I haven't been posting much but have been following along and hitting Like/Hug as appropriate. It was super hot here (90F) but I tried to get in a few runs. Then it dropped into the low 80's and yesterday if barely hit 70! I am running what I can and walking when the running makes my arm hurt. I found yesterday that the 'speed walking' doesn't hurt my arm because there is less bounce. It is really hard on my glutes though(?) It was gorgeous out yesterday which really made me want to run more but I tried to 'listen to my body'. I enjoyed seeing so many birds; pelicans, egrets, geese and ducks, killdeer, hummingbirds and swallows. An osprey flew right over us as did a sharp-shinned hawk. I even saw a CA kestrel which was a treat as I haven't seen them in this area for a while now. The river and ponds I run near are a protected bird preserve and there are lots of nesting birds at this time of the year. There are nesting boxes all over and most seem to be occupied. I am looking forward to seeing all the baby birds in a few weeks!

On the spit of land across from the pelicans there is a black-crowned night heron (white spot near the upper dirt edge) and all kinds of geese and ducks that are difficult to see. The other whitish spots are the nesting boxes

Have to include a picture of Hobbes the Vizsla looking very hot from a run earlier in the week

I saw the ortho last week too. He believes I have completely torn the long head biceps tendon. I am waiting to get a MRI scheduled to confirm it and then will go back to hear what the fix is. Most likely arthroscopic surgery to reattach it. In the meantime I am not to do any housework, cooking, cleaning, yard work, etc. (asked if I needed a note 😂) but I am allowed to walk or run as long as I stop if it hurts. He is a sports ortho and understands the desire to workout and to run.

I don't think I will make the 100 mile club again this month but will hopefully get a couple more outings in before the end of the month. It is pouring rain today with thunder and lightening. Yay! because we need the rain so badly but I am not going to go out for a run in it. I suspect agility class will also be canceled but even if it isn't I am not sure Hobbes or I need to take a chance running on wet slippery grass.

    119.27/100 miles completed for March

I didn't post yesterday, but I did run 4 miles before I went to Ft. Worth. Ot was perfect running weather and I had a great run. It was also a nice day for a drive. Bass Hall in Ft. Worth is about 2 hours away and I rode with 3 of my sisters. We met our Mom and oldest sister there. It was a great time. We always have a lot of fun when we get together.

I took today as a vacation day and so I slept in a bit before running. I had decided that I wouldn't try to run long yesterday and so I ran 10 miles today. It was really nice again but warmer than yesterday. Yesterday it was 56°F with a light wind. Today it was 61°F at the start and 71°F by the end. There was still a light wind so it wasn't too bad. And I am over the cold weather so I really didn't mind. I did get kind if thirsty though and about halfway through the run I realized that I hadn't rinsed my bottle out well and it tasted soapy. For a lot of the run I felt like I could run forever. I was ready to be done by the end though because it was getting warm. My husband took the afternoon off so after lunch we took the dogs up to the park for a short walk. The path there is 1K and at 12 and 14 that is really about all the walk they can handle. They seemed to really enjoy it though.

Love all the birds @shanaber. I hate to hear about the arm.

So happy they have reopened the gyms at work. When I run with my friends in the town where I work I don't have time to go back home and get a shower so having a facility across the parking lot from my office is very handy. I'm sure my co-workers appreciate it also.
Hahahah @Teresa502 . They probably are. I don't have showers available in town either, so, if I play tennis before work, I always take a bag with a wash cloth, etc so I can at least wash off and change clothes before heading into the room with the kids. They have no filter, so I'm sure I would hear it if they thought I "smelled."

@SummerSkier Is getting another horse to care for a possibility? I hope you can find some friends to play tennis with. It's hard when your circle doesn't include that. I found mine by joining a league for a couple of years. Even though you don't really want to do that, it is a way to connect with other tennis players that are at, or near, your level of play.

@shanaber I'm sorry that running hurts your arm. Sounds like speed walking is a good alternative until you get it repaired. Love your pictures and Hobbes is hot, but adorable. Good idea to skip a slippery agility class, if they have it.

@kgirlhart Sounds like a great time with your family. So, you are one of 5 girls? Any boys in your family? Sounds like you had a great run yesterday and a nice walk with the dogs and hubby. I hope your return to work today goes well too.

@katharmonic Congratulations on your bench press PR!

Great mileage this month @SummerSkier. Hope you can find some fellow tennis enthusiasts.

Gorgeous photo @Aine8046 – welcome home!

I can’t even imagine running in the 90F weather yet @shanaber. It’s been so chilly here the last few days. What a treat to get to see all those birds and I love Hobbes! I hope you can get your MRI scheduled soon so that you can get your shoulder all fixed up.

@kgirlhart – nice running! Glad you had fun in Ft. Worth.

Congrats on your weight lifting PR @katharmonic!

Thanks! The next couple of days are supposed to be really nice. Of course I have to work all day in the office where I'm in a cubicle farm and can't see outside both tomorrow and Thursday and have a work-related dinner on Thursday evening. But the paycheck keeps coming so I will stop complaining! Spring fever is a real thing!

