I really didn't want to post this. I know some of it's from birthday dinner and subsequent nights of cake (my husband made me carrot cake!) and some of it's from my stupid cycle.
But this past week has been pretty *kitten* despite the birthday and getting back to the gym. I've been once again ghosted by my master's supervisor. My company made a job for another engineer-in-training even though they told me they couldn't do that for me. It's hard not take that personally. And I've been experiencing a lot of pain. So my mental health baseline is just shot. But it's been shot for such a long time that I'm starting to wonder if that's just the new normal for me.
Here's hoping next week is better. I appreciate reading about everyone's successes and struggles. All your perseverance is inspiring!
I'm glad you posted, even if the birthday and other factors made it a number you aren't too fond of. At least you know exactly why it is that way, and it far from the worst splurge week gain I have ever seen!
I'm very sorry, though, to hear about your supervisor. I think it is time to go talk with the dean's office. There should be an associate dean (or vice-dean) who is responsible for graduate studies. This is terrible behaviour on the part of your supervisor, and I think you need to go ask for help. Take it personally, for sure - and make sure that your voice is heard. This is exactly what an associate dean is there for. As to work, that is another issue that needs to be brought to light. Get an advocate to go with you for both conversations if that helps. Plan your points in advance, and be strong - you certainly deserve better treatment or a clear explanation of why you are being treated this way. If it is unsatisfactory, I hope you are looking for another job. It is so hard, but having been an associate dean grad studies, I know that it is the way to go. For work, there must also be someone you can talk to who is above the people undercutting you. Those kinds of meetings can feel daunting, but it is always easier than it seems once you get into it. You're there to get help, and helping you is a big part of their jobs. Message me if you want some prep support
PS. Husband-made carrot cake is manna from heaven! Mine makes the best - but maybe they could have a recipe challenge!4 -
@jugar I might take you up on that. This weekend is going to be my planning and thinking weekend about school and work. I vented to my mom and stepdad and hubby at a birthday breakfast and I have some thoughts about what to do next. I know hormones are making stuff worse. But hopefully I'll feel better about everything when the weekend is done4

Wow - I can't believe how many pages that I had to read to catch up! But I like to see how everyone's doing.
The past week has been one of two halves - both good and bad.
GOOD - I have managed to achieve my goal of 4 workouts, including 2 strength workouts (using very light weights) and a forest walk. So I will report on my step and exercise stats once again tomorrow, Ashley @ashleycarole86 (daily step target 7000 steps). And I have been very mindful of my water intake too, so I have averaged 1.5 litres a day.
BAD - my daily weigh-ins continue to climb, so tomorrow's weigh-in will be on the plus side.
Here's my plan to fix my bad habits (of snacking and generally eating all the bad things).
Every other day I just don't! I can manage perfectly well if I just tell myself "just for today". If this proves successful, I shall try to be good 2 days out of 3, and so on.
Wish me luck!

I managed to go for 2 runs and a swim this week. Big win for me to get moving instead of just working. I really need to track what I eat to stay headed towards my goals.
I’m headed back to the us for a short week of travel starting Tuesday. Looking forward to seeing my son. It’s interesting that I don’t really have an cravings for American foods besides Fresca 💕💕💕6 -
I'm really sorry guys, it is a gain for me this week 😢

@ashleycarole86 ah! I just got home from the movie - hope you guys enjoyed it as much as I did! Awesome cast. It was so engrossing, I actually never got up to get snacks, so that was an unexpected bonus. (But then I made myself popcorn at home since I had planned on the treat - probably with less salt than at the theater though!)
I got a little snacky this afternoon, so I am going to take one more walk now before bed.
A little victory this morning - since it's the weekend, I told myself to stop at just 1 mile jogged on my walk instead of going for the 1.25-1.3 I've been doing. So I stopped at 1 and kept walking but then I saw a bunch of other morning joggers headed up this rather steep incline on my path. And I said to myself, why not just jog the hill so you get your heart rate up again and earn some more fitbit zone minutes. And then I didn't stop at the top and ended up jogging an extra full mile!
I don't know if I mentioned but I did something to my right foot in late November, I think. So I had been putting off trying to jog/run again and icing/resting the foot, but it wasn't really responding to rest. The last few days have been a LOT of steps but I do think it is healing, slowly but surely. So that's nice.5 -

