Sorry I missed weigh in this weekend. I was asleep. I'm not even kidding, I went to bed around 9 pm Friday night and barely moved until this morning. I'm still tired.
I have never experienced fatigue like this. I just can't... move. And when I'm asleep I have horrible nightmares.
I don't even know what to do anymore.
I'm at 183, anyway. Weight loss is a struggle too.11 -
Weigh in day: Monday
PW: 170.6
CW: 168.6
Anyone take a gain as the absolute truth and take full responsibility for that gain BUT is leery of a loss and give the credit to a "faulty" scale. I am a work in progress. That said, I am tickled to find myself back in the 160's. The last time I was here was June of last year. Looks like more movement was the key for me. Dusted off the ol' Wii and did some 'Just Dance' with my youngest. We then sparred in a 'boxing' match with Wii Sport. Fun is the key to get me moving

Feeling good about my progress!
@Msmclane Haha I definitely feel you about having to double check the scale when it actually goes down. Congrats on moving forward in your journey! I’m a huge fan of playing Just Dance as a way to be active. It’s so much fun and doesn’t feel like exercise. 😁6 -
@jugar
Can I get one more row added to the step challenge section for this month? Thank you! Miscounted the first time
@Tcathey45 Thanks for your first week of steps! Even though we're in August, our weeks run Sun-Sat which means Sunday, July 31 is actually day 1 of our challenge. If you have steps for July 31 to add, that'll round out your first week!
My exercise catch-up for week 1:
8/5: 10783 steps + 31 minutes Peloton
8/6: 5883 steps
Last call for my last few step challenge teammates for week 1! If I can get your steps today, that would be fantastic.3 -
Congratulations @CupcakeCrusoe and @ells_bellz August Week 1 Team Winners!! Well done!2

@jugar Thank you for the dread pep talk!😆 I made it to my appointment and the results weren't terrible by any means. I'm just maintaining. I told her I felt dreadful of my appointment but I posted on here and then gave it some deep thought. She said it's pretty common for people to just cancel their appointment and she was glad I came anyway. At first I felt like I was such a failure and I just couldn't get it together. When I step back my calories are good and workouts are too. It's just my macros and 2 out of 3 is a good place to keep working from. It basically just comes down to me saying yes I will choose to prioritize my macros. I definitely am very regimented during the school year and my job takes a lot of careful management to insure every child has their session for the week. During summer I really enjoy being the total opposite. I just need to embrace that food/nutrition me as a more consistent part even in summer.6
-
@conleywoods the discussion about macros is always an interesting one. I have never been particularly attentive to macros, but when things come to a crunch, I do try to balance them better. Out of the 3 things (calories, exercise, macros), it is probably the area where being "off" has the fewest consequences. For me, the macro that makes the biggest problem is fat - sugar can get high without too much problem, but if fat does, I have to watch out! High carbs can also be an issue, but I eat very little grain, which helps a lot with the carbs. Instead of tracking macros, I usually try very hard to keep as much of my intake as possible from whole sources. Few grains, plenty of vegetables and fruits in whole form, no juice, not much added sugar. Then just add some protein and a bit of fat and all goes well. Maybe try aiming for fewer numbers and more the source? In any case, it is good that you are going at it with support, intelligence, and fortitude!
That said, I had one of those no-tracking, lots of stupid stuff days. I figure it is good to throw the whole system off once in a while, right? Back to normal tomorrow.
@christhiann and @MsMcClane - well done!! Both of you bring up a great point - exercise should be fun. Sometimes it won't be, but it sure helps to burn some calories while having a great time and being goofy!
@Terytha - yikes. I hope you feel better soon! Your bout of covid seems to have sent you for a longer ride, so make sure you see your doc if it goes on much more. Hugs flying to you3 -
Wow, what a lively weekend for our group, some fantastic losses too! I came back to 61 new messages so I am copying @CupcakeCrusoe and declaring bankruptcy
What a crazy day, I've been on the go all day for one reason or another and have been fighting the urge to buy a greasy fast food burger, I'm not even a burger eater, it's a reaction to external factors that are out of my control and annoying me.
The weekend was an interesting one, we had tickets to see Nora En Pure and were not allowed in the venue as Mr B had on flip flops and they told us they are 'dangerous' and he didn't have any other footwear (it was a late gig so there were no shops open to buy any either). I was also wearing flip flops but I guess the women's ones aren't dangerous
I did really well with my water intake, activity and tracking and am looking to build on all three this week

@eggfreak so very sorry to hear about your mom.
@ashleycarole86 pretty shocked to see that I met my goal each day in July but sadly that will not be the case for this month!
@lauren_989 about your 1 mile jog, good for you and that sounds like a competitive pace to me!
steps & exercise a bit late this week - and a bit light the last few days, I am definitely feeling the toll of a weekend away. so much eating out and not enough movement. braced for an u-g-l-y weigh-in tomorrow but trying to see past it. Unfortunately, I have 1 more weekends in a row with visitors and travel so even more eating out. I am going to try to be strict about eating. And I am starting the move into my new apartment which means my whole evening after work will be taken up by trips with boxes, so I have NO idea how I am going to get my workouts in!! STRESSED.