    124.42/100 miles completed for March

I ran 5 miles this morning. The weather would have been perfect if it wasn't for the 20 mph winds. All in all it was a nice run, but I was feeling kind of tired. Only 2 more days of "streaking". I don't know how @alphahowls does it.

We did have a good time in Ft. Worth @scott6255, @Teresa502 and @quilteryoyo and yes, I am one of 5 girls and no boys. My dad was outnumbered, but he ended up with 9 grandsons and only 2 granddaughters.

@Teresa502 Sorry you are going to be stuck inside most of the day today and tomorrow. I'm fortunate that I'm not working, so will be able to get out and get some much needed work done, I hope.

Nice run on the treadmill @Scott6255 .

Nice running @kgirlhart . It's so hard to run in a strong wind. Love the picture of your family. I imagine 6 girls in one house was a lot to deal with at times.

    58.50 miles/60 mile goal

I knew I was going to have a very active day, so I went out and walked a total of 1.0 mile for warm up and cool down and then ran 1.0 mile without stopping - all on the driveway. The run was 12:16 minutes. Not bad for my driveway. Then, mom and I went over to the field and cut and hauled some of the smaller cedar trees for about 1.25 hours. After resting a few minutes, I used the Gator and log chain to pull a couple of trees out my lawn that had fallen over the winter. (Calories and time not counted.) Another short rest and I went out and used the weed eater to cut down the high spots in the lawn, picked up the big limbs out of the yard and down the edge of the driveway, and used the leaf blower to get the debris off of the porches and part of the driveway. (Getting ready for the first mowing after I change the oil in the mower.) After another short rest, I went out and sprayed my car off and used a brush to get it sort of clean. I had parked under trees at work and the birds were "active." (Calories and time not counted.) I'm beat.

Nice running and picture @Aine8046 !

Just a short 2 miles today. It was a nice run. Not as windy as yesterday, but still pretty windy. Tomorrow is the last day of the streak. I have enjoyed streaking, but I am kind of looking forward to a rest day.

@quilteryoyo You are amazing! I don't know how you do it!

@rheddmobile - I am so happy you are ok! I saw the string of tornadoes on the news going over/around Memphis and was worried about you!
I hope everyone else in the storms' path are safe!

I got in a short 4.5 mile run today. Hoping to maybe get in a couple more tomorrow afternoon/evening. Have a busy day of things that must get done and the run will have to be afterwards.

Thanks @kgirlhart . Great job on your streak this month.

@rheddmobile I'm so glad to hear that you and your mom are okay! Sorry about your leg being worse than you thought. I hope the rest was all it needed and it will hold up to a run today.

@shanaber Great job on your "short" run! Thanks for setting up April's challenge. Hard to believe it's that time already. Where did the first quarter of the year go?!

Thanks @Scott6255 Yesterday was a busy day, but things must get done when the weather and work schedule allows.

It was raining this morning so no run for me and I have a dinner/work meeting after work so no run today. I did walk on the treadmill for 1.5 miles this morning after my strength workout. I finished the month with 91.65 miles. A little short of my 100-mile goal but that’s ok because I got a couple of good long hikes on the AT in this month. Moving on to April!

You have a lovely family @kgirlhart! Great job with your streak!

Lots of good cross training for you @quilteryoyo!

I’m glad your leg injury seems to be doing better @rheddmobile. Also very glad the tornado did not touch down near you or your mom.

Thanks for setting up the April challenge @shanaber.

You did great @Teresa502 . The rain missed us today, for the most part. Got a drizzle last night. It's been windy again today, though. I hope you can enjoy your work dinner.

@AlphaHowls I'm glad you checked in. I didn't realize that you and your mom have had falls. I don't know how you keep up the HM streak with all that is going on with you. You are truly amazing.

It was almost 4pm before I got home and I am going to open at the daycare in the morning (be there at 6:30 am), so I did a treadmill walk of 1.75 miles. I had intended to only do 1.50 to make an even 60 miles, which was my goal for March, but when I looked at the monitor, I was past that, so just walked on to get another quarter mile. I'm such an overachiever. LOL

7 miles this evening. Not a bad run for being a pretty warm 68F and 20mph wind. But needed to get outside, and glad I did. That finishes March with just shy of 130 miles. See y'all in April ☺️

    132.46/100 miles completed for March

I ran 6 miles this morning to finish out March with 132 miles and completed the streak. That is my second highest mileage month. When I got up the weather app said probable rain at 5:45 so I was prepared to get wet, but no rain ever came and it was a nice morning for a run. I have really enjoyed streaking this month. But I am looking forward to a true rest day tomorrow.

Congratulations to all who met their goal this month and if you didn't, that's OK. There is always next month. See you all in the April thread!

Seeing on the news that there are so many severe storms across the US again. I hope everyone is safe!

I didn't end up getting any miles in today. There were just too many things going on that needed to be addressed. So I am wrapping up the month with 78.91 miles - gah! that number bugs me... should have at least done 1.1 to get to a nice even number 😂

On to April! Great running this month everyone...

I know what you mean @shanaber ! You did great, especially since you have been injured.

Hey everyone! Another busy week, but I did manage three runs this week. I have a race this morning, but I’ll post after in April.

*hugs* to everyone with injuries! Stay safe, my friends!
