@Brigit02 Why can’t chips be less calories, who is satisfied with 7 chips? I guess we can make them from light tortillas, I’ll have to try that sometime, haven’t done that in awhile. I can only laugh now but I used to get huge bags of Stacy's Naked pita chips and hummus and eat half the bag when I got home, that's like a day's worth of calories when I thought I was being healthy.

Costco sells a huge bag of Stacy's pita chips that we no longer buy because I would devour it quickly. But I still ate the small bag of chips we got at Trader Joes. I can't be around pita chips without losing my mind. LOL

    Hey folks!

I hope everyone is doing good.
It has been a very busy week here. Thing are finely slowing down a bit.

@mkksemail when it come to tweaking the part I don't like is having to add every little bit of what you eat. So most of the time by dinner I am not in the mood to make recipes for what I am cooking, adding every single thing I am put on a salad, or I just don't eat cuz I don't want to log it. If that makes sense.
Unfortunately the real deal is not like the show, Orange is the New Black.

@Katmary71 when you say tarp are you referring to the one used to keep thing dry that have no air holes or one that is like a screen with air holes?
Right now I am not having an issue with the sun. Where I put my garden just happens to get shade during some parts of the day. pgee6bh3j9at.jpg
    rk9me2upusek.jpg
    fqul9ruvv5c8.jpg
This fall we are moving the garden to an area that had no natural shade source so I have been looking into different shade screens. I just typed garden shade ideas in Google search to get some ideas.

Well I think my cucumbers are at the end of their life span. I let to many cucumbers mature by accident. Yesterday I started another pickling cucumber and a bush cucumber along with cantaloupe and cilantro. I am trying something out by having my watermelon and cantaloupe climb the trellis instead of growing on the ground. But while rearranging my cantaloupe I stressed out the plants. So planted back ups just in case.

It is time to get around and head out for my morning walk and knock out my to Do list for the day.
    Have a blessed day!

GO OUT AND BE AMAZING TODAY!

Yesterday Rich and I got to spend the day together. I thought perhaps Rich would want to do his own thing, as I know he likes having a day all to himself (as do I). He had breakfast with his friend Ed from work, which is a weekly thing for them, and then he spent the rest of the day with me. When I started out for my first walk of the day (before his breakfast), he joined me. While he was at breakfast, I took a short bike ride, about 30 minutes. When he came back from his breakfast, he suggested another, much longer walk. This was great for me - I had my 6+ walking miles done before 10:30am and mostly beat the heat. It got HOT. We haven't had a hot day since June 9. It got up to 91 yesterday and very humid. After the walk I took another quick bike ride, and then Rich & I went out for lunch. Not the best thing for his diabetes, but it was nice. He took over the agenda after lunch and we went to the bookstore. He bought 5 survival books. I asked if he thought I was going to drop him off in the wilderness with nothing but a pen knife and a bag of m&ms. For some reason, he feels he needs to be prepared to survive in the wilderness. I wish he took as much interest in his diabetes survival. After the bookstore, we went out to walk in the woods at Peverly Pond, where it was a few degrees cooler. Then back home, and he wanted to watch an episode of Alone (this is where the survivalist stuff is coming from). I went out for one last walk around the neighborhood. Today, my "real" day off, I will be doing some housecleaning and running errands. But first, a morning walk. It's going to be another HOT day.

@txcritter69 You have a beautiful home!

@trooworld My knees have been bothering me too so I did this workout yesterday:

30-Minute 'Knee Friendly' Total Body Barre Workout

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7s8sGwYYUM

It was very easy on my knees, Jessica Smith is fantastic.

    Happy Friday, Slims !

Love the garden pix, and ahhh, interesting on the real thing not being like Orange is the New Black, tx!

troo and brigit, with you both on the knees  . Somewhat counterintuitively (to me) squats are a great exercise for poor knees. I had a 25 squats x 3 days mini-challenge as part of one of my other challenges a couple weeks ago, and I was like ....   nooooo . But I googled some squats vids bc I wanted to make sure I was getting the form right. I know if you do it wrong, it can hurt your back or your knees, or something like that. I found some super helpful youtubes on squats for beginners, etc. One talked about how it was the most useful and necessary exercise for seniors to do, which shocked me! Another talked about the helpfulness for arthritic knees. I was like, okay, I guess I should do this. I met my 3 day challenge and kept going. Reached 2 weeks on Wed of this week woohoooo. Another useful thing for bum knees is Tai Chi. Also learned that recently, again - also bc of a mini-challenge that was part of another challenge. Dr. Paul Lam makes a Tai Chi for Arthritis video that I tried out last week. It's an hour and a half, Intro and Six lessons. I only listened to the intro and did lesson one so far.