@eggfreak Sylvia, I am so sorry to hear of your mothers passing. Sending hugs and love your way. Take your time to recover from your loss. ❤️
I had an absolutely lovely weekend with my friend. It was so needed. I did really notice my feet and ankles feeling stiff and swollen. Contacted my doctor today and told her I wanted to go back to my old lower dosage of bp meds. I’m monitoring my bp at home. It was really good today. 117/78. I think the swelling is connected to some of my weight gain.
@Terytha I understand about that tiredness. I have noticed since my bout with covid that my resting heart rate is much higher and I get tired faster.
@ashleycarole86 Hope it’s not too late.

Hey all!
Feeling pretty busy lately. Work is a zoo, a key person is retiring in 5 weeks (just announced) and they haven't done a very good job with succession planning / knowledge transfer.. feels like it's going to be a whirlwind. There will be lots of changes I'm sure, so we'll see what happens.
Otherwise, I have my Mom going through a fair amount of appointments, and we're trying to keep healthy meals flowing, we are at the lake for the weekends, fitting in some friend time, and Brad's priority is to continue his training for his September Gran Fondo. I am fitting in the Peloton where I can but between work and home commitments I feel a bit time rushed. Making sure my sweet little dog gets her walks is a priority too so I'm just doing what I can.
For example, after quite a long walk tonight I didn't have it in me for the Peloton too, but I wanted to ride, so I compromised with myself and did a 10 minute low impact class where you do drills and work on skills.
One fun development is that Peloton released a 2 weeks to inversion program so I'm doing that yoga collection hoping I will build into a handstand. We'll see how it goes but if nothing else it's strength and flexibility building. When I was a kid I did gymnastics at a pretty high level for a few years and I remember all the splits, sit ups, and so on.. oh to go back to that level of fitness now!
Step report to come tomorrow! So fun to see so many participants this month.

I'm with you on the prioritisation @ashleycarole86 - was having the conversation with my trainer this morning. Openly admitted that I felt too busy to run this past week, but there was so much procrastination in my days that I could easily have fit it in if I'd chosen to do so. I did get plenty of other things done, just not the running!
Yesterday I hit my targets, so aiming to do the same today.- 2 L water - halfway there and it's not even 9am
- intentional exercise - done with trainer (mainly overhead press)
- track all calories - have pre-tracked what I know I'll eat, will amend weights and snacks
Today's plan is work, allotment, a couple of chores at home and sorting another bag of clothing from the loft. Also, I think I'll end up in bed a bit earlier tonight because I am tired. OH is on a night shift again so if I do stay up late, there's nobody to blame but myself.5 -
Tuesday Weigh-in
PW: 244.9
CW: 249.7
Actually not as bad as it could have been - I was expecting more like 8-10 lbs gained. And I am fairly confident most of it is just bloat from eating out, salty food, etc. So on we go!
I know we have all been saying it but this heat is unbearable. Just walking to the train this morning made me actually angry with my body. Being so overweight, I am typically uncomfortable in my clothes and the sweat and humidity makes it so much worse! I need 60 degree days back. And then precipitously colder than that, please!
I know someone mentioned it, but I also can never attach a picture file from mobile on my android. Works on desktop though.4 -
So I don't even know what happened the past two weeks! I kept meaning to check in and then I guess my ADD got the better of me

PW: 138.8 (I think)

I've been so slacky in my workouts but I gotta get back on the wagon. I've noticed just how sensitive my body is to being sedentary at all, so I think I'm just going to have to be super vigilant4 -

