need to fill in now. I never added you for February as each month requires a registration request for it. Based on my accumulated steps this month, thanks to the first few days, I'm tempted to try for a 300,000 step month. That's tougher in a month with only 28 days as you need to average just over 10,714 steps/day. But five days in, I'm at 54,719 steps (5 x 10,715 = 53,575).
Still, I'm not ready to change my step goal. I first need to see how it goes this week.5 -

@pupowl I'm really missing your photos and stories lately...hope you're doing well and enjoying some "down time". How are your plants doing? Must be nice to have a green thumb. My Mom was always like that too...plants really loved her. She took such pleasure in changing out her flower garden, filling up the front porch planters, taking care of her lilac bush and her peony bushes. I just enjoyed the time with her, shopping for the flowers and listening to her sing as she worked in the garden.
We had a few snow flurries for a short period of time. I think it was just Ms Snowbird (@jugar) sending the flakes to torture me because she loves snow and knows that I don't. LOL!! It only lasted about an hour...I survived! hehe By the way, would love to see a picture of your snow sometime...I know you have TONS of it.

Hope everyone is having a great Sunday...gonna go back to my book. Trying to decide what veggies to steam for dinner tonight. Wish I had another day before Monday hits...I'm scared to look at my work emails after ten days away...UGH, it's gonna be wretched.

IMO, half a pound a week is a good realistic goal. Yes, it takes time, but it is easier to maintain proper nutrition when you don't try losing too fast. And setting a more ambitious goal can backfire if you allow yourself to be discouraged if you fail to achieve it.
Ironically, I currently seem to be able to lose more weight more easily when I've set an easier goal for myself.6 -

Hello Jessica! I haven't really been up to much. The weather is still all over the place. It's mostly been too windy to go to the forest and I am focussing on the gym more, so my energy isn't very high. It looks like this Saturday will be nice though, so I plan to go out for a walk then. I need my nature fix; it's been too long.
My plants seems to be doing well! I already forgot to water them once, but it was only a day late so not a biggy. Tinus is eyeing them a lot and he will sometimes attempt to chew on a plant, but he hasn't really damaged any yet. I started a new jigsaw puzzle and I ordered 2 new ones a few days ago. I really loved the geisha one with the weird pieces so I bought two more from that same brand/artist. One of them is 2000 pieces which I have never done, so I am excited to see how long it will take.
My food and weight has been a bit of a rollercoaster. I am really ashamed of myself and how off the rails I went in January. I am trying hard to sort this out again and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now (oh so dramatic). I hope that when I come back in March I will have lost most of the weight I managed to gain back in 1 month.
Hope you and everyone else is doing well too! I may not post much, but I am still reading along every day.
