….. My hip has been hurting for a year! I thought it might be my new bed because it’s REALLY bad at night and wakes me up. That doesn’t help either. I am awake almost every hour of the night. It’s also real bad when I go from sitting to trying to walk. It takes a bit before it moves without trouble. I think it’s more inflammatory and muscle related rather than actual hip joint….
Sounds so familiar! You know, all it took was a trip to the doctor and some X-rays for me to find out it was my hips. And then I got replacements and it was the best thing I ever did! I suffered the same as you for far too many years. An additional 20 years have been added to my life barring annything unexpected health wise. You deserve to feel better and find out how you can be helped!!3 -
is it Monday? My weekend was fun for the wedding in Chicago but very exhausting. I am also about to enter the lovely TOM and woke up with a slightly piercing headache around my temples that remained on and off for the day. But, I did dance cardio for a sweaty 40 min with my friend which felt great and now I'm having a rather late dinner.
thank you all for the feedback on the health/medication front!
@PlaneMonkey in particular, your post was SO GREAT and helpful for my mental state. I really appreciate it and will probably have some questions for you so watch the DMs haha. thank you, thank you.
@lauren_989 what is body pump? you are killing it with movement and steps!
@micki48 I hear you. And we're here for you! From my position, it's no fun being backed into a corner with health issues. ride the wave of determination with me if you like!4 -
Hi @jugar

You certainly can! You'll be more than welcome. Just post your preferred weigh-in day, this week's weight, and you'll be all set for August. It is great to hear from you3 -
@DianaGetsFit512 and @Gidgitgoescrzy welcome back!
@micki48 I definitely agree that I enjoy eating. What really helped is finding other hobbies that I enjoy. Learning about gardening, even if I kill everything and only got 1 zucchini, starting to do puzzles, and making friends at the gym has helped me find other areas of enjoyment in life, rather than food. It's still a work in progress though for me!
@Kali225 body pump is a class by Les Mills. They offer it at my local ymca (gym). It does light-ish weight (you pick how much) and every song works a muscle group. There's the warm-up, squats, chest, back, triceps, biceps, lunges, shoulders, abs, and stretching track. It's amazing how much improvement I've seen and my shoulders are starting to look toned! And I'm almost at a NSV of doing a pushup on my toes!! I've been doing this class for about 2-3 months (3 days a week) and I already see way more improvement than when I was doing orange theory fitness!
Yesterday, I did a body combat class which is a combination of different martial arts moves to music. It's a lot of punching, kicking, and jumping. I am so sore after that one!6 -

Wow...this is the first month ever in I don't know how many years, I had a green month!! Now to keep up this momentum!
@jugar next week I will need to weigh in on Wednesday since I'm going out of town.3 -
@micki48 Montrose is about 2.5 hours away or 135 miles on very slow, windy, beautiful mountain roads.
Today is my weigh in and if it was yesterday, I would have gained. However, I must have dropped the bloat and water weight I had from the weekend because I ended up slightly in the green.

@ashleycarole86 - hope you feel better soon.
@lauren_989 great job being in the green this week. Keep it up

A small loss but will take it and feeling great this week. My daughter was away last week at camp so I took advantage at some dinners out with the husband. This week she's at sports camp during the day. Crazy that July will be over soon, already thinking of back to school.5 -

Thanks everyone for the support , info and suggestions. @CarolAnnM2 I’m so glad to hear your hip replacements have given you new life. I hope I’m not there yet but wary to hear it sounds so familiar to you. It is better somewhat as I walk though.
I have everything logged that I ate so far today. Still over but becoming clear why I am in an upward trend. Also even though im no where near under calories, I’m proud of myself for logging even though it’s not pretty. Baby steps right?!
Welcome back @DianaGetsFit512 I know you can do this. This time is the charm. I believe in you. We will both get there.
Im going to go take a walk around the block with hubby. Check back later.5 -
Quick update - only 1 weigh-in due from @MoonlitMuse - thanks!1

I would like to weigh in on Wednesdays

Welcome @michellebarry74 ! We are glad to have you on our team, and hope that it will provide you with the support, encouragement, and occasional laughs that we all need.
Tell us about yourself - where you are, your hopes and goals - and, of course, your questions if you have any. You'll gradually get to know the rest of us, and soon when the new August chat thread starts, everyone re-introduces themselves so we get all caught up with the old and the new members. Thanks!2 -
Logged all my food. Still over but logged. Met my step goal. Falling asleep here tonight. More tomorrow 😴3

