What a quiet Tuesday  I trust it was due to everyone having a lovely day with many things to do.

@DD265 I hope your near-perfect day was brilliant! I am glad you will be setting yourself up for a modest loss, and your approach to making a plan and sleeping on it is a great way to begin. Stay flexible, aim for the positive feelings you will surely experience. DD power!!

We were supposed to have 100% chance of rain today, so I planned all kinds of indoor things to do. It hardly rained, and that not until 5 pm! So I got some more of the garden rototilled, picked rhubarb (but did not make pie!), and had a good workout. Now I'm heading to the sauna to sweat effortlessly! It doesn't burn too many calories, but it feels good.

    Wednesday people get ready!

I'm laughing a bit at this last topic - the do everything - I suspect I am an annoying person to sit with (poor dad)...as I am always jumping up to do something that needs doing. But boy, it sure helps with sleep. I do try to stop sometimes and savor the time just enjoying the birds, the view, the garden but often that involves a glass or two of wine after a full day of doing.
@EvMakesChanges after thinking of it for a couple years, I finally sent off some old gardening duds to InsectShield - they do the pyrethrin spraying for you. and for the first time, I am tucking my pants into my socks. I'm in New England and the ticks are crazy here, and an increase in yet another nasty disease they carry is on the rise here (babesiosis).
Summer like weather in the last week...and too dry already -glad @jugar that you can turn your garden now but may it rain soon after please. It doesn't bode well for the summer.
I dropped some of my 'habits' pretty quick again after the start of the month but still trying to be conscious and make better choices.

Yesterday was the polar opposite of Monday... commuted in, had a mentally draining work day, and totally emotionally crashed at night. Got home, had supper #1, decided to eat a supper #2, and then some... just eating mindlessly and for the sake of it. And then I put myself to bed.

The air quality is really bad here right now so taking the little pup out for a walk was not an option, but I could have done something. I laid in bed, watched two Netflix movies, and stayed up way too late. Not even healthy from the perspective of getting myself to bed early! Oops all around.

Today is a new day. I do a dinner club with a couple of ladies I used to work with once a month and tonight is the night. Will try to do better on steps at least before I get there!

My heart is with you - flying through the smoke. Stressful days + bad air quality - not a great combination. You needed to fight the stress and you did. Today put the emotion you WANT to feel front and centre. You want to feel calmer, choose actions and foods that help you feel calmer. A minute of breathing every hour (somewhere with filtered air!!). A long, slow drink of cool water to cool you down. A short session of squats, rolldowns, stretches, whatever feels good. I call it my "old lady warmup" ever since I was about 40. Just stand there, wait a second, and see what your body wants to do. As to food, put that thought of calm or joy or whatever you're aiming for into your head. If you're angry and exploding with energy, go for some "angercise"! Blast out those steps or reps. As to food, ask if the food is going to get you to calm and happy for real and not just in the moment. Eat it! Sometimes that might be some indulgent food, but it hopefully won't be mindless eating without an end. You've got this

It is snowing. Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny but even colder. I hope the apple blossoms survive! They just opened...

Hey Canadians - could you please put out your fires? It's getting hard to breathe down here!

I say that jokingly, but the AQI of 190 last night (which I know still pales in comparison to Edmonton and Calagary and the like) nixed my plans to walk outside last night. Instead, my hubs and I measured the rooms for air purifiers...yay.

@jugar You know, it's interesting how many people use the sauna as a substitute for physical activity. I know you know that sweat doesn't equal burning kcals, but there are so many times I ask my patients about how their physical activity is going and they tell me 'oh really good, I went to the sauna the other day and sweated a lot'....I'm just glad that masks prevented my facial expression from being too obvious :D

Masks were SO great for that! I love the sauna for recovery from "real" sweating, but by itself, not so much.

I need advice! I've been working out a storm and playing lots of sports in a lot of fun new workout clothes but I'm having a huge problem finding undies that don't twist and bunch or ride up while doing squats or jumps or just pivoting. I'm not a fan of 'panty lines' so I've been purchasing athletic style thong underwear but at this point I'm getting desperate to find ANYTHING that will stop me from picking my wedgie after every set in my Tabata class! Does anyone have a recommendation or something that really works for them? It's really hard to fix your underwear under 3 layers of hockey equipment. I need a solution, this is nuts. I bought 15 new pairs and nothing works.
    Help!
(also, please don't laugh too hard! 🤣)

@PlaneMonkey I LOVE your question. But have no answers. I just wear boring underwear that probably gives me panty lines, but I don't really care as long as they behave. Denver Hayes. The dullest. They only give me troubles when they get old and loose. I hope you find something!!

I don't feel like I've 'done' anything to warrant that. That said, we've had plenty of fast food, some serious weight lifting, an injury, not enough water and not many steps/no running. I've also not been tracking my intake. So on balance...

    My 'plan' is:
    • Track everything (I will use the Practise Better app as I can just take photos/free text entry)
    • 5000 steps a day (have signed up for a Conqueror Challenge with a co-worker to motivate)
    • 2L water a day (soft drinks are 'on top' of my 2L if I want them)

I will start from there. I'm having no trouble with the muesli for breakfast and the smaller portions at lunch as per the dietician. Having photos of my food intake will make it easier to be honest about what else is or isn't going on.

@PlaneMonkey so one option is commando, but if that's not your thing, I wear 'Bonded high waisted briefs' by Boux Avenue. I appreciate you may not be able to get the brand, but if you have a look at the style (I would link, but I'm not searching for underwear on my work laptop!) they are seamless, and high waisted. They don't go anywhere whether I am running or lifting - including all the work we've done on the snatch which is jumping into a deep squat position.

I've been a bit lacking in effort this last week, we've had some lovely sunny days and I've been enjoying too many beers in pub gardens and snacking too much. I don't think I've overdone it enough to get an actual fat gain though, as I've still been tracking my calories and should be at maintenance levels. I'm quite bloated though and my totm is 3 days late (no, it's not 'that'!) so I'm hoping when it comes I'll start to settle back down.

@PlaneMonkey I second the commando way, no lines or wedgies 😂 Although, I must admit, I wear boring bikini panties from Lane Bryant. I find the cheekie style and shorts cause wedgies for me while exercising.
