Y'ALL I have not been below 155 in almost 2 years!
I've had a slow, but steady increase since.
I'm really liking the Metabolic Renewal approach!
Whew! I had a lot of posts to catch up on. Love seeing this group so active. I plan to be more active here this week.10 -

Hope it's just water weight because it's been so hot in Alberta. What is your favourite summer meals to make? I'm not finding much inspiration lately3 -
Monday! The ides of May and we have a frost warning through tomorrow. If we had a super freeze that hit hard for 2 days, just think how many ticks would die! Ok. Maybe not that good a plan since lots of little plants would be killed, too. Alas, I’ll just have to keep applying DEET to my body and permethrin to my clothes and try to prevent them from biting me.
But I digress.
I got a fair amount of steps in today filling in for a person delivering lunches in a large apartment building. It was a bit nerve wracking but fun at the same time.
Onwards to day 2. I’ll start tracking my food again this week.
Have a great night everyone.5 -
@adrimango congrats on getting under 155! Those long-time not seen milestones are a great feeling.
I was happy to get out into my big vegetable garden and till the first 2 beds and part of the 3rd. There are 8 in total, and I like to spread it out over a few days - it is a good workout for sure! I have not seen the garden this dry in the middle of May in years. It makes tilling a lot easier, that's for sure. Cold nights coming up so I'm not planting yet, but soon!
@ashleycarole86 my steps and stuff for yesterday and today:
Sunday 9256 steps + 15 minutes pilates
Monday 11015 steps + 15 strength + 15 Pilates + 30 bike4 -
Final call for week 2 steps (May 7-13)!
I am exhausted. I was up earlier than normal for a work from home day as Brad had to get to the airport. I worked from home, did laundry and ironing, cooked two HelloFresh meals we had to get made, did dishes, watered our tree and the grass, took the dog on two walks, rode the Peloton... the list goes on. I have not stopped moving for about 15 hours straight and the crash is coming.
One slight problem (gift.. problem??) I have as a person is the desire to do ALL the things. I tend to want everything done, always.. so it's hard to sit still and relax. With Brad away, there is only my hands for chores, so I sorta get in this zone. The problem is that eventually I burn out.
Anyway, that hasn't happened today.. in fact I took advantage of my zero commute to do a bunch extra in hopes that later when the wear of the work week and the commuting gets to me, future me will be thankful for everything today me accomplished!
See you tomorrow!5 -
Hello waistaway team! I wanted to stop in and say hi. I caught up on the past few pages of posts. @EvMakesChanges and @jugar I am so sorry for the loss of your brother. Sending hugs to you ❤
I am very close to finishing my masters program. I am making very good progress and should be done with everything in 3 or 4 weeks. I am definitely starting to think about returning to weight loss in the next few months or at least be working on fitness goals of some sort.
I saw my doctor for my annual exam and my blood tests looked good. I was working to raise my cholesterol which was very low and especially my healthy cholesterol. My HDL cholesterol went from 33 to 43! My total cholesterol went from 118 to 129. Really happy about that. My vit D was tested and was very low. Adding vit d supplements and sunshine.
The school year will end in 5 weeks and I am looking forward to summer break. I have been walking some, mostly hunting for morel mushrooms in the woods. My husband and I took over the big garden from my mother in law this year. I set up an outdoor area for the guinea pigs. My two original piggies love it. The two boy piggies I got from a rescue in March aren't too sure. Mostly I drive to and from events for kids, pick up kids from track or running club and then feed kids...repeat, repeat, repeat.🚗🚗🥴 Thinking of you all!6 -
I'm afraid I'm a bit behind on posts...ashleycarole86 wrote: »One slight problem (gift.. problem??) I have as a person is the desire to do ALL the things. I am exactly the same! I hope you got some down time.
I decided to have a (near) perfect day today. I say 'near' because I opened a can of energy drink; personal training at 6am before a full working day of back to back meetings is less than ideal. I'm trialling cramming as many meetings into Tuesdays as possible to free up other days in the week because it was already a busy one, but I'm not sure if it's viable long term.
Apart from the fact that I appear to have sprained my wrist overnight (no idea how), I had a good training session this morning. We did a couple of sprints on the rower - one long stroke length which hurt my wrist so then we did one with a short stroke length which felt incredibly awkward and inefficient - then some 50kg deadlifts and some 20kg back squats. Due to my wrist, he had me using straps on the deadlifts to reduce the grip required; I wasn't keen at first, but quickly got used to them and can see how they'd be useful if we wanted to bump the weight up quickly without weeks of building up to it.
This morning I decided to set myself a weight loss goal. I haven't decided what the goal is yet, or how to achieve it, but I'm leaning towards getting under 90kg (from 96kg-ish) as a starting point. I don't want to undermine the binge eating disorder therapy/tools I learnt, or what I learnt from the dietician, but my weight is slowly but steadily creeping up and I want to reverse the trend. I'm aiming to have a rough plan by the end of the day so I can sleep on it.