I found an interesting way to burn calories today - I got dumped off my horse as we were heading out for a relaxing (hahaha) trail ride (no worries, it was a very gentle fall, and no drama), then led him (speedwalking!) right back to the big outdoor ring for a powerful workout. It seems he needed to get a few yayas out, sweat a bit, and remember that we were a team! Then we did indeed take a nice relaxing trail ride.
Food has not been as positive, though. I made a good discovery in a bad way. My absolute favourite cookies from the best little bakery around are no longer the same. They changed the recipe, and not in a good way. Although I am happy that I don't really like them anymore, I did eat 2 of them to figure that out... At least I have plenty of good veggies from the garden to make up for it! Bring on the rapini...
I hope everyone has had a day of good things. Here is the line-up for Thursday weigh-ins:
@ashleycarole86
@39flavours
@DD265
@conleywoods
Overdue:
@MoonlitMuse

I am covid free and back to life. Woo hoo.
I have out of town company as of yesterday so my free time is nil as I'm hosting them after work again today.
Tomorrow we get back to our trailer after 3 weekends away from it.
My movement was low during covid but both Brad and I have been better about tracking more since we got back from BC.
Will keep chipping away to get back into the 100's.
Welcome to new members and returning members!!6 -
Welcome @Antonia2050 ! We are looking forward to getting to know you - go ahead and tell us a bit about you (as much as you are comfortable sharing!) and ask any questions you may have. Our official August team chat will open up on Saturday, and everyone will re-introduce themselves there so you'll be able to get to know us. In the meantime, just dive in and get ready for August1

Aloha everyone and greetings from Big Island Hawaii!
I’m not sure where to begin, so here’s some basic info … I am 62 years old and I’ve been retired for two years. I was a social worker for almost 30 years. I served in the Air Force before starting our family. My husband is retired Air Force. We have three children and eight grandchildren with one more due in August. I’m an Aquarius and love long walks on the beach. (couldn’t resist)
I am not very tall, and I’ve always loved my curves. However, menopause and Covid did me in. I joined this challenge for the support that it offered because I NEED the accountability. Aside from normal health factors, I want to be able to cross my legs again. I want to be able to put shoes on without holding my breath and I want to fit comfortably in an airplane seat. Simple, attainable goals. 🤙🏼
Thanks for having me.

@Antonia2050 Thanks for jumping in with us. I think you are our first member from Hawaii - such a beautiful place. I was lucky to do a few conference presentations there and many family members have had great times there as well. Quite a few of us in the team have military family or experience, and some of us are retired (watch out - we might be after you to take a leadership role in the team!!). I hope you'll find some kindred spirits here. My daughter is in the Canadian Army (Logistics) and my husband put in a few years in the US Air Force, even though I'm both a Navy brat and a kind of a former hippie and musician. It is amazing how life puts all the people together. I look forward to the stories and photos as you get going on the important work of crossing our legs and getting healthy. I lost my weight after menopause and am now almost 70 - so I know it can be done! I'll be kicking your butt
We're heading towards both the weekend and the beginning of a new month. Plans? Goals? At least racking up a bunch of non-zero days? Share your ideas, everyone.3 -

Holy cow! It seems I blinked and voila! 75 more entries by all of you lovelies! OK...I'll just say here that I've had a busy week with pretty good control on meals, and still not quite as much exercise as I'd like. I'm weighing in a day early because I'll be up early to go to the 6 a.m. swim class...at least I'll have more exercise tomorrow since I will also end my day with exercise at the pool.
Sorry I missed my weigh in last week. It's getting lower, slowly but surely.
Enjoy your Friday and I'll be back soon.

I am off to Halifax early tomorrow morning for a little mini vacation to Touchdown Atlantic 🏈 and some whale watching 🐋 and won’t be home until late Monday night so @jugar I will weigh in on Tuesday this time.4
-
@CarolAnnM2 so jealous you're going to Halifax! It's one of our favourite cities. Our neighbours are there now and sending us photos of the solar bike tour they're on. So much fun to be had!1

So I've figured out that the inside of my hockey glove gets damp from sweat and when it touches the screen on my Garmin it shuts off the exercise recording! Not cool.
We're heading to Montreal for the weekend and I still have my fingers crossed that I will make it into the hockey camp that I'm waitlisted for. Otherwise I'll have to burn off the calories on the dance floor instead on Saturday night!
There will be lots of good food all weekend so I'm going to focus on portion control. Leftovers are not a crime! You can eat it again for breakfast. Mmmmmm m.... Breakfast.... Lol5
