You bet, I'll take them. I have been terrible with my reports lately but everything is nicely tracked and available on the spreadsheets for folks to see. Glad you had a lovely celebration. I have been eating a lot of salads this week but I had dinner out with some friends tonight.
Social eating for me is a general trigger.
I get caught up in the "well everyone else is doing it" mentality..4 -
@MoonlitMuse - OMG! I hope your pup is okay! My dog has eaten a ton of things (including an old peach pit), so we are also very familiar with the trips to ER and the induced vomiting.
@MaddawgMadsen - I have found that when I drink alcohol, I am inclined to eat more, so what I do is if I am going to be going out with friends for a drink, I eat a meal or a protein-rich snack beforehand, so that way I am not as hungry or inclined to snack. When I go out to dinner with my husband and we have a drink, I drink and eat the meal more slowly and also drink water in-between sips of alcohol. That has helped me quite a bit!
I also love ice cream, so at home, I always make sure to leave room in my calorie budget for a Yasso bar. They are delicious! My favorite right now are the Black Raspberry Chip. When we’re out, I have found that if I order a small, that is plenty enough because while they say a small is “one scoop” it ends up being more like two, and that’s close to a true serving size of ice cream. It satisfies the sweet craving and I also like getting sprinkles, which tend to be a lower calorie topping option, or whipped cream.
So quick life update - on Sunday night, we experienced water coming through our ceiling in our main bedroom and right over our bed. 🤦♀️ I’m now negotiating with insurance for them to cover the roof because that’s where the water came in from, and it’s been an ordeal to say the least. We’re also going away on vacation starting this weekend, and we really don’t want to leave our roof in its current state so the insurance company finally agreed to send out someone to do an inspection, and then hopefully a roofer can put a tarp down to prevent further water damage while we’re gone.5 -
@wishfuljune Yikes! I hope your roof gets its temporary fix so that you can vacation without worries. So much water in so many places these days... Drinking lots of the stuff is usually a good idea, but this is ridiculous!4

@jugar Having a plan that I stick to is my biggest tool for keeping trigger foods and habits in check. Also, including in the plan a day or a meal where I will track calories, but I will allow myself to go over my daily allowance.
For example, Friday is that day this week. 7pm MST (I live in Colorado) is the start of the first U.S. game in the Women's World Cup. I plan to be at one of my favorite restaurant bars watching this game. I have it narrowed down to two locations, but either one, I am guaranteed to go over my calories. But, it is okay because my plan also includes many days of sticking to my budget. This outing is my treat for doing that.
My one true food trigger is ice cream. It is the only food I cannot keep myself from eating if it is in the house. So, I just make sure it is not in the house. When I've budgeted calories for it or I have it in my plan to go over calories to allow for it, I buy a pint and share it with my husband.

@wishfuljune of gosh, Hope you can find a temp fix so you don't have to worry throughout your vacation. Water damage is not fun and can cause so much damage.
This is a great topic. I have foods that I can't have in the house, one being Twizzlers. They are my weakness and if I really want some I have to go out an buy a small pack to eat. No family size because I can't stop. I find at times I'm so hit or miss with certain foods too. I can have ice cream in the house for 1-2 months without touching it and then it hits me that I want to eat it all. Something I should work through.
Happy hump day6 -
@wishfuljune Eek, that doesn't sound good at all.. preparing for a vacation can be stressful enough without that complication. Hope you get it all sorted.
Even since I got home my allergies have really been acting up. I have been getting my steps but have been feeling run down otherwise so I haven't gotten back on the Peloton yet.
Food tracking has been better..not perfect, but better. Feels good to be moving in the right direction again.6 -

I'm at the hospital today getting my knee surgery and have just been weighed fully clothed. So I thought I'd use this because I won't be able to stand on the scales on Saturday.6 -

I hope the surgery goes brilliantly and that you'll be back in action soon. Hugs!4 -
Well today sure zipped by! I had my MRI and have been busy in the garden and doing other stuff. I decided to drive down to visit my dad for a few days - I'll leave tomorrow and be back sometime over the weekend. I will get in a nice trail ride early before spending hours in the car, though! I had a lesson/coaching session yesterday that about did both Jasper and me in! So we took today off I like working with a riding coach to make sure I'm not missing things, especially with a green horse. It was a good session, but I have a lot to work on We tried all kinds of things and got a good sweat on for sure. Tomorrow will be a nice trail ride and then Jasper will have to wait a few days to get back to work. I'm sure he'll be all broken up about that
I have still been struggling with consistency with my "normal" workouts this month. I'm outside so much that I don't feel much like slinging weights or getting on the mat when I'm inside. But I need it - I find that everything goes better when I do at least the bare minimum of keeping those muscles working. Yesterday and today OK. Will try to keep it up and get the habit back in place.
Thursday heads up ----

It's Wednesday and I'm heading to bed. I promise I'll touch base tomorrow and catch up with you all. Sleep well - I know I will!

@wishfuljune why do things like that happen just when it's least convenient. Not that a roof showering your bed with water could ever be considered convenient, but just before going away for a relaxing break is the ultimate in bad timing! I hope it gets fixed up without any more problems. Enjoy your holiday.1

Social eating is definitely a trigger for me too. I grew up with the food is love mentality.4 -

Donut World?? I can say that neither Oregon nor Colorado have this. In Portland, Oregon, Voodoo Donuts is all the rage. In my small hometown, there's a place called Up With Donuts. Apparently it used to be Up Your Donut in the 80s. And, my current small town is getting a donut shop that opens next month. It's name is Donuts. Original, I know.
Now I want a donut. I guess even talking about delicious food, like donuts, can be a trigger. Sorry if I did that to anyone else!2 -

Food is love in my family, too. My mom is constantly baking sweets and sending them to our house. Luckily, I have a husband I can pawn most of them off on. And, when he doesn't want them, I can take them to work. But, every single week there is some sweet in our house from my mom, and it is okay because this is how she shows love.4 -
Hi pals. Gearing up for weigh in tomorrow. Definitely struggled with some binges at the top of this week so not sure where I will land.
I saw a weight management specialist last week and she and I are discussing potential medications to help my binge-eating next friday, 7/28. I struggled with the idea initially of taking medication to address my weight/issues, because I guess we generally think of being overweight as something you can just will yourself out of. Why can't I just use MFP and track things and there goes the weight? Well, after 9+ years of trying to do just that, maybe it's time for me to turn to something else. Obviously any of these medications are not miracles, I still have to eat better and exercise for it to do anything for me, but worth having the conversation. One of the options she mentioned apparently was originally developed for ADHD, which is pretty intriguing for me since I have lots of signs of ADHD. 2 birds 1 stone?
I would say I turned a corner emotionally last night when it occurred to me that the intense night foot pain I experienced this April for about 5 days straight, and occasionally have had again on a more minor level the last few weeks, are most likely early signs of peripheral neuropathy, which is associated with diabetes/pre-diabetes. A shocking connection and a big jolt to me. The other shoe has dropped. I cannot keep going the way I have been. so, thought I would share this. If any of you have experience with binge-eating medications or weight loss medications, I would love to hear about it. [side effects also sound pretty crappy for some of them, so that's blehh].5 -
@micki48 definitely not krispy kreme lol. I have to say, I have been addicted to publix donuts (crazy I know) and they are literally right next to my work. Otherwise, I love duck donuts and granny's donuts. Again, local chain places that are amazing. Duck donuts makes the donut right in front of you. It's a cake donut with any topping you want served hot and fresh everytime. I like the smore one that has chocolate icing, graham cracker crumbs and marshmallow drizzle 🤤3