I missed my morning break several days at work, so this made me think, “I can eat more at night.” Silly me.
I stopped unplanned night snacking on Thursday, & I was able to pull out a loss.
I haven’t seen this weight since Fall 2020.5 -
@ashleycarole86 yesss I'm still on a high, I want to go see it again hahaha! currently watching all the interviews I can find with the cast on youtube.

sheesh. good week for me. feeling pretty motivated today as well - I once again told myself to do just 1 mile today, and ended up going over 2 and pushing myself to a sprint finisher. Who is this??
I'm also very excited to have my favorite soup for lunch - tomato basil bisque. I use Campbell's, which isn't sodium/calorie-friendly, but it is delicious. Maybe I can concoct my own slow cooker version this year. Doing lots of meal prep today, some light house cleaning, and another session of Sculpt & Shred. Almost all my workouts this past week and likely coming up are from the FitOn app, if anyone is interested. Totally free workout videos. Love the different trainers and styles of workouts available.
Happy Sunday, friends.7 -

Adding only 0.4 after a week where you lost 5.8 is fantastic! It is so easy to bounce back when a change has been that big. Good job! This one is a huge fave at our house. Roasting the tomatoes seems like it will be a royal pain, but it is really easy and makes a huge difference in the final result. I use all fresh tomatoes when they are flowing in from the garden, but the combo of roasted fresh Roma tomatoes and the canned tomatoes works brilliantly too.146.5
I haven’t seen this weight since Fall 2020.
Let's get a great week going!

We've completed another week, folks! And with some awesome numbers up on the spreadsheet, we've set ourselves up to have a successful month. Can we do it again next week? Can we do even better?
Take a look at last week's results in the links below:

It was our friends' daughter's first birthday yesterday. She basically made my year by crawling into my lap and hugging me, which was omg. Turns out being chosen for baby cuddles is just as incredible as being chosen for puppy or kitten cuddles.
I don't really want kids but I'm happy to cuddle anyone else's lol.
Anyways, we ate cake and pasta and cheese and all those delicious and terrible things so my weight kinda isn't good today. Alas.
It was so good to see our friends though. We haven't seen much of them or baby V at all since she was born.4 -
@terytha baby cuddles are amazing! So glad you got some - and she got Amber cuddles for her birthday 0.2 pounds was totally worth it.
We have 3 young raccoons outside snarfing up all the sunflower seeds the birds have heaved on the ground from the feeder. They are probably last summer's kids, now kicked out while mom has a new litter soon. They are too funny. Two of them are always within touch of each other. Adorable little monsters. Photo in the spoiler.6 -
@DD265 Hope you're having a great time in Dubai. Can't wait to hear all about it. Thanks for getting your step report in from the road!
@deniners2 Great consistent progress this year.. keep up the great work and congrats on hitting that milestone!
@Kali225 Back with a vengeance!! Grab onto that motivation and ride the wave. Continue to demonstrate your impressive habits - they're clearly effective!4 -
Hi everyone! Trying to catch up a bit on posts. My brain is still on overload and my stress ball tummy has been high today. I wish it would stop. Not sure how to make it happen. Keeping busy is helpful but I think I’m going to do some Pilates stretches.
I wanted to share that I had some bloodwork done before I leave my dr. She said my lipid panel was the best she’s seen for me and was very happy with my numbers. My HDL is high so it skews my numbers upward, but I’m closer to 200 than I’ve been in a number of years. Yay! My vitamin D is closer to normal too. So keep taking that Vitamin some more. Happy to hear that. One little bit of protein in my urine to keep an eye on, but it could be dehydration. So I hope that was it.
Off to go stretch. One week from tomorrow the movers will be here to pack the few things they are packing. Then loading the next day. I can do this.

Good day around here today! Enjoyed our friend's child's 3rd birthday party... they did a pancake bar with toppings but I had eaten before I got there so I enjoyed one with fruit and was satisfied.
Brad and I took our dog and my Mom's dog for a long walk as the sun was too good to pass up today! Also got on the Peloton.
My mom had ordered fried chicken for lunch and again I just didn't eat for the sake of it.. I had two chicken tenders that I looked up the info on and tracked and moved on.
So, basically I had a lot of random food scenarios come up and I handled them with ease.
Fish dinner tonight.. looking forward to it!6 -
Thanks for the news! It is so good to hear about enjoying the people without going overboard on the food @ashleycarole86 and about good blood results in spite of all the tumult @micki48

@jugar Thank you. The corrections have just started going well. I was dealing with a mental block for weeks. I believe as I get my routine together, it would get better. Thank you for having me back7