That was completely unexpected since last week got busy and resulted in very little exercise, plus 3 coffee splurges. I think managing my portions is the biggest factor, so I'm going to stick with this approach and see how it goes! Maybe eventually we can get some of these home repair things figured out so I won't have to spend my whole weekend hunting for doors and can actually go for a run....5 -

Fellow DoAllTheThings people! I assure you that it is a gift when you reach retirement and it gets harder to motivate yourself The inability to sit still is a good one - it keeps you going and prevents the human tendency towards couch potatoship. See it as a gift, but help yourself remember that too much of a good thing is still too much. Say no sometimes. But say yes a lot!

What a quiet Tuesday I trust it was due to everyone having a lovely day with many things to do.
@DD265 I hope your near-perfect day was brilliant! I am glad you will be setting yourself up for a modest loss, and your approach to making a plan and sleeping on it is a great way to begin. Stay flexible, aim for the positive feelings you will surely experience. DD power!!
We were supposed to have 100% chance of rain today, so I planned all kinds of indoor things to do. It hardly rained, and that not until 5 pm! So I got some more of the garden rototilled, picked rhubarb (but did not make pie!), and had a good workout. Now I'm heading to the sauna to sweat effortlessly! It doesn't burn too many calories, but it feels good.
Wednesday people get ready!

I'm laughing a bit at this last topic - the do everything - I suspect I am an annoying person to sit with (poor dad)...as I am always jumping up to do something that needs doing. But boy, it sure helps with sleep. I do try to stop sometimes and savor the time just enjoying the birds, the view, the garden but often that involves a glass or two of wine after a full day of doing.
@EvMakesChanges after thinking of it for a couple years, I finally sent off some old gardening duds to InsectShield - they do the pyrethrin spraying for you. and for the first time, I am tucking my pants into my socks. I'm in New England and the ticks are crazy here, and an increase in yet another nasty disease they carry is on the rise here (babesiosis).
Summer like weather in the last week...and too dry already -glad @jugar that you can turn your garden now but may it rain soon after please. It doesn't bode well for the summer.
I dropped some of my 'habits' pretty quick again after the start of the month but still trying to be conscious and make better choices.

Yesterday was the polar opposite of Monday... commuted in, had a mentally draining work day, and totally emotionally crashed at night. Got home, had supper #1, decided to eat a supper #2, and then some... just eating mindlessly and for the sake of it. And then I put myself to bed.
The air quality is really bad here right now so taking the little pup out for a walk was not an option, but I could have done something. I laid in bed, watched two Netflix movies, and stayed up way too late. Not even healthy from the perspective of getting myself to bed early! Oops all around.
Today is a new day. I do a dinner club with a couple of ladies I used to work with once a month and tonight is the night. Will try to do better on steps at least before I get there!2 -