Yay! Our second Ashley is back You are so right about the sedentary effect. Any movement at all helps - bonus weight-loss for the sweaty kind. Of course, that is just getting out of bed in the hot weather some places right now We're happily back down to something reasonable, almost cool, even though it is still terribly humid.1 -
I am SO sore today from my flexibiltiy work for this yoga inversion program.
Today is hollow body and line work (so it says) so my body is likely going to be feeling all the new things all week.
Work stress is high - lots of change is coming which will require a re-org, and a broader scope of my role. Getting more and more entrenched at a higher level. Takes a lot for me to get there mentally - stuck between wanting to progress / achieve and the toll it takes on other aspects of life.
Careers are such a balance. I've had lots of thoughts lately that I wish I'd gotten into something that combined physical movement with my workday (nursing, perhaps?) A thought I'd never had before, but it seems so efficient!3 -
@christhiann nice loss!!!
@MsMcClane haha, yes!!! I never trust that a big loss but a big gain is the end of the world. Great job with your loss.
@ashleycarole86 haha, wait until you see my steps this week from work. I was actually planning on doing a flow yoga today, but I slept horrible. I haven't done yoga forever but I need to stretch my hip flexor.
@conleywoods great job going! I struggle with all areas in the summer. I gained 6ish pounds.😭4 -
I have had 3, YES 3, perfect days. I feel great about my fitness and nutrition. I do so much better with a schedule. I am feeling very bloated so I am hoping that doesn't mess with tomorrow's weigh in. I was down .5 on Saturday, and I didn't eat great on Friday, so I should hopefully still have a loss. 👍5

After 3 perfect days and how good you feel right now - do not let that number on the scale knock you if it is not the one you hoped for! You know you're on the right track and can keep building more of those beautiful days. Yes!!
@ashleycarole86 your inversion exertions sound intense! They match your work well right now, it seems. Hopefully your increasing responsibilities and larger role at work will (eventually) include some people to whom you can delegate while you get some minutes to go run around the block or hit the gym or something. Delegating while keeping yourself fit for duty is NOT shirking. Hang in there
Quick update before hitting the bike:

@KellyBgetsfit Hooray for 3 perfect days! That is something to be proud of. I am getting back on track and now have 2 perfect days! Hopefully I will join you for another perfect day tomorrow.
@ashleycarole86 Work sounds intense right now. Change is always hard to go through at work. Hang in there!2 -

Good morning WaistAways!

@CarolAnnM2 nice loss!
@Terytha I'm so sorry you're having such a rough go of covid recovery. I definitely agree with @jugar that you should see your doctor to see what can be done if this persists.
@MsMcClane, nice, the 160s! and Just Dance is SO fun.
@christhiann nice loss!
@conleywoods I'm glad you recognize your life patterns might be different school year/not school year, and maybe it's okay for them to be a little different!
@LoraineGB so weird that they considered men wearing flip flops dangerous! Unless they were expecting a mosh pit, in which you don't want to fall?
@Kali225 I'm sure you'll make it! Posting here means you're thinking about it, which is half the battle.
@micki48 I'm glad to hear your bp is looking good. I need to monitor mine more frequently than I do.
@deniners2 oooh, nice ride and a curry! Sounds like a great day.
@ashleycarole86 ooh, inversion classes! That sounds so fun! I've always wanted to do inversions- I'm working my way toward doing them on the pole.
@DD265 early bedtime always feels decadent to me, I hope you slept well!
@MoonlitMuse I understand the sedentary thing, as well.
@KellyBgetsfit 3 perfect days! That's great!
Have a great day, everyone!

No change this week but I have a feeling I'll see a loss sometime soon 😊7

@CupcakeCrusoe going to bed early is something I find really hard! I did get into bed earlier, but it was so warm I struggled to get to sleep anyway - typical lol
I had a good day yesterday and I'm doing well today. Everything I've eaten so far is tracked, and I went for a walk at lunch time. I ate before I went, and although I wanted something else before I left, by the time I got back I wasn't bothered. May have been the three wild blackberries I scavenged on my jaunt.
In our last supermarket shop I bought some sugar-free flavoured sparkling water to start weaning myself off diet coke. This feels like a better choice, but it still has sweeteners in it, so I'm going to look into making my own at some point. I find sparkling water too sharp to drink without any flavourings, and our tap water here isn't as nice as it was in Yorkshire (still safe though!), so I always have sugar free cordial.
My time at the allotment yesterday wasn't hugely productive because the ground has gotten very hard. I ended up playing with my new-to-me pallet collars figuring out where they'd go; I'm going to stack two pairs to make raised beds; one for my two raspberry plants and one for the blackberry. Tonight I might be limited to watering the plants that need it!
Update for the tomato club - I finally have one going red8 -
I don't know if my Garmin wasn't on my wrist properly or not, but based on these heart rate readings, it looks like I only showed up to play the second half of the game last night!
Luckily we still won.... 😉
Still one more playoff game this week and today after work we will be mixing more cement and moving large stones in preparation for 3.5 tons of gravel being delivered tomorrow to backfill the hot tub pad.
I will be spending my day off on my birthday Friday with a rented compactor, compressing it all down!

After I posted yesterday, my mind went into overdrive and I had a full out crying meltdown before putting myself to bed.
Before that, I finished the day about 500 calories over thanks to a donut and wine and the exercise I thought I'd do but didn't.
Moving on. That's all I can do!
Will be back next with our week 1 step report!8