DJill, your canning looks amazing! And mica, your advice to never use food to celebrate sounds perfect. Plus, your day off crashing your hubby's day to himself sounds lovely!! It sounds like hubby really wanted to and enjoyed the day with you. And wtg getting in all your exercise before the heat hit. Nice!

    Cheers!

    Hi all!

Congratulations to all those who made the leaderboard and those of us hanging in here! 🎉

I’m here but just really busy. I’m trying to be outdoors with the kids daily. So we have picnics with friends, swimming and a fitness class for my youngest. My husband is sick with a stomach bug today and he’s miserable. It’s been like every 2 weeks one of us has gotten it. Weird but hopefully this is it.

I didn’t realize I was in the green for a month. How exciting!

I’m going to go back and read posts now.

    I missed a bunch. Like 32 😩

No change but I feel good about me! B)

No Zero Days: I got up and swept/mopped my kitchen, foyer, and all three bathrooms last night at 9:30. It feels good to have that done this morning. It's going to be a great day no matter what comes my way. The present me knows that. I also went to water aerobics Thursday when they opened back up. That type of exercise is a win, win for me because of these knees. If I want it, I've got to "WORK FOR IT!"
That's what our instructor continues to have us chant. She also says if you work for it, you'll keep it longer. This is good for me!

    HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE!!

    Let's go get it! B
    ) B)

@askewcr - Way to go with a great attitude!

@trooworld , apologies! You found the one I meant. I mixed up a 1hr 22 min Dr Paul Lam vid that I did not watch, and the 49 min Dr Paul Lam vid that I did watch, in my mind, and came up with a 1 hr 49 min Dr Paul Lam vid that does not exist 🤪.

@AmbersWay , I just sent you a friend request. I copied the message, bc I know friend request messages disappear on e you accept a friend request (lol like a spy message,cself-destructing after reading! 🤣).

Here's the copy/paste of the message:
    Hello!

You mentioned sending a DM about Turkey. I didn't receive it, bc we weren't MFp friends listed.

I'm sorry it's taken me so long to follow up and send you a friend request. I've been deeply immersed in learning how MFP works and researching/learning habit tracking/list making/productivity apps 🙃.

I would love to know more about how your expat life works, and how you manage splitting time bw countries, with pets etc 😀.

I did mention the group you referenced (about expat life in Turkey) to my daughter. She'd love to know more about it :).

She only just got home Thu overnight, in time to work her weekend sifts, and she's off again Sunday night, trying to get all the dox in order to apply for a date at Murat's municipality where they can 'do the paperwork' for a marriage visa, as my daughter calls it. She objects to calling it a wedding ceremony, bc they plan on having a wedding celebration next summer. The visa takes so long, and a follow-up green card for Murat, and that they eager to get started!

DD met intended's family over Eid. She had a lovely time visiting with all his extended family over the week of Eid. But, didn't get some of the requirements for applying for a Turkish marriage accomplished bc ofc everything was closed for Eid heh.

The weekend after she and DF returned to Istanbul, they did shop for a ring tho. They found one they both like at the Grand Bazaar :). Murat was reluctant to shop there bc he thought it was too touristy and might be too expensive, but the mall ended up not having what they wanted, so they did buy one at the Grand Bazaar after all :).

He's pretty sure he can finish negotiating a nice price when he picks it up, after resizing, bc he's Turkish and not a tourist, he says. ✨😎.

    Cheers!
    - mk :)

(Saving a copy, I'll resend if/when you accept friend request. I know messages sent w friend req disappear after request is accepted.)

@Everyone , hello! Happy Saturday :). Summer is over here in Maine - we had two days, Jul 6 & 7, "that's it and that's all!" 😝🤣

We've had a weather system parked over us since early Jun - it's been rainy, overcast, cool-ish temp, foggy, and/or t-storming almost every day since! It's kept the Canadian wildfire smoke largely away, but it's super weird - "The Summer That Wasn't", someone said. "MOTS - More Of The Same", one of the local weather forecasters said. 🤷‍♀️🌂
